Role description 

The Creative Director, Design at Article Group leads visual thinking, quality control, and team mentorship across our keynote programs.  You will be accountable for creative problem-solving, modeling creative leadership, and managing project team leadership while contributing to client-facing deliverables in a “hands-on” manner. 

You will drive creative excellence across design-centric workflows and deliverables, with a heavy focus in our keynote business. You will lead visual creatives, and ensure that work products are useful, beautiful, and on-brief. In close collaboration with cross-functional disciplines within AG, you will represent Article Group to clients and own accountability for creative decisions. You will have and maintain a pulse on emerging design trends in the event space, and enhance design methodologies, processes, and output with the goal of differentiating Article Group in the market.

As a design leader, you will be a trusted resource for designers around the agency, helping them with challenges around ideation, raising their craft, applying fit and finish, and bringing great work with coherent reasoning back to their teams. 

As a craftsperson, you will bring your design skills to making and elevating work for clients and the AG brand.

Your background skews towards keynote and presentation design, art direction, and visual storytelling. You are capable of direct partnership with strategy and engagement leads to identify client problems and plan project-level processes. You can lead the creative effort by example as both a doer and delegator of tasks while giving concise, actionable feedback to team members of all levels. Ultimately, you are responsible for crafting and advocating for the integrity of the core creative vision with team members and clients.

You will work in a remote environment. Travel for on-site events will be required. Experience as a Creative Director of content onsite at events is required.

Key responsibilities: 

• Maintains a pulse on the evolving keynote design and immersive experience landscape, and provides competitive analysis and ideas for expanded creative opportunities to Article Group leadership.
• Provides creative expertise in client pitches, work shares, and brainstorms, to establish and reinforce client confidence in Article Group’s creative capabilities.
• Leads project teams and manages creative processes and deliverables from conception through final delivery, including discovery, concepting, pitching, design development, and onsite revisions with client and production partners.
• Consults with visual creatives to push their work and their craft.
• Advocates for the creative team to senior AG leadership and clients.
• Authoritatively and persuasively presents to internal teams and clients.
• Improves internal efficiency and effectiveness by designing or refining workflows and guiding colleagues through process changes.
• Delegates or takes on design work directly as required. 
• Supports junior team members via training, feedback, and coaching for craft, communication, collaboration, and process.
• Partners regularly with senior Article Group leadership colleagues to understand client business and audience and ensure creative work fulfills strategic intent. 
• Partners regularly with engagement/project management colleagues to shape design-centric scopes of work, new business pitches, build pragmatic schedules, and prioritize resources and attention. 
• Provides creative direction and design execution for a broad range of deliverables, including but not limited to keynote presentations, sales decks, branding, motion graphics, and videos.
• Expert in Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Photoshop and Illustrator). Working knowledge of Keynote, Google Slides, Figma is expected. Knowledge of After Effects and Media Encoder is nice to have.
• Knowledge of AI tools such as Midjourney, Firefly, Runway, Claude, and Gemini is a bonus.

Minimum requirements:

• 8+ years of design experience with at least 3 years in a Creative Director or senior creative leadership role
• A portfolio that specifically showcases keynote and large-scale event presentations
• Experience working onsite at live events in a creative leadership capacity, with the ability to own the room when things go sideways during production
• Expert-level PowerPoint and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) proficiency, with working knowledge of Keynote, Google Slides, and Figma
• Demonstrated experience managing and mentoring designers, motion designers and other creatives across levels, including giving direct, actionable feedback that actually improves the work
• Cross-functional collaboration experience, specifically partnering with strategy and account leads

We’re committed to building a transparent and equitable hiring process. The salary range for this role is $140,000–$170,000, determined by experience, expertise, and location.
