About the Role

Your role as a Customer Solutions Architect is to help current customers gain the most value from their dbt Cloud deployment, in partnership with the Sales Director and Solutions Architect on the account. To achieve this, you will monitor an existing book of business, lead technical discussions with customers, uncover new data challenges, and showcase how dbt Cloud can address their needs through live demos and technical workshops. Your end goal will be to drive customer satisfaction, resulting in renewal and expansion among our existing customers.

Internally, you will help our team by acting as the voice of the customer to ensure that we continue to build product that solves real problems and delights our customers, and be an integral part of the early Customer Solutions Architect team as we continue to build out our processes and playbooks. This person will be based in Austin and will be in office 2 days per week. 

What You'll Do

• Manage a portfolio of Commercial or Enterprise customers and proactively monitor the health of your accounts, product adoption, and utilization across your book of business to identify opportunities for potential expansion and churn or contraction risks
• Improve customer loyalty and retention through building and maintaining strong relationships with key technical stakeholders within customer accounts, and understanding their analytics needs and use cases to determine where dbt Cloud can help them achieve their goals
• Increase the value customers obtain from dbt Cloud through educating your customer base on new products and features as they are launched and on existing products and features that they may not be making use of
• Collaborate closely with Sales Directors and Solutions Architects on your accounts, building strong trust-based relationships and providing strategic input on the customer lifecycle and renewals processes
• Be the voice of the customer in product discussions, work with the team to improve the way we work together, and participate in other cross-functional activities
• Participate in the knowledge loop helping to improve our processes and assets and enabling others on the team
• Create and deliver external facing content through live events, blog posts, recorded tutorials, or other content

What You'll Need

• 2+ years of experience in a post-sales role, such as a technical account manager or CSE
• A solid technical background, with a firm understanding of modern data warehousing architectures, the analytics stack, and SQL proficiency
• High degree of comfort presenting to various stakeholders or audience, ideally with experience in an externally facing role
• Ability to operate in an ambiguous and fast-paced environment and think on your feet when engaged in customer conversations
• Desire to be part of a team, both as an active member of the Customer Solutions Architect team as we continue to evolve and improve how we work, and in your day-to-day work with Sales Directors and Solutions Architects
• Openness to travel. While we work in a remote first company, we value the power of in-person relationship building, both internally and externally, so a willingness to travel to external and internal events is required

What Will Make You Stand Out

• Bonus points for dbt certification, prior dbt experience will be very helpful in this role
• Basic python competency and advanced SQL knowledge
• Have experience with ancillary tools, managing data infrastructure, APIs, etc

About the Role

We are looking for a Customer Sales Director to focus on an at-scale strategy to support, retain, and grow a mix of our Commercial and Enterprise customer base. This role is a hybrid-based role in Austin, Texas.

What You'll Do 

• Build a strategic plan to drive expansion in a portfolio of Commercial and Enterprise accounts
• Manage multiple sales cycles and customer campaigns targeting Analytics Engineering, Data Platform, and Data Governance personas.
• Protect renewals by monitoring account signals, deepening executive alignment, and helping customers realize consistent value.

What You’ll Need

• Have 4+ years of experience in SaaS sales or account management, with a proven track record of exceeding targets.
• Have experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, adapting quickly to constant change.
• Possesses strong consultative selling skills, engaging effectively with both technical and business audiences.
• Are proactive and organized, capable of independently managing a diverse book of business.

What Will Make You Stand Out

• You have prior experience in analytics, ETL, BI, or open-source software.
• You are familiar with dbt (core or Cloud) and the modern data stack, including platforms like Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or Databricks.
• You have experience with consumption and/or usage-based pricing structures.
• You have experience with the MEDD(P)ICC sales methodology / Command of the Message

Internally, you’ll contribute to building and refining our processes and playbooks, while acting as the voice of the customer to ensure we continue developing products that solve real problems and delight our users.

This role is based in Austin, with an expectation of being in the office two days per week.

What You’ll Do

• Spend the majority of your time on pre-sales opportunities to understand customer use cases and identify the value dbt Cloud can bring to their organization
• Consult with potential customers to uncover their data challenges and highlight how dbt Cloud can alleviate pain points and support their goals
• Own the demonstration of technical and business impact by delivering tailored demos of dbt Cloud and providing expert guidance
• Collaborate closely with Account Executives, building strong, trust-based relationships and offering strategic input throughout the deal process
• Maintain ongoing relationships with technical stakeholders within your accounts
• Partner with internal teams to improve how we work together, represent the voice of the customer in product discussions, and contribute to cross-functional initiatives
• Participate in our knowledge-sharing loop by helping improve team processes, refining assets, and enabling others through collaboration
• Create and deliver external-facing content through live events, blog posts, recorded tutorials, or other educational resources

What You’ll Need

• 4+ years of experience as a data practitioner or consultant in data operations or analytics
• Strong technical foundation, with a solid understanding of modern data warehousing architectures, the modern data stack, and proficiency in SQL
• Prior experience with dbt is preferred; bonus points for dbt certification
• Experience working asynchronously as part of a partially remote, distributed team
• High degree of comfort presenting to diverse stakeholders or audiences, ideally in an externally facing role
• Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-paced environments and think on your feet during customer conversations
• Desire to be a strong team player—both within the SA team as we evolve our ways of working, and in daily collaboration with Account Executives as part of a deal team
• Openness to travel; we value the power of in-person relationship building, both internally and externally, and expect willingness to travel to events as needed
