About the Position

The Commercial Counsel will act as the primary legal point of contact for the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, this role is responsible for leading contracting strategy across the region and partnering closely with Sales and business stakeholders to support commercial growth.

Primary Responsibilities

General Legal

• Serve as the first point of contact for legal matters across the APAC region
• Partner with the General Counsel and external legal advisors to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice
• Ensure high quality legal support aligned with business objectives

Contract Negotiation

• Partner with Regional Sales Leaders and Account Executives to negotiate customer contracts, including SaaS, licensing, and professional services agreements
• Act as the lead legal contact for customer negotiations across APAC
• Draft, review, and negotiate customer contracts
• Advise internal teams on contract interpretation and support resolution of contractual disputes
• Identify trends and recurring challenges in negotiations to improve contracting strategy and processes
• Develop and maintain contract templates and a contracts database
• Manage engagement with external counsel for country-specific legal requirements

Compliance

• Support and manage compliance with global regulations including FCPA, UK Bribery Act, and OFAC
• Maintain working knowledge of data protection laws and regulations across relevant jurisdictions

Candidate Requirements & Qualifications

• 7–10 years of relevant legal experience, with a strong focus on commercial contracts
• Proven experience working within international organisations, supporting cross-border legal matters
• Strong background in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements (e.g. SaaS, licensing, services)
• Prior law firm training is advantageous, but not essential
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, with sound judgement and the confidence to act as a key legal advisor
• Experience partnering with commercial teams (e.g. Sales, Finance, Operations) in a fast-paced environment
• Working knowledge of global compliance frameworks (e.g. FCPA, UK Bribery Act, OFAC)
• Exposure to employment law, intellectual property, or related areas is beneficial
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills
• Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities across regions

About the Position

This role reports to the Head of Solutions. The main responsibility is to lead, manage, and operate the Pre-sales activities for Energy Exemplar's in the ASEAN region.

The Solutions Lead is responsible for developing and implementing strategies that aim to drive business growth and innovation in the region. To achieve this, they work closely with both internal and external stakeholders to plan and implement processes supporting service delivery and product innovation.

• Develop and execute ASEAN GTM strategy and account plan for all existing and new accounts, execution including marketing support activities, pre-sales demos, professional service delivery. It is expected that the plan should support the ASEAN Sales team in the coordination and allocation of resources to achieve business objectives

• Lead a high-performance Solutions team in ASEAN, comprising Energy and Data Analysts.
• Build an environment that supports true innovation, thought leadership and best practice sharing.
• Provide leadership and coaching to the Solutions team based on knowledge of industry and vertical market trends, regional business economics and strategic issues.
• Engage with high-level customer and partner decision makers to understand customer business issues and bring the right resources to develop, propose and implement sound technical solutions.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders from across the business to support the end-to-end process from sales through to delivery, ensuring robust processes and procedures are in place for seamless delivery of Energy Exemplar’s services.
• Maintain strong relationships with key customers to facilitate the ongoing flow of information concerning current and new solution needs, product development initiatives and market conditions that impact solution and product development.

Candidate Requirements & Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience with Energy Modeling and Power Market Analysis
• 2+ years of team and people management experience
• Minimum of 3+ years’ experience working in Utility, TSO with PLEXOS or similar simulation software tool
• Demonstrated experience in building fundamental energy models including Electricity Markets, Gas Systems, Renewable Energy, and emerging technologies like Hydrogen and Ammonia
• Strong delivery record on projects in the areas of net-zero, decarbonization and solutions for new energy technologies in APAC context
• Excellent spoken and written communication skills
• Ability to communicate in multiple languages is beneficial
• High level of emotional intelligence
• Ability to communicate complex subject matter in an easy-to-understand manner
