Lead the Installation of Mission-Critical Building Systems
The successful delivery of hyperscale data centers and mission-critical facilities depends on expertly coordinated Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection (MEP) systems. Position Overview
As an MEP Construction Manager, you will lead field execution and coordination of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and controls construction activities on large-scale data center and infrastructure projects. You will oversee MEP subcontractors, vendors, commissioning activities, and project teams to ensure systems are installed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements. This role serves as a critical link between engineering, construction, commissioning, and operations teams, ensuring MEP systems are constructed, tested, and delivered to meet project objectives. Success requires strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and the ability to manage complex field operations while maintaining safety, quality, schedule, and budget expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead field execution and coordination of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and controls construction activities.
- Manage MEP subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, and field personnel to ensure safe and productive project execution.
- Review MEP drawings, specifications, schedules, and work plans to support constructability and field readiness.
- Coordinate installation activities across multiple trades to minimize conflicts and maintain project schedules.
- Support startup, testing, commissioning, and turnover activities to ensure systems achieve operational readiness.
- Identify and resolve field issues, design conflicts, and execution challenges that impact project performance.
What You'll Do
- Manage MEP construction activities supporting hyperscale data centers and mission-critical infrastructure projects.
- Coordinate daily field operations between project management, engineering, commissioning, and subcontractor teams.
- Monitor installation progress, manpower, productivity, and quality to ensure project objectives are achieved.
- Lead construction meetings, schedule reviews, and coordination efforts involving multiple MEP disciplines.
- Promote and reinforce Michels' safety culture while maintaining quality and performance expectations across all project activities.
- Track project risks, communicate field updates, and develop solutions that support successful project delivery.

What It Takes
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field and 7+ years of MEP construction experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience managing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and controls installation activities on large commercial, industrial, healthcare, mission-critical, or data center projects.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical distribution systems, plumbing systems, fire protection systems, and building controls.
- Experience coordinating multiple MEP trades and managing complex field operations within active construction environments.
- Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings, specifications, shop drawings, schedules, and commissioning requirements.
- Experience supporting startup, testing, commissioning, and project turnover activities.
- Familiarity with BIM coordination, constructability reviews, clash detection processes, and project collaboration platforms.
- Experience with Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar construction management software.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience supporting hyperscale data center or mission-critical facility projects preferred.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to travel up to 75% and support onsite project assignments as required.
