About the Team - Technical Operations Center

Our team is responsible for the infrastructure and operations of all production systems supporting consumers, developers, and customer account services under the 2K label. With systems and services spanning both on-premise and cloud-based data centers, we ensure the backend stays up and running so players can enjoy an uninterrupted gaming experience. We’re looking for a collaborative and proactive engineer who’s ready to make an impact from Austin and beyond.

What We Need

We are seeking a highly motivated Technical Operations Center Analyst to join our 24/7 Technical Operations Center team. This role is a vital part of our live service operations, critical for maintaining the high availability, performance, and reliability of our global game infrastructure. You will work closely with other technical teams to ensure 2K’s global community enjoys an uninterrupted gaming experience and our studios enjoy uninterrupted development time on their titles. 

The ideal candidate is a composed professional who is eager to grow their technical expertise in incident, problem, and service request management. You must be adept at handling immediate, high-pressure incident responses while remaining process-oriented to help optimize operational workflows and service delivery. A fundamental understanding of IT and technology is a must, with preference given to strong troubleshooters with a bias towards automation. 

What You Will Do

• Actively monitoring and acting as a key escalation point for both expected and unexpected events involving production applications, systems, and cloud infrastructure.
• Ensuring uptime and performance standards are met for a seamless gaming experience.
• Acting as the primary point of contact during major incidents to provide clear, regular updates to stakeholders while ensuring the correct technical teams are notified and engaged for resolution.
• Maintaining post-incident documentation to ensure all major incidents include a comprehensive postmortem, supporting root cause analysis and audit compliance.
• Ensuring all incident management and operational activities are thoroughly documented and compliant with audits.
• Managing and resolving incoming technical service requests and user-submitted tickets, ensuring timely fulfillment and a high level of customer service.

What You Will Do

• Technical Escalation: Act as a key escalation point for both expected and unexpected events involving production applications, systems, and cloud infrastructure.
• Infrastructure Maintenance: Maintain our global infrastructure across both on-premise and public cloud platforms.
• Automation Leadership: Propose and implement complex automation strategies to improve overall efficiency and system performance.
• SRE Collaboration: Work closely with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams to onboard and implement innovative technical solutions.
• Performance Standards: Ensure uptime and performance standards are met for a seamless gaming experience.
• Advanced Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve high-level technical issues involving production networks and system operations.
• Documentation & Audit: Ensure all operational activities and technical configurations are thoroughly documented and remain compliant with audits.
• Service Fulfillment: Oversee the resolution of technical service requests and user-submitted tickets, ensuring a high level of customer service.

What We Need
We are looking for a Technical Lead for our Technical Operations Center (TOC) to ensure the stability, performance, and operational health of our global live game services. This critical, hands-on leadership role acts as the primary escalation point for the TOC Engineers. Technical expertise is essential, as the team monitors a complex, global datacenter network. The ideal candidate will have a track record for leading small teams in a highly technical, process-driven environment.

You'll partner directly with Infrastructure Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and Development teams, bringing deep operational expertise to manage complex systems, champion rigorous incident management processes, and secure the best possible experience for our millions of players at scale.

What You Will Do

• Lead by example in live service monitoring, incident response, and service restoration across 2K's global game platforms.
• Act as the primary technical escalation point for the TOC team, leading and coordinating the technical response during high-severity incidents to ensure rapid service recovery.
• Partner closely with Infrastructure, SRE, and Development teams to define shared operational goals, improve system observability, and drive the delivery of robust, high-availability services.
• Refine, document, and champion TOC Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Runbooks, ensuring alignment, transparency, and consistent execution of operational processes across all shifts.
• Establish, enforce, and technically audit operational best practices across the engineering organization, ensuring deployment processes, service configuration, and monitoring strategies meet the highest standards for service health and stability.
• Mentor and coach junior TOC engineers, providing technical guidance and direction to ensure effective execution, skill development, and professional growth within the team.

Who We Think Will Be A Great Fit

• The Lead: 5+ years in high-volume Tech Ops, SRE, or NOC environments, with 2+ years leading major Incident Management efforts.
• Cloud & OS Expert: Expert-level knowledge of AWS (GCP/Azure a plus) and advanced administration skills in both Linux and Windows production environments.
• Virtualization Specialist: Deep hands-on experience with VMware (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter) in enterprise environments. Familiarity with other platforms like Proxmox, KVM, Hyper-V, or WSL is a plus.
• Automation Mindset: Deep familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, or Pulumi.
• Networking Pro: Expertise in networking protocols, firewall permissions, and the ability to perform deep-dive network triage under pressure.
• Full Stack Passion: You are a lifelong learner passionate about the entire stack. You actively pursue formal training and certifications to stay ahead of the curve.
• Communicator: Exceptional interpersonal skills; you build trust quickly and can translate complex technical "firefights" into clear updates for non-technical stakeholders.
• Education: A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering is preferred. Relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, SRE, AWS) are a major plus.

Experience supporting AAA game development or publishing infrastructure for a global live-service title.
