About the role...

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Android) to join the India Growth team. Your role will be to rapidly expand our user base in India by delivering product features. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape growth strategies, identify and resolve retention and engagement problems for our learners in India who are mainly learning English. Join us to make a significant impact on Duolingo’s key business metric DAU in one of our most important markets.

🧠  You will...

• Quickly develop and maintain native Android application features in Kotlin
• Collaborate on software projects with product manager
• Perform experiment analysis on features and find opportunities for optimization

✅  You have...

• A minimum of 5 years of programming experience building reactive Android apps in Kotlin
• Experience in developing world-class apps with stability, performance, and scalability in mind
• The ability to communicate technical issues effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• A desire to make the world a better place through technology and education
• Ability to apply user insights, data, and statistical analyses to inform decisions
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
• Ability to work from or relocate to Bangalore, India.

As a Group Product Manager, you’ll be a key product leader in the Growth Area. The Growth Area is responsible for growing Duolingo’s user base by making our app so fun, delightful, and effective that our learners stick around, make real progress, and tell their friends all about Duolingo!

• Define the product strategy to make Duolingo a daily habit for millions of learners in India and the Asian Pacific region
• Identify and execute on product opportunities in partnership with engineering, design, marketing, strategy, localization, and other functions
• Drive product features through their entire creative cycle: ideation, specification, experimentation, analysis, launch, and iteration
• Surface insights from quantitative and qualitative data to inform product decisions and champion Indian and APAC learners
• Communicate with global teams across time zones
• Lead and grow a product team

• A track record of driving impact as an individual contributor on a consumer product team
• Experience leading and growing small teams of product managers
• High autonomy, resourcefulness, and creativity
• Excellent spoken and written communication skills
