About the Legal & Regulatory Group:
The Legal & Regulatory Group is responsible for partnering with Bridgewater businesses to protect the legal and regulatory interests of the firm and its clients and managing legal and regulatory risk to ensure that employees act in accordance with the highest legal and ethical standards. Our group maintains in-house expertise in many areas, including corporate, investment management, private funds, intellectual property, employment and commercial law and compliance. The team works closely with a broad range of departments within the firm and manages relationships with external counsel and regulatory consultants.
About Your Role
The Compliance Officer will be expected to contribute on day one. Together with other members of the team, the Compliance Officer will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Bridgewater’s regulatory obligations. While expected to contribute across all areas of the compliance program, core responsibilities will involve serving as the primary advisory and operational partner to at least two practice areas within Bridgewater’s Compliance Team, which include Client Service and Marketing and Conduct Risk and Control. Specific assignment will depend on the Compliance Team’s needs as well as the Compliance Officer’s aptitude and interest.
In addition, the Compliance Officer will also be expected to work with the Chief Compliance Officer (“CCO”), Deputy CCO, and other senior leaders on strategic initiatives and essential workstreams. For a high achiever, this strategic work is expected to increase over time and ultimately the scope of the role will be limited only by the abilities and dedication of the person inhabiting it. Potential strategic initiatives include marshalling AI to enhance the Compliance Department’s effectiveness and make existing controls more efficient.
You will drive the following responsibilities:
- Advising on regulatory frameworks for where, how, and to whom Bridgewater products and services can be marketed
- Review of marketing materials and overseeing the use of AI for such processes
- Management of state lobbyist filings, approvals for outbound gifts and entertainment and political contributions, and bad actor checks.
- Advising front office staff, including department heads, on regulatory matters
- Overseeing vendors and consultants with both substantive and operational roles to ensure quality outcomes
- Navigating and advising on medium level compliance, client service, and investment complexities

- 3-5 years at a law firm and/or in-house legal or compliance team with a focus on financial services regulation

- Strong project management and oversight capabilities; willingness to hold others accountable to deadlines and obligations

- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- J.D. preferred
- Familiarity with regulations applicable to alternative investment managers and private funds preferred, but not required for the right candidate
Physical Requirements
The onsite requirement for this role is four days per week at our Westport, CT headquarters campus.
Compensation
The wage range for this role is $160,000-$245,000 of base salary and discretionary bonus. The expected base salary for this role is between 70-90% of this wage range.

About the role:
The Corporate Legal Operations Associate will provide general administrative and paralegal support to Bridgewater’s Legal team and respond to requests with appropriate action and confidentiality. The Legal and Regulatory team is seeking an Operations Associate to support and partner with our senior counsel on a broad range of functions, including (1) document management and organization; (2) project management and tracking; (3) contract review and drafting; (4) corporate governance assisting with entity annual filings and registrations; and (5) preparation of presentations and communications for internal and external use. The ideal candidate will be intellectually curious and able to independently navigate multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
You will drive the following responsibilities:
- Interface with various departments to collect information/documents, respond to requests and obtain services on behalf of managers
- Create, edit and format documents using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Pro and Litera (compare software)
- Manage files on internal document management systems, and support knowledge management initiatives (including organizing and maintaining legal resources, templates, and precedent documents for easy access by the team)
- Update matter management system and other shared/collaborative sites
- Interface with outside counsel and staff
We are looking for candidates with the following minimum qualifications:
- At least 3-5 years administrative or paralegal experience supporting multiple attorneys; experience working in a fast-paced law firm environment and/or corporate legal department strongly preferred
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Superior organizational skills
- Ability to draft and execute communications and legal documents
- Strong writing skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Adobe

About the Role:
We are seeking a talented, analytical and practical lawyer to join our Investment Management Legal team. A broad background in asset management and investment funds practice is essential, but the right person must also have the interest in and ability to stretch across multiple disciplines, partnering with senior subject-matter experts and outside counsel across a wide variety of legal and regulatory subjects.
The successful candidate will engage in all aspects of our investment management practice spanning fund formation, preparation of offering materials, and negotiation of the full range of client and dealer facing investment agreements. You will work directly with other in-house attorneys, outside counsel, internal clients across investment, client service, and operations teams, and the banks and dealers with which we trade.
We are looking for someone with a high level of ownership and strong desire to thoughtfully contribute to strategic decisions. The environment is rigorous and dynamic and requires balancing many priorities. The team member will receive structured guidance, subject to learning milestones and hands-on experience with senior leadership designed to strengthen their technical expertise, commercial acumen, and professional judgment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Structuring, delivering, negotiating and interpreting private fund documentation, including fund offering documentation, investment management agreements, side letters and ancillary documents, and investment documentation with our counterparties, including ISDAs, futures and swaps clearing agreements, repurchase agreements, prime brokerage agreements, electronic trading agreements, and other ancillary agreements that support those relationships.
- Providing legal support for regulatory compliance activities by advising compliance, enablement and business units regarding requirements applicable to investment management, trading, marketing, conflicts of interest, and regulatory reporting.
- Proactively supporting the research, development, and launch of innovative products and novel strategies.
- Maintaining relationships with and managing outside counsel, vendors, service providers, and other third parties as required.
We are looking for a candidate with the following minimum qualifications:
- 3+ years of legal practice at a firm or in-house with meaningful exposure to asset management, private funds, or trading documentation.
- Experience drafting and negotiating any of the following types of agreements: fund offering documents, investment management agreements, side letters, ISDAs, futures and swaps clearing agreements, repurchase agreements or prime brokerage agreements,
- Familiarity with laws and regulations applicable to alternative investment managers and private funds, including those promulgated by the SEC and CFTC.
- Ability to communicate complex legal issues and deliver clear guidance to senior leadership.
- Commercial orientation and ability to provide practical counsel as a business thought partner, biased towards considered action rather than abstract legal observations.
- Passion, humility and curiosity for financial markets and asset management.
- Enthusiasm to learn and innovate at the cutting edge of the law.
