Position Summary:

Structural Engineer (FL PE Required or Ability to Obtain FL PE) Location: Punta Gorda, FL  Apex is seeking an experienced Professional Engineer with a focus in structural engineering design to provide structural engineering calculations and design for a range of structures such as multi-family buildings, seawalls, docks, and park structures. The ideal candidate will have a Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain one, along with at least 5 years of structural engineering experience in related projects. This role will involve both engineering design oversight and construction phase services, ensuring projects meet technical specifications, code requirements, budgets, and timelines and assisting with client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

· Serve as Engineer of Record for Structural Portions of Projects: Responsible for structural components of design efforts.

· Structural Department Member: Work alongside with other structural engineers, structural designers/draftsmen, structural inspectors and our Structural Department Manager

· Coordination with other in-House Disciplines: Coordinate with other departments at Apex including Civil and Environmental on multi-disciplinary projects.

· Coordination with Consultants: Assist in the contracting and coordination with outside services including surveying, geotechnical engineering and mechanical, election and plumbing professionals.

· Technical Oversight: Oversee project design activities, reviewing plans, calculations, and specifications.

· Client & Stakeholder Communication: Assist the Structural Department manager with contact for clients, contractors, and agencies.

· Construction Administration (as applicable): Oversee construction engineering inspection (CEI) activities, coordinate with construction teams, review contractor submittals, and ensure compliance with project specifications.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Civil, or Structural Engineering (or related field).

· Florida PE license or ability to obtain licensure within a reasonable timeframe.

· Minimum of 5+ years of experience performing structural design.

· Strong communication and organizational skills.

• Project Leadership: Direct and manage engineering projects from initial scoping through final delivery, ensuring adherence to client requirements, quality standards, and regulations.
• Technical Oversight: Oversee project design activities, reviewing plans, calculations, and specifications. Coordinate with internal disciplines to ensure integrated solutions and regulatory compliance.
• Budget & Schedule Management: Develop and maintain project budgets and schedules. Proactively identify and address risks, changes, and delays to keep projects on track.
• Client & Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and agencies. Provide regular project status updates, address concerns, and facilitate clear communication among all parties.
• Quality Assurance & Documentation: Ensure all project deliverables, including design documents, construction observations, and final records, meet quality standards. Maintain organized project files and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Construction Administration (as applicable): Oversee construction engineering inspection (CEI) activities, coordinate with construction teams, review contractor submittals, and ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Mentorship & Team Collaboration: Support junior staff development by providing guidance, reviewing work, and fostering a collaborative, solutions-oriented environment.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Environmental Engineering (or related field).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license desired.
• Minimum of 5+ years of experience managing civil engineering projects.
• Proven ability to develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules, and to lead multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Position Summary 

The Project Administrator will support Project Managers and technical teams based out of our Punta Gorda office. This role focuses on administrative, contractual, and project coordination tasks that help ensure smooth execution of projects across the Southeast Division. The ideal candidate is organized, detail‑oriented, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced consulting environment. 

Your Responsibilities as a Project Administrator:

• Assist Project Managers with contract administration, including drafting, reviewing, and tracking contract documents, amendments, sub-agreements, and compliance requirements. 
• Support project setup in internal systems, ensuring accuracy of budgets, billing rates, task codes, and contractual obligations. 
• Coordinate project schedules, deadlines, and deliverables with internal staff and external partners. 
• Maintain project files, documentation logs, subcontractor records, and QA/QC forms in SharePoint or designated systems. 
• Track project progress, deliverable status, risks, and issues; assist with preparing project status reports. 
• Support invoice preparation, accounts payable coordination, and monthly billing cycles. 
• Monitor aged receivables and support project managers with collections. 
• Schedule and coordinate project meetings, take notes, and distribute action items. 
• Provide general administrative support to project teams across Florida offices. 

What we're looking for:

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Engineering or related field preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in an administrative support or project coordination role (AEC industry preferred). 
• Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail. 
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and collaboration tools such as SharePoint and Teams. 
• Basic understanding of contracts, proposals, or project financials. 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and collaboratively.
