The Schwarzman Animal Medical Center (AMC) in New York City invites applications for a full-time Veterinary Dermatologist to help develop and grow our Dermatology services as part of a collaborative, mission-driven, nonprofit veterinary teaching hospital. The successful candidate will provide advanced specialty care, teach and mentor house officers and rotating trainees, and work closely with other specialty and emergency teams to deliver exceptional, compassionate care for animals and the people who love them.

This role is designed for a board-certified or board-eligible dermatologist who thrives in a high-caseload, specialty-referral environment and values teaching and service. Position structure will be tailored to the candidate’s experience and interests and may include a clinician-educator focus and participation in outcomes-driven clinical research and scholarly activity. The clinical position will be structured as an independent veterinary dermatology service that reports directly to the Chief Medical Officer.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching Duties

• Provide clinical teaching to rotating interns, residents, and other trainees within the Dermatology and Otology Service, integrated with case management and client communication.
• Participate in didactic teaching as assigned, including hospital rounds, resident seminars, and continuing education activities.
• Mentor house officers in clinical reasoning, procedural skills (including otic diagnostics/therapeutics), professionalism, and effective communication.

Clinical Service and Outreach Duties

• Deliver comprehensive specialty care for dermatologic and otic disease, including outpatient evaluation, diagnostic planning, medical and procedural management, and inpatient consultation as needed.
• Provide outstanding client service in a high-acuity referral setting, including timely updates, shared decision-making, and clear written instructions.
• Communicate effectively with referring veterinarians through consult reports, direct outreach, and collegial collaboration.
• Partner with colleagues across specialties (e.g., internal medicine, surgery, oncology, emergency/critical care, diagnostic imaging) to coordinate complex case care.
• Participate in community and professional outreach consistent with AMC’s nonprofit mission, including educational events and public-facing initiatives as appropriate.

Research and Scholarly Duties

AMC supports outcomes-driven clinical research and scholarship that advances patient care and education.

• Develop and/or participate in clinical research projects, case series, and quality improvement initiatives; disseminate findings through presentations and peer-reviewed publication.
• Contribute to resident and intern scholarly work (e.g., mentorship on study design, abstracts, manuscripts).
• Collaborate with clinical and research colleagues across AMC to support translational and educational innovation when relevant.

Education and Experience Requirements

Required

• DVM or equivalent degree.
• Completion of an ACVD, ECVD, or AiCVD-approved residency in dermatology; board-certified or board-eligible.
• Eligibility for New York State veterinary licensure.
• Demonstrated excellence in patient care, client communication, and collaboration in a specialty referral setting.
• Commitment to teaching and mentoring in a veterinary training environment.

Preferred

• Demonstrated interest and experience in program/service development and building referral relationships.
• Track record of clinical scholarship (e.g., publications, presentations, clinical trials, outcomes research) and/or an advanced degree or equivalent research experience.
• Experience teaching and mentoring interns/residents and contributing to continuing education.
• Interest in advanced otology diagnostics and procedures (e.g., video-otoscopy) and multidisciplinary management of complex ear disease.

The Animal Medical Center’s world-renowned Cancer Institute is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Medical Oncologist (ACVIM or ECVIM) with PHD and research experience to join our dedicated oncology team, which includes medical, radiation, and surgical oncology.

The position will be a clinical oncology role with protected research time and flexibility to expand research responsibilities over time. 

In this role, the incumbent will lead our academic research efforts, by developing clinical trials, fostering translational collaborations, and advancing evidence-based oncology initiatives. In parallel, the incumbent will provide compassionate, high-quality clinical oncology care, including diagnosis, staging, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and palliative care. This individual will also drive the adoption of innovative medical practices and serve as a key advisor to the team on emerging and novel therapies, both currently in practice and those on the horizon of becoming the standard of care.

The Cancer Institute at the Animal Medical Center is modeled after progressive, patient-centered human cancer hospitals. The Animal Medical Center’s Cancer Institute is a revolutionary medical center created to provide integrative and comprehensive care for pets diagnosed with cancer. This innovative design enables our staff to deliver on the Institute’s core mission – to care for more animals, focus on early detection, maximize the amount of time pet parents can spend with their beloved pets while maintaining a good quality of life, and work toward a cure through advanced research. The Cancer Institute consists of three ACVIM board-certified oncologists, two ACVR board certified radiation oncologists, and one ACVS board-certified Fellow in Surgical Oncology, three residents in medical oncology, two residents in radiation oncology, one specialty intern in medical oncology, and 32 rotating general interns. Supporting services to the Cancer Institute include high-field MRI, 64-slice CT with advanced reconstruction capabilities, and Interventional Radiology. Additionally, the AMC has an on-site IDEXX laboratory including on-site clinical and anatomical pathologists with stat cytology capabilities. The AMC is equipped with a new Elekta Infinity Linac system with electron and 6- MV photon capability equipped with a 6-degree HexaPOD couch and a cone-beam CT for IMRT, VMAT and SRS and for 4DCT respiratory gating. The Radiation Oncology department is also equipped with a Strontium probe for the treatment of small surface lesions (ex: feline nasal planum SCC, feline cutaneous MCT and avian uropygial SCC).
