BISA Station Operations Assistant

The Borlaug Institute for South Asia (BISA) is a non-profit international research institute dedicated to food, nutrition, and livelihood security as well as environmental rehabilitation in South Asia, which is home to more than 300 million undernourished people. We are seeking dynamic, innovative, self-motivated, and service-oriented professional for the position of BISA Station Operations Assistant.

The position will be based in Ludhiana.

The main responsibilities of this position will be:

• Effectively manage and maintain the stock register of consumables.
• Support station operations with issues of indent, PR, GRN, SRN, etc.
• Implement proper procedures for the procurement and disposal of farm produce.
• Prepare and maintain proper production register and records for seed processing.
• Vendor management following due diligence and compliance.
• Ensure timely settlement of bills/invoices.
• Support implementation, transition, and ongoing operational management of integrated digital systems for inventory, warehouse, procurement, production, sales, asset management, operational reporting, and enterprise process governance at the station level.
• Maintain the BISA-Ludhiana Training Hostel, ensuring high standards and safety.
• Manage and maintain the fixed asset register and ensure tagging of fixed assets.
• Manage manual registers and QuickBooks software, following proper financial, administrative, HR, and procurement guidelines.
• Support the management of the Seed Production Unit, including preparation and maintenance of a proper sale register for the seeds, grains, or commercial produce after each crop season.
• Prepare and maintain proper records of inventory and standing crops.
• Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor

Requirements

We are seeking candidates with the following academic qualifications, experience, skills, and attitudes:

• Bachelor’s degree in commerce /business administration/agriculture or related field with minimum three years of experience in business operations, especially inventory management, agricultural field activities, farm operations, or seed production.
• Strong experience in preparing purchase orders, vendor selection, due diligence, handling quotations, comparative statements, management of procurement records, and documentation.
• Good working knowledge of MS Office, ERP systems, inventory management systems, and digital operational reporting tools.
• Strong communication, coordination, and supervisory skills.
• Good oral and written communication skills in English.
• Candidate with experience in agriculture, inventory management, warehouse operations, ERP systems, seed production, or research management, will be preferred

Benefits

The position is for an initial fixed-term contract of 1 year with annual renewal subject to performance. Thereafter, the contract would be renewed based on overall performance and the continued availability of funds. BISA offers an attractive remuneration package, with a range of benefits including health insurance.
