We are hiring a Senior Principal AI Engineer to lead the design, development, and deployment of these systems across our platform. This is a hands-on technical leadership role with deep cross-functional reach into Engineering, Product, Data, Clinical, and executive leadership.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical owner of agentic AI at Charlie Health, from architecture and model strategy through production deployment and ongoing reliability.
• Lead the development of clinical operations agents that handle scheduling, intake, insurance verification, referral triage, and care coordination, replacing brittle human handoffs with auditable, supervised AI workflows.
• Lead the development of clinician copilots for real-time documentation, risk surfacing, and treatment-plan support, integrated with our EHR and clinical data platform.
• Define and build the agentic substrate: eval frameworks, observability, guardrails, tool registries, prompt and policy versioning, PHI-safe logging, and simulation environments.
• Own the model strategy across frontier models, fine-tunes, distilled specialists, and classic ML, and articulate it clearly to executive and clinical leadership.
• Partner with Product, Clinical, and Data teams to identify high-leverage opportunities for AI across patient and operational experiences.
• Establish best practices around AI reliability, safety, evaluation, and explainability in a regulated clinical environment.
• Mentor engineers and data scientists across the organization and help foster a strong culture of technical excellence and responsible AI innovation.

Why this role is hard

Behavioral health is one of the most demanding applied-AI environments. Patients are often in acute distress. The regulatory surface spans HIPAA, state-by-state telehealth and licensure law, and rising FDA scrutiny of clinical decision support. AI systems in this environment must be observable, reversible, and defensible to clinicians, to regulators, and to internal review.

We are looking for an engineer who finds those constraints clarifying rather than limiting.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, with several recent years focused on LLM- or ML-powered systems in production.
• Hands-on experience designing and operating agentic systems, including tool use, planning, multi-agent orchestration, eval design, and failure-mode analysis.
• Track record of owning a complex technical initiative end-to-end, including evaluation infrastructure, observability, on-call, and regulatory or compliance review.
• Strong communication skills and comfort operating across registers, from executive strategy conversations to engineering code review.
• Genuine interest in healthcare and in applying AI responsibly in a regulated, high-stakes domain.
• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

About the Role

• Oversee workload distribution across the People Ops team to ensure work is handled at the appropriate level and leadership capacity is preserved for scale and risk management
• Monitor Jira and HR intake trends to identify systemic issues, volume risks, and opportunities for efficiency improvements
• Ensure data integrity and audit readiness across People Operations systems, reporting, and documentation
• Partner with Legal, Compliance, Payroll, Benefits, Finance, IT, and Talent to ensure cross-functional alignment and issue resolution
• Own vendor relationships for People Ops–managed tools and platforms
• Lead and develop People Operations team members, focusing on quality, consistency, and sustainable operating coverage rather than day-to-day task execution

Qualifications 

• Able to work a hybrid schedule of 4 days per week in our NYC office and located within a commutable distance
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• 5–8 years of experience in People Operations or Human Resources, with at least 2–3 years in a people management or senior operational role
• Strong experience owning HRIS platforms and People systems (UKG experience strongly preferred)
• Demonstrated experience leading process automation, systems integrations, and operational scaling efforts
• Strong knowledge of employee lifecycle processes, compliance requirements, and audit preparation
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing competing priorities in a high-growth environment

The total target base compensation for this role will be between $97,000 and $135,000 per year at the commencement of employment. In addition to base compensation, this role offers a target performance-based bonus. The target total cash compensation range, including potential bonus, will be between $106,000 and $149,000 per year. About the Role

Charlie Health is seeking a motivated, entrepreneurial communications associate to develop organic content for its primary social media channels and other owned channels as required. Day-to-day, the associate will own the company’s organic social calendar, drafting and scheduling content to platforms and working with teams across the organization to amplify their work and reach new, influential audiences. They will also assist our content marketing associate in developing client, provider, and referrer stories across platforms.

More broadly, the associate will also have the chance to refine the organization’s brand voice across channels, identify emerging platforms the organization may want to join, set ambitious benchmarks for success, and take the lead on managing major digital campaigns and initiatives. They will also help nourish and grow our online community, ensuring timely responses and interactions with audiences across platforms.

Responsibilities

• Publish content daily across Charlie Health’s core social media channels (LinkedIn, X, Facebook)
• Communicate internally with stakeholders across the organization to assist them in elevating their work and initiatives to core digital audiences
• Advise staff across the organization on best social media practices; enable key content creators to craft their own social media content
• Help drive the conversation around major institutional initiatives and behavioral healthcare more broadly
• Solicit stories from and interview clients, referrers, and providers to help shape the public narrative around Charlie Health’s changemaking approach to behavioral health
• Define the volume, cadence, and diversity of our social media messages, refining our social media content calendar 
• Regularly report on performance, setting ambitious goals for audience and engagement growth

Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience drafting social media content for a B2B or B2C brand
• Excellent writing skills with the ability to accurately and quickly draft expressive, thoughtful social media posts in line with our work and expertise
• Fluency with a range of social media strategies and a proven track record for increasing followers and engagements for an organization or business
• Experience producing professional-grade content for X, LinkedIn, and Facebook, with an understanding of the platforms’ respective audiences and utility 
• Superior interpersonal skills and experience partnering across an organization and with outside stakeholders
• Knowledge of social media software (we currently use Sprout)
• Basic experience with HTML and Photoshop

About the Role

• Develop and operationalize GTM strategy for efficient new market penetration
• Create, build, and manage relationships with referral sources across priority markets
• Go in the field 4 - 5 days/week to lead meetings with patients, parents, and providers to uncover needs, address barriers to treatment, and cement community partnerships

Requirements

• Ability to travel locally with reliable transportation & valid drivers license (within ~1 hour driving distance) 4-5 days/week for meetings with potential referral partners

Responsibilities

• Partner with Growth, Marketing, Revenue, and Operations to turn ambiguous business questions into clear analytical recommendations that influence strategy and decision-making
• Build and iterate on lead, account, and ICP scoring models that help reps prioritize efforts and partner with Ops on data-driven territory design
• Develop models to analyze successful high-performer rep patterns to optimize onboarding and productivity
• Architect and maintain a trusted marketing measurement framework (e.g. MMM, incrementality testing [geo tests, holdouts, lift studies]), & align on consistent metric definitions (e.g. CAC, conversion, retention)
• Develop spend optimization & channel allocation frameworks that account for saturation, diminishing returns, and the tradeoff between short-term acquisition and long-term outcomes
• Apply causal inference methods (DiD, synthetic controls, quasi-experiments) to own channel-level incrementality measurement, with clear decision rules & guardrails for each approach

Requirements

• 7+ years in data science/analytics roles, at least 3 of those years with Marketing, Sales, and/or Revenue teams
• Demonstrated ability to navigate an ambiguous data environment, with start-up experience preferred related questions and provide approaches with appropriate statistical rigor to a wide variety of stakeholders
• Familiarity with CRMs (e.g. Salesforce), Marketing Platforms, and the metrics / terminology associated with them (CAC, Opps, etc.) 
• Experience with modeling work that spans at least some of: MMM, LTV, Lead Scoring, Attribution Modeling, and Segmentation
• Strong technical proficiency: SQL, Python or R, modern ELT/ETL, OLAP databases (e.g., Snowflake), dbt, BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Hex), and experience setting up and scaling experimentation programs (A/B tests, causal inference, lift measurement)
