Staff Software Engineer (Product)
We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer (Product) to help shape the technical evolution of our product. This is a senior individual contributor role focused on building high-quality product systems, making sound technical decisions, and supporting other engineers through collaboration and example.
This role is hands-on and does not involve people management. You’ll work closely with engineers, Product, and Design to deliver meaningful customer value while keeping an eye on long-term maintainability and quality.
What You’ll Do
- Design and build complex, customer-facing product features and systems
- Take ownership of technical decisions within a product area or initiative
- Work closely with Product and Design to shape practical, scalable solutions
- Contribute to architectural discussions and technical direction across teams
- Maintain a high bar for code quality through reviews and shared standards
- Support and mentor other engineers through collaboration and knowledge sharing
- Participate in production support and help resolve incidents when needed
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for an experienced engineer who is comfortable working with autonomy, navigating ambiguity, and influencing outcomes through clear thinking and collaboration.
- Strong experience building and maintaining production software
- Experience designing and delivering complex systems or features end to end
- Solid background in modern web application development
- Experience with TypeScript and React, or similar modern frontend technologies
- Backend experience with Node.js and/or .NET (C#)
- Experience working in a cloud environment (Azure preferred, but not required)
- Familiarity with API design, data modelling, and system boundaries
- Clear communication skills and a thoughtful, collaborative approach
We don’t expect deep expertise in every area. Strength in some areas and working knowledge in others is absolutely fine.
Technical Environment (High Level)
You’ll work across much of our stack, with flexibility to lean into your strengths.
- Frontend: React, TypeScript, modern UI patterns
- Backend: Node.js and/or .NET services
- Data: Relational databases (e.g. Postgres, Azure SQL, or similar)
- Cloud: Microsoft Azure and standard cloud tooling
Experience with infrastructure as code, performance optimisation, or AI-enabled features is a plus, but not required.
Nice to Have
- Experience in B2B SaaS or complex product environments
- Exposure to regulated, security-conscious, or enterprise systems
- Experience contributing to cross-team technical initiatives
- Interest in mentoring and supporting other engineers

Job Summary:
As the Sr. Manager, Infrastructure, you’ll manage and secure our Azure/AWS cloud infrastructure while supporting onboarding, offboarding, and advanced help desk escalations. You’ll oversee compute, networking, identity, automation, and reliability, assisting with IaC, cost optimization, hybrid connectivity, and incident response. This role blends hands-on operations with governance, modernization, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manages daily cloud infrastructure operations across Azure/AWS, including compute, storage, networking, and identity.
- Oversees hybrid cloud environments, connectivity, firewalls, VPNs, ExpressRoute/Direct Connect, and VNet/VPC architectures.
- Ensures uptime, reliability, performance, and capacity planning for all cloud-hosted systems.
- Oversees infrastructure automation using Terraform, Bicep/ARM, CloudFormation, PowerShell, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Create and configure user identities in Entra ID/Azure AD and assign appropriate RBAC roles.
- Deploy required applications, security tools, and profiles using Intune, Mosyle, or equivalent MDM/endpoint platforms.
- Designs and maintains landing zones, resource hierarchies, networking topologies, and enterprise cloud architecture.
- Implements monitoring, alerting, and observability using tools like Azure Monitor, Grafana, and Sentinel.
- Owns backup/restore strategies, disaster recovery planning, high availability configurations, and resilience engineering.
- Partners with security teams on identity, access control, network security, vulnerability remediation, and compliance.
- Leads troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for cloud infrastructure issues and major incidents.
- Applies cost-optimization and FinOps strategies, including right-sizing, lifecycle policies, and reserved instance planning.
- Manages cloud infrastructure engineers, assigns work, coaches staff, and sets operational standards.
- Coordinates with DevOps, networking, platform engineering, and application teams on deployments and infrastructure changes.
- Evaluates cloud services, tools, and vendors; supports roadmap planning and infrastructure modernization initiatives.
- Supports large-scale migrations, re-platforming initiatives, and infrastructure lifecycle upgrades.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
- 7–10+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, systems engineering, or cloud operations.
- Strong hands-on expertise with Azure (preferred) and/or AWS cloud infrastructure services.
- Deep knowledge of compute, storage, networking, identity, and monitoring in cloud and hybrid environments.
- Experience managing virtual networks, load balancers, firewalls, routing, VPN/ExpressRoute, and cloud network security.
- Experience managing or mentoring engineers; able to set operational standards and drive team performance.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work across security, DevOps, networking, and application teams.
- Experience leading cloud migration or modernization projects at scale.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications like Microsoft Azure Administrator, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect.
- Experience securing containerized applications (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless environments.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and its security implications.
- Prior experience working with HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) or similar data-sensitive platform.

The Role
We’re looking for a Senior Product Manager to own and build our Extended Workforce Payments products from the ground up.
This is a 0→1 and 1→N role. You’ll define the vision, ship fast, and scale systems that handle contractor onboarding, compliance, and global payouts - while navigating the messy realities of regulations and payments infrastructure.
You’ve ideally built something similar before. You understand the nuance. You know where things break.
What You’ll Own
- End-to-end product ownershipof new Extended Workforce solutions, beginning with AOR.
- Contractor lifecycle:
- Onboarding & classification
- Contracts & documentation
- Invoicing & payouts
- Build compliant flows for North America (US + Canada)with extensibility for global expansion
- Design and scale multi-currency, cross-border payment experiences
- Partner deeply with legal, compliance, finance, and opsto translate regulatory complexity into product
- Define and drive core metrics:
- Activation & onboarding completion
- Payment success rates
- Compliance coverage
- Revenue & margin
- Work closely with engineering to build reliable, scalable systems (not duct-taped workflows)
- Talk to users constantly - HR, finance, operations, Independent contractors, customers - and turn insights into product bets
What Makes You Fit
You’ve done this before
- Built or led products in:
- AOR / COR / EOR
- Contractor management platforms
- Global payroll or contractor payments
- You understand:
- Worker classification (and how risky it gets)
- Tax forms (W-9, W-8BEN, 1099 workflows)
- Cross-border payments (FX, rails, delays, failures)
- You’re AI-literate and forward-thinking
- Comfortable using AI tools (LLMs, automation, Claude, Figma etc)in your day-to-day workflow
- Able to identify opportunities to embed AI into product experiences(e.g., compliance automation, document processing, risk detection)
- Stay current with emerging AI capabilities and apply them pragmatically—not just as hype
You’re a builder
- 3–5+ years in product, with experience in early-stage or high-growth environments or at a company within the hiring services spaces. If you have already built AOR prior, that would be a big plus.
- Comfortable going from zero structure → shipped product → scaled system
- You can balance speed vs risk vs qualitywithout getting stuck
You think in systems
- Payments, compliance, onboarding - these aren’t features to you, they are systems
- You know how to design for edge cases, failures, and scale
You’re pragmatic
- You don’t overbuild - but you also don’t cut corners where it matters
- You can work through ambiguity without waiting for perfect clarity
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with payment rails (ACH, wire, wallets, Stripe, etc.)
