Roadway Senior Project Manager
Benesch is seeking to hire a Senior Project Manager to join the Roadway Design team in Raleigh! In this position, you'll hold a management position with guidance from senior leadership. This role entails supervising staff, mentoring their technical skills, and contributing to project management on NCDOT projects and beyond.
Location
This position will work in our Raleigh office on a hybrid work schedule.
The Impact You Will Have
- Provide guidance and direction in technical project elements, ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of analyses and designs, thereby enhancing project outcomes and client satisfaction
- Communicate technical progress and issues to Project Managers promptly, facilitating informed decision-making and proactive problem-solving, ultimately contributing to project efficiency and success
- Train and mentor staff, imparting technical knowledge and skills and fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the team
- Perform, review, and manage technical analyses and designs, ensuring completeness and compliance with quality standards, thereby mitigating risks and ensuring project integrity
- Assist with business development and proposal development, leveraging technical expertise to secure new opportunities and drive company growth
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on projects, providing specialized knowledge and insights to optimize project outcomes and deliver added value to clients
- Share knowledge to enhance organizational learning and performance, facilitating continuous improvement and innovation across projects and teams
What You Will Need
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Professional Engineering license in NC
- Previous NCDOT project experience and understanding of NCDOT processes and procedures preferred
- Showcase strong analytical and problem-solving skills, enabling efficient decision-making and resolution of complex technical challenges
- Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills to interface with stakeholders, fostering clear and transparent communication channels and promoting collaboration
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, facilitating clear and concise interactions with clients, team members, and stakeholders

Civil Construction Technical Manager
We have a career opportunity for a Civil Construction Technical Manager with a proven track record of successfully managing a broad range of construction projects. In this role you will both self-perform and direct project teams in the administration of construction projects, as well as play an important role in managing client relationships. You will also contribute to strategic initiatives that drive the growth of the construction group.
Location
This position offers flexibility within the front range of Colorado. We welcome candidates from diverse areas including but not limited to Greeley, Fort Collins, Johnstown, in addition to the Denver Metro area.
The Impact You Will Have
- Review and assure project supervisor of the adequacy of budget and schedule
- Perform construction observation of construction activities and follow applicable project procedures
- Maintain a field book in accordance with project procedures
- Perform measurements of construction work performed and quantity calculations of pay items
- Prepare Inspector’s Daily Reports and other project documentation as required by the project procedures and as directed by the project supervisor
- Report to the project supervisor on the progress of work, including technical issues, the status of work remaining to be done, and any noted deficiencies
- Review plans, specifications, and submittals relating to assigned work
- Provide design or other professional assistance to project managers
- Maintain company-owned vehicle or other equipment assigned for use on the project
What We Are Looking For
- B.S. degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field required
- 20+ years of experience in a construction role is desired
- Prior experience working with cities, counties, or local municipalities preferred. Evidence of return work a plus
- Excellent communication and intrapersonal skills
- Strong organization and ability to perform services efficiently and within budgets and schedules
- Ability to work outside on foot for extended periods of time
- Willingness to be flexible with variable work shifts during the work week
- Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment
- Good driving record and valid driver's license
- Collaborative approach that can mentor less experienced staff and ability to build relationships with the larger team, Clients, other Consultants, and the Contractor
- Potential to support business development activities with new and existing clients

We have a career opportunity for a Construction Representative to work on a broad range of construction projects. In this role, you will be responsible for the daily inspection and documentation of infrastructure projects, including road, water main, and sewer construction, and will play an important role in managing client relationships. As a Construction Representative, you will also contribute to strategic initiatives that drive the growth of the construction group.

Civil Construction Engineering Internship

Work alongside Benesch’s Construction Engineering professionals who are dedicated to delivering high-quality solutions for infrastructure projects. As a Civil Construction Intern, you will support the inspection and documentation of road, water main, and sewer construction projects. This role offers hands-on field experience, exposure to construction observation, project documentation, and the opportunity to learn directly from experienced engineers and project managers.
Location
This internship is field-based, with opportunities to collaborate on active projects and receive mentorship from Project Engineers and Project Managers.
What You Will Need
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Civil or Construction Engineering from an ABET-accredited university (EIT preferred)
- Experience working on field projects a plus
- Familiarity with ArcGIS, MicroStation, GeoPak, and/or AutoCAD is desirable
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work efficiently within budgets and schedules
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record #LI-MM1

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in accordance with the State of Illinois Pay Transparency Act, Illinois Pay Transparency Law. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on numerous factors, including but not limited to individual education, qualifications, prior work experience, and geographic location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary, overtime, and bonuses.
