Fully reusable launch vehicles are the key to seamlessly connecting Earth and space. Building a fully reusable launch system with a small team requires high levels of ownership and accountability. This is the key to Stoke’s success.

Whether you are a structures RE, turbopump RE, machinist, welder, test RE, integration technician, or Stage RE, you need to understand how your work fits into the larger company products and own the execution of the tasks assigned to them. This includes knowing where your ownership ends and where someone else’s starts, ensuring minimal overlap and no gaps.

As a Stage Integration RE at Stoke, you are responsible for the technical and programmatic execution for all pre-ship integration and test operations of the stage. You will be expected to fully understand and own the stage’s integration from design through end of life and will work with all subsystems to ensure the stage is fully functional. There are no fences and accountability ultimately lies with the RE who owns the technical scope and programmatic execution at each level of the product.

Responsibilities

• Deliver stages that are factory-acceptance-tested and ready for integrated test to the Stage Test RE in Moses Lake and support future operations as required.
• Own the engineering definition of all multi-subsystem integrated assemblies.
• This includes the product structure, drawings, and work instructions that cross multiple subsystems from an integrated forward module to the full vehicle.
• This explicitly includes coordination of multiple teams to produce an integrated product and requires multidisciplinary understanding of rockets.
• Own, track, and communicate any deltas to the nominal definition, design, and configuration for specific serial numbers of the stage in coordination with other engineering leaders at Stoke.
• Own the stage integration & factory acceptance. This includes technical integration, schedule, and CONOPs.
• You will work with a variety of teams to make this happen, but the successful integration and initial checkout of the stage is your responsibility.
• Work with the manufacturing team to ensure that we have the necessary infrastructure to accomplish the stage build and factory acceptance test goals.
• Work with the test team to ensure clean hand-offs from the factory acceptance checkouts to the integrated testing.
• Drive continuous improvement of design, manufacturing, and checkouts of rocket stages.
• Support the Stage Lead in other ancillary tasks related to integrated system design and build.
• Work on-site at Kent Headquarters (WA) but be able to travel to both Moses Lake Test Site (WA) and the Cape Canaveral Launch Site (FL) to support operations on either side of your interface as needed.

Qualifications

• 5 years hands-on experience with complex integrated systems or products
• 2 years managing or leading teams preferred
• Exceptional command of engineering fundamentals
• Demonstrated experience working on multiple development projects through the full lifecycle, from concept through sustained operations, on an aerospace or similar high-performance product
• Demonstrated experience leading teams on complex, multi-disciplinary projects
• Proficiency with automation & control logic
• Working knowledge of product structures, PLM, and aerospace manufacturing techniques preferred
• Ability to determine appropriate level of work for a problem (from hand calcs to multi-physics simulations) and execute the work accordingly
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, or fluid systems at a hardware level

Compensation

Target Levels:

• Level 3 Range: $129,150 - $193,620
• Level 4 Range: $151,305 - $252,105
• Level 5 Range: $176,505 - $327,810

Who We Want:

The Quality Engineer is responsible for conducting on going analysis of the production process inputs and output to ensure that customer (internal and external) quality requirements are being achieved

What You'll Do:

• “Safe Launch” participant to constructively accept a detailed hand-off of product requirements from APQP QE.
• The “Safe Launch” hand-off process links the APQP QE and Current Production QE when the first MRD parts are being run. These QEs work together to obtain and complete the necessary quality system documentation, dimensional data, GP-12 support, and PTR/MRD packaging and labeling for shipment.
• Supporting the “Safe Launch” process also includes providing the plant communication linkage for a formal tooling buy-off process, including Run at Rate support and associated documentation to declare die/welder readiness for production. This is then followed by the preparation of all PPAP documentation for submission.
• Responsible for all plant level quality concerns for assigned product.
• Serve as direct point of contact for customer complaints.
• Manage Quality System for all changes after launch.
• Obtain “Master Samples” from 300-piece initial production run for Program archiving of Part Quality at start of production.
• Update Control Plans & FMEA as Issues Arise from the Floor or Customer.
• Issue Product Quality Check Deviations following direction from management.
• Provide timely acknowledgement responses to customer complaints.
• Provide formal documentation PRR/HTR, responses to the customer.
• Be a presence at the assembly plants to provide face-to-face interaction and ensure customer satisfaction while developing relationships.
• Understand how each part is utilized in the vehicle build and become the “expert” regarding what the customer expects from us as the supplier of this part.
• Provide the plant management with the “voice of the customer” and explain what key part attributes are important to manage on each part and why.
• Train plant level quality auditors and production team leaders on part-to-part concerns regarding acceptability, inspection methodology, and customer expectations.
• Direct Quality Technicians to provide supporting product quality documentation (Part Picture Visuals, Packaging Instructions, Gage Instructions, Quality Alerts, etc.), and floor support as necessary.
• Provide plant with priorities for part improvement to ensure the most important attributes are addressed first, and stress continuous improvement.
• Address plant floor quality concerns as they arise, provide timely opinions for acceptability, and be able to provide the proper decision criteria for management to direct the part disposition.
• Champion problem control meetings for customer complaints, and attendees need to be accountable for their problem control responsibilities by area managers.
• The QE should be involved in monitoring daily part quality and spend time on the floor checking parts and auditing product and process to verify that customer requirements are met.
• Participate in the layered process audits.
• Implement new methods of inspection and control when required. (i.e.: enhanced containment techniques and documentation, SPC data, scheduled CMM runs or Roamer scans, etc.)
• The QE is responsible for supporting all QSB+ and TS requirements associated with his/her assigned part responsibilities.

When and Where:

This will be a 1st shift position located at our Plant in Holland, MI. 
Occasionally, this may require you to arrive early, stay late, or work on weekends, outside of our regular hours, to ensure we successfully meet customer needs, deadlines, or urgent requests.
