What We Are Looking For

Gearbox is looking for a talented Helpdesk Technician I to join our team.

This candidate will join a high performing Helpdesk team in supporting our studio. You’ll be friendly and eager to dive into any problem thrown your way. You’ll be comfortable with a wide range of hardware and software, and rarely settle for the default settings. You’ll think automation first and manual second. This individual must be self-starter and be willing to handle all manner of tasks with a positive attitude and a minimum of hand-holding. This position will require you to carry a mobile device and will occasionally require after-hours and weekend work.

Full-time Onsite: This position requires working from our office 5 days a week.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support and assistance related to computer systems, hardware, and software

• What you might work on:

  • A system to deploy PCs to employees in less than ten minutes

  • A developer’s high-end PC with more RAM than you can shake a stick at (you get a good one too)

  • An inventory system so you can find anything, anywhere, without leaving your desk

  • Wired and wireless and VPN problems that defy your Googling skills

  • A software deployment system to push the latest applications and system patches, within minutes

  • All manner of gaming systems and developer kits

Qualifications

• Outstanding customer service and interaction skills, both verbal and written

• History of “whatever it takes”, hands-on support

• Experience with Windows OS and applications, in a networked environment

• Works well as part of a team in a fun, fast-paced environment

• Able to lift 50 pounds of awesome gear

Nice-to-Haves

• Familiarity with an issue tracking system, including reporting and metrics (Jira preferred)

• Experience with Linux systems

• Experience with Mac systems

• Experience with TCP/IP networking

Responsibilities:

• Design, mix, and edit original high-quality sound effects in a DAW for key game features, including complex systems like weapons and character audio.
• Perform Foley and field recording to support sound design needs.
• Implement audio assets into Wwise and Unreal Engine 5, ensuring they fit cohesively within the overall game mix.
• Collaborate closely with cross-disciplinary teams (design, FX, programming, animation) to meet audio needs and support system development.
• Manage tasks and track bugs using JIRA to support efficient audio production.
• Deliver high-quality audio assets on time, meeting project standards and creative goals.
• Contribute to team initiatives like sound jams and support troubleshooting of in-game audio issues.

Qualifications:

• 7+ years of experience in sound design, including full project lifecycle contribution as a Senior Sound Designer or equivalent.
• Proficient in mixing, editing, Foley, field recording, and modern audio design techniques for games.
• Strong understanding of audio middleware and current game industry trends.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to give and receive constructive feedback effectively.
• Skilled in creating clear documentation, such as style guides and system specifications.
