Sobre esta vaga de Bloomberg Associates, Media & Digital Strategies Fellow na Bloomberg Philanthropies

Bloomberg Philanthropies · Presencial · New York, New York, United States

Background

Bloomberg Philanthropies works to create catalytic change across five areas of focus: arts and culture, education, the environment, government innovation, and public health. Our mission is to ensure better, longer lives for the greatest number of people. Our approach is rooted in Mike Bloomberg's unique experience and success across the field of business, government, and philanthropy.

Bloomberg Associates (BA) is Bloomberg Philanthropies’ pro bono consulting service founded by Michael R. Bloomberg, the 108th Mayor of New York City and Founder of Bloomberg LP, as a philanthropic venture. We provide services to cities that help governments improve the quality of life of their citizens.  BA works across nine (9) different focus areas: Cultural Assets Management, Marketing & Communications, Media and Digital Strategies, Municipal Integrity, Social Services, Sustainability, Transportation, Economic Development and Urban Planning, with teams that have deep subject matter expertise and extensive experience in municipal government.

The Position

The Media and Digital Strategies Team at Bloomberg Associates is seeking an Urban Fellow to support a range of digital transformation and media projects across global client cities. The Fellow will primarily support city engagements in North and South America, and in Europe.

The Team supports client cities in advancing digital transformation efforts—helping governments modernize how they communicate, engage residents, and deliver services through digital tools and platforms. This includes digital strategy development, digital transformation initiatives, social media, innovation, and the use of data and analytics to improve public service performance and impact.

This role will be part-time, working 20 hours per week, on average. The Fellow will be on an initial 6-month contract. The Fellow will work remotely but should be located in the New York metro area to attend periodic meetings at the office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct independent, in-depth research, best practice review, and analysis in areas including, but not limited to:

  • Digital Transformation in Government: Research strategies and models for how cities are modernizing digital communications, improving service delivery, and building internal digital capacity.
  • Online Safety and Youth Engagement: Analyze approaches to reducing online harms affecting young people, including digital behavior change campaigns, platform engagement strategies, and partnerships with community organizations.
  • Global Digital Strategy: Support research and adaptation of digital strategies across international contexts, including cultural, linguistic, and platform-specific considerations.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Develop memos, research briefs, case studies, and presentations based on findings.
  • Identify, outreach to, and conduct interviews with government officials, digital leaders, and subject matter experts.
  • Engage, coordinate with, and present to internal teams and client stakeholders.
  • Provide general project support across multiple city engagements as needed.

Qualifications of the ideal candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public policy, journalism, marketing, international affairs, or a related field, and a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in government, nonprofit, media, digital strategy, or technology. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Strong interest in digital transformation in the public sector, including how governments use digital tools to improve outcomes and engagement.
  • Demonstrated experience in research, and writing, with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling narratives.
  • Ability to synthesize large amounts of information and present insights in clear, visually engaging formats (e.g., PowerPoint; familiarity with tools like Canva or Tableau is a plus).
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
  • Comfortable working through ambiguity and adapting to evolving project needs.
  • Entrepreneurial, proactive mindset with a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach.
  • Interest in global cities and ability to work across diverse cultural and geographic contexts.
