• Java driver, Java Reactive Streams Driver, Scala Driver, Kotlin Driver, Spark Connector, and other JVM-based projects
• Integrations with other open-source software, such as ORM frameworks and AI tools
• Testing, delivering and supporting the above across multiple operating systems, JDKs, and MongoDB releases

You'll have responsibilities beyond writing code, including

• Working with our Product, Server, Cloud, and other driver teams on designs and specifications for new customer-facing MongoDB features

We're seeking a Senior Data Scientist to serve as an embedded Data Scientist within our Programmatic Experience Group. You'll own the design and deployment of machine learning models that optimize yield, pricing, and inventory allocation at scale — sitting at the intersection of data science, platform engineering, and marketplace economics.

This is a high-craft, high-ownership individual contributor role. You'll work end-to-end: architecting the data pipelines that feed your models, engineering the features that drive performance, and deploying real-time inference systems that make decisions at speed. What You'll Do:

Yield Optimization & Pricing Models

• Design and deploy ML models that optimize auction pricing, bid shading, floor price setting, and yield across Impact's programmatic inventory.

What You Bring:

Required

• Experience: 5+ years in data science, ML engineering, or quantitative research, with at least 2+ years building and deploying ML models in programmatic advertising, ad tech, marketplace optimization, or a closely related domain (e.g., real-time bidding, dynamic pricing, auction systems).
• Programmatic & marketplace depth: Demonstrated understanding of programmatic auction mechanics (RTB, header bidding, floor pricing, deal types, bid shading) and how ML can be applied to optimize outcomes across the supply-demand stack.

We are the “AI/BI” team responsible for making Databricks the best product for business users to create, find and consume data insights. We work on 4 key pillars Dashboards, Genie, Databricks One and Unity Catalog Business semantics. UC Business semantics allow users to define business metrics and agent metadata in centrally governed systems for trusted access. Databricks One offers users a simplified experience tailored for non technical users to find and consume data insights. Genie lets users talk to their data with state of the art text-to-SQL and Dashboards lets users run their day to day business.

We're seeking a dedicated Engineering Leader who will help grow the Data visualization and UC Business Semantics teams.These teams will be tackling a number of challenging fullstack problem spaces, including: making visualizations easy to consume, enabling dashboards to be highly interactive, creating compelling augmented analytics experiences, providing best in class low/no code authoring, and increasing the analytical expressivity of our business semantics products.

You will report directly to the Senior Manager of Engineering.

The main responsibilities include:

• You will lead a talented engineering team of full stack engineers and SMEs focused on one of the above initiatives.
• You will oversee sustained recruitment of top-tier talent, and developing talent on the team.
• You will build processes to implement product vision and strategy, according to organizational goals and priorities.
• You will build software that is not just high quality, but easy to operate.
• You will manage technical debt, including long-term technical architecture decisions, and balance product roadmap.

What we look for:

• 2+ years of experience in managing teams that build and operate systems in a SaaS environment
• 5+ years of experience with distributed systems and building platforms and services and best in class application experience which serve multiple product teams and customers

Vancouver will be the newest R&D center for Databricks, expanding our presence in the Pacific Northwest. We are actively hiring world-class engineers to join us on our mission to democratize data + AI.  

We envision the Vancouver site becoming a key driver of product innovation at Databricks. To start, we’re bringing a few strategic areas to the Vancouver site and we have several open roles across the teams below, including:

• Log Analytics - Our customers increasingly use Databricks to analyze petabyte-scale logs in real time. This creates new challenges across the entire data processing pipeline, including ingestion, indexing, processing, and the user experience itself.
• AI/BI - AI/BI is redefining Business Intelligence for the AI age. We launched this product last summer and have already seen tremendous adoption (98.7% of our data warehousing customers are already using AI/BI!). From rich dashboarding and advanced visualizations to powerful talk-to-your-data solutions, the products we are building involve exciting technical challenges across the entire stack. 
• Unity Catalog Business Semantics - Context is everything for AI. For enterprise data, that context needs to be governed and managed, which is what Unity Catalog Business Semantics offers. We recently launched our first Semantics modelling capability, Unity Catalog Metrics, this past Data + AI Summit but we have a lot more in store. Engineers on this team work at the intersection of large scale distributed systems, data modeling, governance, and AI enablement.
• Databricks Apps - Databricks Apps is one of the fastest growing products at Databricks, used by more than 2,500 customers who have created more than 20,000 apps — and it was only GA’ed this past June. The Apps team is one of the few teams that are exposed to low-level platform components (k8s, networking), owns fundamental tech (apps runtime and proxy), and is heavily investing in app builder AI agents.

What we look for:

• BS (or higher) in Computer Science, related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• Comfortable working towards a multi-year vision with incremental deliverables.
• Motivated by delivering customer value and impact.
• 10+ years of production level experience in either Java, Scala or C++.
• Strong foundation in algorithms and data structures and their real-world use cases.
• Experience developing large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience working on a SaaS platform or with Service-Oriented Architectures.
• Experience with cloud technologies, e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, or Kubernetes.
• Experience with security and systems that handle sensitive data.
• Good knowledge of SQL.

About the Team:

The Backline Engineering Team serves as the critical bridge between Frontline Support and Engineering. We handle complex technical issues and escalations across the Data and AI ecosystem. With a strong focus on customer success, we are committed to delivering exceptional customer satisfaction by providing deep technical expertise, proactive issue resolution, and continuous platform improvements. We emphasise automation and tooling to enhance troubleshooting efficiency, reduce manual efforts, and improve the overall supportability of the platform and the health of our products. By developing smart solutions and streamlining workflows, we drive operational excellence and ensure a delightful experience for both customers and internal teams.

What your impact will be:

• Deep Dive Troubleshooting: Conduct deep-dive forensics into Spark core internals and the broader Databricks Data and AI ecosystem to resolve high-priority architectural failures and complex system anomalies.
• Root Cause Analysis: Perform advanced code-level analysis and resource profiling to identify and mitigate systemic root causes, ensuring the stability and reliability of high-scale production workloads.
• Architectural Optimization: Optimise architectural performance across the Data and AI stack by refining execution parameters and enforcing best practice strategies to maximise resource efficiency and throughput.
• Product Improvements: Analyse global issue trends and patterns to partner directly with Product Engineering, influencing the product roadmap and driving initiatives that enhance long-term supportability.
  Scalability & Tooling: Develop reproduction frameworks, automated workflows, and AI-driven diagnostic tools that translate complex backline findings into standardised resolution paths to empower and scale the broader organisation.

What we look for:

We are looking for customer-obsessed candidates with 10+ years of relevant experience, including deep expertise in one of the following three specialized tracks, along with proven experience in managing both customers and technical stakeholders. Since each track calls for a different set of technical capabilities, we’re looking for excellence in one area rather than proficiency in all: 

• Data Engineering Track: Expertise in large-scale big data solutions and ETL pipelines using Spark, Delta Lake, or Hive. Strong experience troubleshooting failures, diagnosing performance issues, and identifying root causes. Demonstrated problem-solving ability and understanding of data engineering best practices to ensure reliable, efficient workflows. Solid hands-on programming skills in Python, SQL, or Scala.
• Product Supportability Track: Deep understanding of distributed system internals. Ability to perform code-level root-cause analysis and profiling (using metrics and heap/thread dumps) in Java, Scala, or Python. Proven record of contributing to bug fixes and mentoring other engineers.
• AI Track: Experience with large-scale machine learning and generative AI systems, including LLM-based applications and agent-driven workflows. Strong grasp of model training, evaluation, and deployment in distributed environments. Experience managing the ML lifecycle, including governance and operationalisation. Skilled in diagnosing and optimising distributed ML workloads for performance and scalability.

In this role, you'll be the face of our robotics initiatives on your campus. Your mission is to engage with fellow students and guide them through short, fun data collection sessions using an iPhone. You aren't just collecting data—you're helping train the computer vision models that will power the future.

What You'll Do

• Engage & Recruit: Approach students on campus (quads, student unions, study areas) and invite them to participate in a paid/incentivized data recording session.
• Capture Data: Guide students through recording high-quality video and sensor data of participants performing specific movements or interacting with objects using our app.
• Quality Control: Ensure lighting, framing, and movement instructions are followed strictly to ensure data is usable for machine learning.
• Educate: Briefly explain the purpose of the technology to participants, creating excitement about the project.
• Manage Goals: Meet weekly targets for the number of unique participants recorded.
