We’re looking for passionate & experienced technologists, strong communicators, and those with a commitment to continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will be proficient frontend engineering. We’re looking for the confidence to propose pragmatic solutions to complex problems and be eager to learn from and educate others as a Senior Software Engineer working for our Sportsbook domain.
You will be working with the FanDuel Sportsbook application, providing our customers with a best-in-class experience as a proficient Senior Software Engineer. You’ll play a pivotal part in making our platform highly usable and will write clear, scalable, and high-quality code. You will work continuously to improve architecture and processes to improve quality and efficiency. In addition to the specific responsibilities outlined above, employees may be required to perform other such duties as assigned by the Company. This ensures operational flexibility and allows the Company to meet evolving business needs.

- You work to resolve the root cause of complex problems, leaving software better and easier to maintain than when you found it.
- You mentor and help new team-mates on how your team's software is constructed, how it operates, and how it fits into the bigger picture.

- You help recruit and interview for your team.
- You estimate stories/tasks accurately and deliver them in time.
- On-call rotation where required. You provide excellent customer support on behalf of Technology.

THE STATS
What we're looking for in our next teammate
- Degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent work experience preferred.
- 5 or more years of Software Development experience in creating and maintaining mobile applications with experience in React and React Native.
- A fundamental understanding of data structures and algorithms with experience working with backend for frontend (BFF) architectural patterns.
- Proficient with prompting AI-powered development tools Claude or Cursor to accelerate coding workflows, improve code quality, and increasing efficiency.
- Experience working with cloud-based infrastructure and technologies, preferably AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, ECS, RDS).
- Experienced with optimization utilizing monitoring and alerting tools like DataDog or Sentry.
- Experience working with CI/CD pipeline tooling, preferably Jenkins or BuildKite.
- Familiarity with Git, GitLab, Atlassian suite preferred.
- Experience with unit testing, testing tools, integrating testing and best-quality practices into an SDLC.

The applicable salary range for this position is $138,000 - $181,650 USD, which is dependent on a variety of factors including relevant experience, location, business needs and market demand. This role may offer the following benefits: medical, vision, and dental insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; a 401(k) matching program; among other employee benefits. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including, but not limited to, cash bonuses and stock program participation. This role includes paid personal time off and 14 paid company holidays. FanDuel offers paid sick time in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws.

Our Account Vertical is responsible for Registration, Authentication, User Identity and Verification journeys. Basically, if you've registered, logged-in, and managed your account on our platform, our engineering teams own this and more. You will be working specifically in our Access pillar, building a world class login experience while maturing how we make sure accounts across our platform (Sportsbook, Casino, Racing, DFS) are safe and secure by detecting and preventing unauthorized activities. Some of the technologies we use are Java, Typescript (React), Python, Terraform on AWS (K8s, EKS, Lambdas, RDS Aurora, SNS, SQS).

THE STATS
What we're looking for in our next teammate
- BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related software engineering field, or 4+ years of relevant work experience preferred.
- Deep experience and passion working with web libraries and frameworks, such as React and Typescript.
- Strong experience writing distributed, highly scalable, and available backend systems & APIs using Java, Python or similar programming languages.
- Experience with AI tools such as Cursor, Claude AI, or Microsoft Copilot.
- Experience with full stacks, single-page applications and/or micro frontends.
- Experience working with cloud-based infrastructure and technologies, preferably AWS.
- Understanding DevOps concepts such as containers (e.g., Docker), orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes), and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., CloudFormation and/or Terraform).
- Familiarity with observability/monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog).
- A fundamental understanding of data structures and algorithms.
- Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.
- Demonstrated abilities driving operational excellence and software best practices.
- Expertise with testing concepts, test tools, and integrating testing and best practices in the SDLC.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with native mobile development on iOS and/or Android (e.g., Swift, Kotlin, React Native).
- Experience with experimentation/product analytics tools (e.g., Amplitude).
