About the role
The Senior Director, Talent Acquisition will set the vision and direction for Betterment’s recruiting function, ensuring we attract, hire, and retain exceptional talent as we scale. This leader will partner closely with People team leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to design and execute a cohesive recruiting strategy, while driving operational excellence, strong analytics, and inclusive hiring practices.
This role blends strategic leadership with hands-on oversight of recruiting execution, systems, and planning, and serves as a trusted advisor to the Chief People Officer and senior leaders across the business.
This role is based out of our NYC office. Below we've reflected the base salary range we would offer for this position. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Betterment’s total compensation package for employees.
- New York City: $200,000 - $220,000

This job may also be eligible for variable compensation in the form of a company incentive bonus. For jobs based out of our NYC HQ, we require in office attendance Monday through Thursday, weekly.
What You’ll Do
- Own the Recruiting roadmap in partnership with the Recruiting team, including prioritization, resourcing, ownership, and execution
- Set the vision and strategy for Talent Acquisition in alignment with business goals and workforce plans
- Drive alignment and buy-in across cross-functional and departmental stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of recruiting initiatives
- Translate business needs into scalable recruiting strategies that support both near-term hiring goals and long-term growth
- Delegate recruiting projects and initiatives based on recruiter capacity, level, and specialty
- Own delegation of open roles aligned to the hiring plan and ensure appropriate coverage across the team
- Monitor progress against hiring goals and proactively flag risks, tradeoffs, and mitigation plans to the Chief People Officer and key stakeholders
- Personally manage senior-level or specialty searches, as needed
- Drive alignment and buy-in from hiring managers and cross-functional partners to advance inclusive hiring outcomes
- Ensure the Recruiting team produces high-quality quarterly analyses and strategic recommendations
- Use data and market insights to inform hiring strategy, prioritize investments, and influence senior leadership decisions
- Ensure recruiting systems and tools effectively support business needs and recruiting strategy at each stage of scale
- Lead evaluation, optimization, and adoption of recruiting technologies to improve efficiency and experience
What We’re Looking For
- 12+ years of progressive experience in Talent Acquisition, with experience leading and scaling high-performing recruiting teams
- Proven experience building and executing enterprise-level recruiting strategies in a fast-growing, technology-driven organization
- Track record of translating business strategy into actionable recruiting roadmaps and measurable outcomes
- Deep expertise in recruiting operations, analytics, and systems, including ATS and related recruiting technologies
- Hands-on experience overseeing senior-level, executive, and specialty searches
- Demonstrated success designing and operationalizing inclusive hiring strategies with measurable impact
- Experience developing, coaching, and retaining recruiting team
- Exceptional judgment, communication, and prioritization skills in complex, fast-paced environments

About the Role:
We are seeking a Sr. Manager, Workplace Experience to lead our in-person and virtual workplace strategy and operations. Reporting to the Sr. Director, HR & Workplace Experience, you will oversee day-to-day operations at Betterment’s HQ in NYC and ensure an exceptional employee and visitor experience.
You will develop and scale processes, programs, and policies that support our growing workforce. Acting as a thought partner to Leadership, you will align engagement strategies with business priorities, identify gaps, and implement high-impact, employee-centric solutions that enhance key moments across the employee experience.
This role is based out of our NYC office. Below we've reflected the base salary range we would offer for this position. A Day in the Life:
- Create a positive and stimulating environment in line with Betterment’s culture and values
- Serve as a primary point of contact for staff and vendors, and lead employee programming, events, and communications that strengthen community and connect distributed teams to Betterment’s mission
- Lead the design of company events like happy hours, company updates, holiday celebrations, wellness activities and more
- Craft a repeatable framework or playbook for maintenance and operations that ensures our workplaces will operate at the highest functionality possible
- Contribute to and manage workplace operating expense forecast and capital plan for construction and design projects in coordination with long-term headcount and location forecast from Finance and People Partners
- Oversee day-to-day office operations, including visitor management and shipping/receiving mail and packages, ownership of food and beverage programs, and workplace safety protocols.
- Supervise all facilities-related issues including property management, security, janitorial, and repairs as needed
- Ensure best in class approach to defining, measuring and assessing employee experience and follow up action planning, working in strong partnership and collaboration across the People Team to bring this to life
- Manage office renovations and moves as needed, working with internal and external partners to ensure all parties are aligned on plans
What We’re Looking For:
- 5+ years of experience leading office management and developing a direct team, driving strong performance outcomes
- Extensive experience supporting in-office and remote employees
- Experience leading office budgeting, furnishing, office operations, vendor management, and maintenance
- Passion for excellent customer service and delivering on small details while maintaining focus on the long-term big picture
- Experience with forecasting, adhering to budgets and managing costs
- Skilled in incident management and emergency/crisis response teams and efforts
- Ability to communicate and partner with multiple stakeholders including senior executives to get things done
- Experience working in corporate or high-growth settings with direct real estate experience (including office moves, renovations and buildouts), providing leadership in site selection, design and construction
