Our client is a Los Angeles-based commercial painting contractor specializing in large-scale commercial painting projects. With a lean, high-performing estimating team, the company manages a high volume of bids each month and is looking for a dedicated remote estimator to become a long-term extension of its in-house operations.
This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator with commercial painting experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys producing accurate, competitive estimates with minimal supervision.
About the Role
We are seeking a Full-Time Commercial Painting Estimator to support the company's growing bidding pipeline. You will prepare detailed takeoffs, review drawings and specifications, communicate with clients to clarify project scope, and develop competitive estimates for commercial painting and coatings projects across the United States.
The ideal candidate already understands commercial painting estimating and can quickly integrate into an established workflow without extensive training.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs for commercial painting and coatings projects using PlanSwift and Excel.
Review architectural drawings, specifications, finish schedules, and painting scopes.
Interpret painting-specific specifications, products, coatings, wall coverings, and finish requirements.
Communicate with clients and project stakeholders to clarify scope, specifications, and bid requirements.
Develop competitive cost estimates based on production rates, labor, materials, and project conditions.
Identify exclusions, assumptions, and potential scope gaps before submitting proposals.
Support a high-volume monthly bidding schedule while maintaining accuracy and deadlines.
Collaborate closely with the internal estimating team to ensure consistency across bids.
Maintain organized estimating files and documentation throughout the bidding process.
Continuously improve estimated quality and efficiency through proactive communication and attention to detail.
Qualifications
Required
2–5+ years of estimating experience specifically in commercial painting, coatings, or wall coverings.
Experience estimating projects for U.S.-based commercial painting contractors.
Strong understanding of commercial painting methods, coatings, finishes, and labor productivity.
Proficiency with PlanSwift and Microsoft Excel.
Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and construction specifications.
Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
Preferred
Native Spanish speaker with strong English proficiency.
Experience working remotely with U.S.-based construction companies.
Familiarity with commercial bid documents, RFIs, and scope clarification processes.
Experience estimating projects across multiple U.S. regions.
