Your Role 

You will join our EXP Squad, building the customer-facing APIs and backend systems that power how enterprise customers manage and automate their IoT connectivity. These are production systems that directly impact adoption, scalability, and reliability. 

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will operate at the intersection of product thinking and technical excellence. You will not just implement tickets, you will own features end to end. From early discovery and architectural design to rollout and iteration, you will shape scalable, secure, and extensible systems. 

Our core stack includes TypeScript, Node.js, and NestJS, running on AWS with Infrastructure as Code.

Your Impact

• Design and deliver scalable, customer-facing backend capabilities from architecture to production.
• Drive API and system design decisions with long-term scalability, security, and maintainability in mind.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and other engineering teams to translate complex requirements into clean technical solutions.
• Improve reliability, observability, testing practices, and architectural standards within your domain.
• Contribute to mentoring, hiring, and raising the engineering bar within the team. 

Your Skills

• Strong experience building scalable backend systems with TypeScript and Node.js, ideally using NestJS.
• Proven track record designing and evolving REST APIs in production environments.
• Solid experience with AWS and Infrastructure as Code, especially Terraform.
• Hands-on experience with data modeling and performance optimization in SQL or NoSQL databases.
• Demonstrated ability to own features end to end and make sound architectural trade-offs.

We are looking for an experienced Staff Backend Software Engineer to support all of our SIM related initiatives starting with automation of our SIM ordering, provisioning and verification process till active SIM-lifecycle-management for UICC and eUICC in the field. You will also participate in our future SIM strategy working on new standards and product offerings.

The position can be based in Germany or Poland.

Your Impact: 

• Collaborate within a cross-functional team to architect, build, test, deploy and run cloud-based telco applications for global IoT connectivity.
• Apply your development expertise in Python, TypeScript, Java for our SIM management software running on AWS.
• Design and implement services, enhancing our offerings with value-added features for our customers.
• Leverage metrics data to prioritize tasks with the highest impact on engineering outcomes.
• Ensure reliable network connectivity for IoT devices, troubleshooting and resolving issues promptly.
• Share your domain and technical knowledge with the team and rely on their existing expertise to grow.

Your Skills:

• Technical Competency: Proficiency in building distributed network services applications using scripting languages (TypeScript, Python) and OoO languages (Java). Experience in designing cloud-based applications using AWS, Terraform, MySQL/Postgres. Full-stack and frontend dev experience is a plus.
• Domain Proficiency: Experience with or readiness to learn about telecommunications knowledge, specifically SIM (Subscriber Identity Module Card).
• Problem-solving: Expertise in unit testing and CI/CD practices.
• Effective Communication: Ability to clearly share knowledge within and across teams, fostering a collaborative environment. Comfortable working with remote teams.
• Adaptability: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly, ensuring reliable network services. Experienced with working in an agile environment.

Your Role

We are looking for a talented Backend Engineer with an interest in telecommunications and a passion for software development and big data technologies. You will be responsible for real-time processing of our data, enabling microservices and supporting the company to work in a fully data-driven environment. The position can be based in emnify’s office either in Berlin, or in Würzburg, or remote in Germany or Poland. 

Your Impact

• Work within one of our service squad responsible for designing, building, testing, and running components or projects which drive the pricing & charging of emnify
• Development of APIs and real-time data processing applications based on streaming technologies on the top of Apache Kafka ecosystem with a focus on scalability and reliability
• Work with a team on core telecommunication functions like automated product lifecycle, in a modern cloud-based environment
• Architecture and design of above-mentioned components to run on AWS in a scalable fashion
• As a part of a team, you will be responsible for deploying and running these applications using CI/CD tooling like Jenkins, Terraform and monitoring solutions like Grafana, Prometheus etc

Your Skills

• Experience of full-cycle engineering from POC to production with JVM based languages preferably Scala (large part of our code-base is in Scala). 
• Demonstrable experience working with stream/data processing platforms like Kafka streams, Spark (Glue) and/or Flink.
• You have designed at least one or more complex APIs and made major contributions into complex projects running in production.
• Proven expertise in implementing and deploying solutions in cloud environments (with a preference for AWS), ideally using Infrastructure-as-a-code.
• Experience working on relational databases.

Bonus Points

• Interest in telecommunication, Internet of Things, network protocols and SDN
• Happy to contribute to our components running on Node.js (Typescript).
• Work experience in agile development teams
• Having contributed to Open-Source projects (link to github/gitlab project)
• Relevant AWS certification
