TPMs on our Engineering teams provide fundamental support to the underlying technology services as well as the engineers building these services. About the Role

Our team is looking for Senior Technical Program Managers for our Dasher & Logistics, Marketplace, Merchant, as well as New Verticals Engineering teams. You will be driving important engineering-wide initiatives related to convenience & grocery and empowering local economies by helping merchants open, grow and operate more profitably. Platform areas span mobile and backend interfaces. Programs will require a strong technical understanding, strong cross organization coordination/facilitation, stakeholder management, and ownership of results.

You will report into the centralized Technical Program Management team in Engineering.

• Own Platform Programs - You will partner closely with Dasher & Logistics, Marketplace, Merchant as well as New Verticals engineering organizations, as well as key engineering and product leaders to establish the vision, strategy, technical direction and success metrics for our engineering teams. Focus areas for your programs will include evangelizing platform visions, executing strategic projects to enable multi-vertical scale, and adoption by product engineering teams.
• Plan & Execute Optimizations - You will drive optimizations related to planning Engineering objectives and key results, develop frameworks for team execution/tracking, and provide visibility to resource allocation and prioritization.
• Demonstrate Technical Depth - You will develop a full understanding of our technical stack and interdependencies, allowing you to contribute to designs and ensure they are scalable, reliable, and efficient.
• Nurture Stakeholders - You will manage all stakeholder expectations from leadership to individual teams, possess strong problem solving and negotiation skills, and earn the trust of partners and teams.
• Navigate a Complex Organization - You understand engineers and enjoy working with them. You will build trust by developing strong technical domain knowledge that adds value beyond project management.
• Manage Process & Timelines - You will manage timely and succinct communications to leadership and across teams to ensure accountability. You’ll develop processes to ensure teamwork is streamlined to manage complexity and optimized velocity. You are thoughtful about how and when to implement processes with a light touch and clear understanding of success within DoorDash’s culture. You’ll balance urgency and priority while moving the needle on multiple initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering or other related discipline.
• 5+ years recent experience as a Technical Program Manager at a technology company.
• Experience in large-scale distributed systems and system architecture.
• Experience working with platform engineers and directly engaging on product development, with a thorough understanding of software development processes.
• Project planning and execution skills that include reviewing technical design documents, estimating, and scheduling.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager to drive the operational backbone of our fastest-growing hardware-software business. In this role, you will join an exciting new confidential initiative that has found momentum with an emerging hardware product.

You will act as the "Execution Engine" for the engineering organization, partnering with Product, Design, and Engineering Directors to deliver a market-leading platform. Given this initiative is still in its early stages, speed, craft, and execution quality are high priority. You must be located in either the Bay Area, Seattle, or the New York Metro Area for this hybrid position.

• Hardware/IoT Awareness: You are comfortable managing programs that involve physical world constraints (firmware updates, device procurement, rolling out code to distributed endpoints).

The Foundations TPM team provides the essential support for the underlying technology services including Data Engineering, Data Platform, Core Infrastructure, and Developer Platforms - and the engineers who build them. It’s a high-stakes environment where we solve complex problems to ensure the stability and velocity of the entire engineering organization.

About the Role

We are looking for a Manager, Technical Program Management to lead and grow our Foundations TPM team. You will report to the Senior Manager of TPM within Engineering Operations and partner closely with Directors in Foundations Engineering to establish the vision and technical direction for our core systems.

In this role, you aren't just managing people; you are overseeing a portfolio of critical initiatives across Data Platforms, Data Engineering, Cloud Infrastructure, and Developer Platform. You will ensure your team successfully drives programs related to reliability, security, capacity planning, and large-scale migrations.

You must be located in San Francisco, CA, Sunnyvale, CA, or Seattle, WA for this hybrid position.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• TPM Experience: 5+ years of experience as a TPM or Engineering leader, ideally within an infrastructure or platform organization.
• Management Experience: At least 2 years of experience directly managing a team of TPMs or engineers in a relevant technical domain.
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills; able to convey complex infrastructure concepts to both technical experts and non-technical stakeholders.
• Execution: Strong skills in project planning, estimating, and scheduling, with a focus on progress and pragmatic solutions.
