Position Summary
As a Buyer, you are responsible for supporting the procurement process by processing requisitions, issuing RFQs, and ensuring timely delivery of components.
You will work under the supervision of more experienced team members, assisting in negotiations, monitoring supplier performance, and resolving basic issues that arise such as working collaboratively to resolve accounts payable/receivable discrepancies, while contributing to cost management efforts.
Your role focuses on learning and applying procurement fundamentals while developing the ability to handle increasingly complex tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Procurement Support: assist with processing purchase requisitions in a timely manner and support the ordering of materials through RFQs to suppliers. Handle return merchandise authorizations (RMAs) and expedite or adjust orders to align with production demands. Supports accounts payable/receivable discrepancies through detailed analysis and problem-solving.
- Supplier Interaction: Track and ensure timely delivery of components from suppliers. Help monitor supplier performance and escalate delivery issues when necessary.
- Negotiations: Participate in basic negotiations for pricing, volume, and delivery schedules with guidance.
- Process Improvements: Contribute to identifying inefficiencies and assist in implementing process improvements.
- Strategic Focus: Operational focus on purchasing tasks
- Learning & Development: Begin to develop a working knowledge of product specifications and BOMs (bills of materials), helping to ensure proper purchasing.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with team members and management to gain exposure to best practices and procurement strategies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business Administration or equivalent with 2+ years of related experience or master’s degree without experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and MRP systems
- Strong attention to detail, multitasking ability, proactive approach to learning and problem-solving in a dynamic environment
- Ability to work independently or with a team on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Fluent in English with strong written and verbal communication skills.
