Project Description

The Data Operations Team's primary responsibility is to build, support and maintain the data pipelines database infrastructure and maintain efficient data stores. They work on improving reliability, scalability and efficiency of databases, data pipelines and data stores by engineering solutions that hosts the large amount of data the team uses as well as monitor, alert and auto-remediate issues that rises.

What You'll Do

• Perform database and system patching;
• Ensure regular system maintenance and operational stability;
• Install and configure new machines;
• Maintain and support database clusters, ensuring high availability and performance;

Job Requirements

• Strong expertise in Oracle RAC;
• 5+ years of experience in Oracle RAC and MySQL database administration;
• Solid experience with RAC/Data Guard maintenance, database installation and upgrades, backup and recovery, performance tuning, and security management;
• Hands-on experience with Linux systems;
• Good understanding of system administration principles;
• Experience with other databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL);
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Shell, Python, or Ruby;
• Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders;

The DBA team manages database availability, security, and performance, ensuring data integrity and efficient access. They handle backups and user permissions while providing proactive support.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and maintain database systems, ensuring high availability and reliability tailored to each end user’s role 
• Implement databases aligned with specific user information needs and operational requirements 
• Define user permissions and facilitate precise data distribution, ensuring timely and accurate access 
• Leverage high-speed transaction recovery techniques and establish regular data backups to ensure data integrity 
• Minimize database downtime, tuning parameters to maximize query performance and responsiveness 
• Provide both proactive and reactive data management support to ensure uninterrupted operations 
• Develop, enforce, and document comprehensive database policies, procedures, and standards 
• Conduct regular tests and evaluations to safeguard data security, privacy, and integrity 
• Monitor database performance, apply updates, and implement patches to maintain optimal operation 

REQUIREMENTS

• Experience: Proven background in database administration, IT, database architecture, or a related field 
• Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with database standards and end-user applications 
• Data Integrity & Security: Strong knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, and integrity protocols for SQL or NoSQL engines 
• System Proficiency: Experience with GNU/Linux server environments 
• Database Design: Familiarity with database design principles and documentation practices 
• Programming Knowledge: Basic familiarity with programming languages 
• Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills with a capacity to approach challenges algorithmically 
• Education: BS degree in a computer discipline or a relevant certification

• Expertise with MySQL and PostgreSQL
• Familiarity with cloud technologies like GCP and AWS
