Job Description: SDET (Software Development Engineer in Test)
We are looking for a skilled Mid-Senior SDET to own test strategy and automation across our platform, spanning two distinct technology stacks: a .NET / SQL Server service, and a set of Node.js / AWS Lambda serverless microservices that share a common stack. You will build and maintain automated test coverage across the .NET/SQL Server service and event-driven AWS microservices, validating both synchronous APIs and asynchronous, queue-driven workflows, while partnering closely with engineers to define testability requirements early in feature design.
Essential Functions
●Design and implement automated test suites across our .NET/SQL Server service and Node.js Lambda microservices.
● Build and maintain unit and integration tests using Mocha, Chai, and Nock (HTTP mocking) for Node.js Lambda functions.
● Track and report code coverage using c8, enforcing coverage thresholds in CI.
● Validate event-driven flows involving SQS and EventBridge, including async processing and message-based integration paths.
● Test REST API contracts across both external (public, REGIONAL) and internal (PRIVATE, VPC- isolated) API Gateway endpoints, including SCIM 2.0 compliance validation.
● Validate data layer changes across SQL Server and RDS Aurora PostgreSQL, including DACPAC- based schema deployments.
● Build test coverage into CI/CD pipelines (Azure Pipelines) across DEV → QE → STG → UAT → PE → PROD.
● Validate Terraform-provisioned infrastructure behaves as expected per environment (dev/dev1/uat/qe/prod).
● Monitor test failures and application behavior using CloudWatch Logs and Dynatrace.
● Partner with engineers to define testability requirements early in feature design across the platform.
Skills and Abilities Required
Must-Haves:
● Strong experience with Mocha, Chai, Nock, and c8 (or directly equivalent JS testing tools).
● Experience testing AWS serverless architectures (Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, EventBridge).
● Working knowledge of SQL Server and data validation/testing for .NET applications.
● Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Azure Pipelines or equivalent).
● Ability to test across two distinct architectures (monolithic .NET/SQL vs. distributed serverless)within the same role.
● Familiarity with API testing tools/approaches for both REST and event-driven (queue-based) systems.
Nice-to-Haves:
● Experience validating SCIM 2.0-compliant services.
● Experience with Terraform-provisioned test/staging environments.
● Experience with Dynatrace or CloudWatch-based test observability.
● Experience testing payments or identity/access management systems.
Education
● Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience
● 4–8 years of professional QA/SDET experience, including test automation ownership.
● Experience delivering production test automation across multiple, architecturally distinct systems preferred.
● Experience working in Agile or team-based development environments preferred.
Accountability / Scope
● People Management: No.
● Scope: Individual contributor responsible for test strategy and automation coverage across the product portfolio.
● Decision Making: Makes test-design and tooling decisions within defined quality standards and guidance.
Travel Requirements
● Minimal to none.
