About the Role
We're looking for an AI Solution Lead to act as the strategic-technical bridge between our Optimization function and Engineering. This is a Individual Contributor role — not hands-on engineering — focused on ensuring what gets built is the right thing, designed the right way, with the foundations to scale.
You'll help the Optimization function transition from rule-based automation to AI-native, agentic execution, reporting directly to the Head of Optimization while also providing technical mentorship to fellow Individual Contributors.
What You'll Do
Solution Architecture & Technical Design (70%)
- Translate validated business requirements into scalable solution architectures — data flows, integration patterns, AI model selection, exception paths, and monitoring.
- Justify design decisions against an Eliminate → Anticipate → Agent → Assist hierarchy.
- Own the architecture sign-off gate before any solution enters the engineering backlog .
Technical Feasibility & Build-vs-Buy (10%)
- Assess the technical feasibility, complexity, and platform fit for new initiatives, evaluating build vs. configure vs. buy options.
- Identify opportunities for reuse across approximately 110 active solutions and maintain the Solution Catalogue.
AI Governance & Standards (10%)
- Own technical standards: design patterns, AI tool governance tiers, AI registry entries, and quality frameworks for "production-ready" AI.
- Develop reusable frameworks, reference architectures, and decision trees for the wider organisation.
Cross-Functional Enablement (10%)
- Translate architecture into business language—and business requirements into technical architecture—while facilitating architecture reviews and design workshops.
- Champion AI-native thinking by promoting principles such as Eliminate before Automate and Anticipate before Build, while mentoring colleagues and helping raise technical capability across the organisation.
What We're Looking For
- BSc in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related (MSc in Architecture/AI/Systems Design is considered a plus)
- TOGAF or an equivalent enterprise architecture certification. Familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies is desirable. AIGP certification is encouraged.
- Strong familiarity with:
- Python
- REST APIs and webhooks
- Jira, Confluence, and Miro
- AI platforms such as Claude Enterprise, Gemini, Vertex AI, and OpenAI
- Agentic frameworks such as LangChain, Make, and n8n
- RPA and workflow automation platforms
- GitLab or GitHub
- Docker fundamentals
How You'll Operate
You will operate with a high degree of autonomy, making architectural decisions within agreed roadmaps and engineering standards, while having the authority to depart from established patterns when justified by a strong technical case.
Novel situations will be the norm. As the organisation transitions towards agentic AI, success will depend less on precedent and more on first-principles thinking, sound technical judgement, and pragmatic decision-making.
