Proton was founded in 2014 by scientists from CERN on a simple truth: privacy is a fundamental human right. Since then, we've built the world's largest encrypted email service (Proton Mail) and expanded into Proton VPN, Proton Drive, Proton Pass, and Proton Calendar — tools used by millions globally to protect their freedom, fight censorship, and keep their data safe. In some situations, Proton has literally helped save lives.
We are profitable, independent (no VC control), and selectively hire from the top ~1% of applicants. Our 700+ team members across 50+ countries come from leading organizations and elite academic backgrounds. We move fast, keep hierarchy light, and prioritize impact over optics. If you want to do meaningful work with exceptionally high-caliber people, this is it. Check our open-source projects here.
The Role
As VP Design, you will own and lead the design function across both Product Design (user experience, interface, service design) and Brand / Marketing Design (visual identity, campaign creative, brand experience). You’ll partner closely with the CEO, VP Marketing and Heads of Product, helping shape strategy, drive design excellence, and ensure that design becomes a core differentiator for Proton. You will build, mentor and scale a high-performing, multi-disciplinary design organisation, embedding design thinking across the company.
What you will do
• Define and execute the strategic vision for design at Proton, bridging product and brand to deliver a unified and differentiated experience globally.
• Lead, develop and grow a world-class design organisation: recruiting designers and researchers structuring teams across product and brand, setting performance metrics, fostering a culture of creativity, craft and user-centricity.
• Partner with the CEO, VP Marketing and Heads of Product to ensure design is embedded into strategic roadmaps, product launches, marketing campaigns and brand initiatives.
• Oversee the end-to-end design process for all major product lines and brand campaigns: user research, UX/UI, service design, prototyping, testing, visual design, motion, interactive experiences.
• Ensure that the Proton brand identity is strong, consistent, scalable and flexible across all touchpoints: digital, mobile, web, marketing, physical, events.
• Drive design systems, tools and processes across product & brand to deliver efficiency, quality, consistency and scale.
• Advocate for users and privacy-first design principles in everything we build and brand.
• Monitor and measure design impact: user experience metrics, brand perception, conversion, retention, campaign effectiveness; iterate and optimise accordingly.
• Represent design externally: speak on design at conferences, build Proton’s design reputation, collaborate with creative agencies and partners worldwide.
What We’re Looking For
• A minimum of 15 + years of experience in design leadership roles (product, brand and/or marketing) at a global technology company or agency.
• Proven track record of building, scaling and operating design organisations with cross-functional reach.
• Strong experience overseeing both product (UX/UI, service design) and brand/marketing design (visual identity, campaign creative) — not one or the other only.
• Demonstrated ability to define and execute design strategy that drives business impact (growth, engagement, retention, brand equity).
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work at executive level and influence across product, marketing, engineering and operations.
• Deep user-centred design mindset; strong portfolio showing end-to-end work (research → strategy → UX → UI → brand visuals).
• Skilled in designing for global audiences, with sensitivity to cultural differences and brand consistency across markets.
• Expertise in building and scaling design systems, establishing best practices and operational processes in fast-growing environments.
• Excellent leadership and people development skills: mentoring senior designers, creating high-performing teams, promoting a culture of craftsmanship and innovation.
• Comfortable working in a dynamic, high-growth company with a mission-driven ethos and a global, diverse team.
• Strong communicator with polished presentation and storytelling skills; fluent in English (other languages a plus).
At Proton, we believe diversity drives innovation and strengthens our mission to provide privacy as a default for all. We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where all individuals — regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, physical ability, or socio-economic background — feel valued and empowered.
If you need any extra support or reasonable adjustments during the hiring process, please let your talent partner know.

At Inceptive, you will drive forward development that could help billions of people. To accomplish this, you will be part of a collaborative, antedisciplinary team building our biological software.
The design space of biomolecules is unimaginably vast — far beyond what can be explored experimentally. Yet within this space lie molecules with properties essential for new medicines. Our machine learning models learn to design therapeutic biomolecules with specific, desirable functions.
We advance the state of the art in molecular design by training large-scale foundation models and developing cutting edge generative approaches. The models learn from diverse heterogeneous datasets and are refined through focused fine-tuning and feedback from experiments. Key to progress is a team that combines exceptional machine learning expertise with thorough domain understanding.
You will collaborate closely with other machine learning researchers and engineers, as well as computational and experimental biologists, to advance these models and translate their capabilities into real therapeutic designs.
Compensation
$200K – $275K + Bonus + Equity
What we offer
*Varies by country and does not apply to internships
At Inceptive, we are creating tools to develop increasingly powerful biological software for the rational design of novel, broadly accessible medicines and biotechnologies previously out of reach. Our team brings together vast expertise in molecular biology, machine learning, and software engineering, and we are all working towards becoming antedisciplinary, meaning we deepen the knowledge we have in our area of expertise while also expanding our knowledge of completely new fields.
We approach our goals with a Beginner's mind, humbly and with fresh eyes, and aim to become the pioneers of a new discipline rooted in biology as much as in deep learning, whose impact will be realized together with out-of-the-box thinkers in business and entrepreneurship, defying established categorizations. We are building a company culture centered around growth, learning, and discovery. We believe in humility and open-mindedness in how we approach each other, as well as problems we don't yet have solutions for.
It is the policy of Inceptive to ensure equal employment opportunity without discrimination or harassment on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, marital status, citizenship, national origin, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by law. Inceptive prohibits any such discrimination or harassment.
Inceptive is also committed to welcoming and providing accommodations to people with disabilities. Please let us know if you need any accommodations throughout your application process.

Are you a master of healthcare fluent in French eager to shape the future of AI? Large‑scale language models are evolving from clever chatbots into powerful engines of clinical support, patient education, and medical research. With high‑quality training data, tomorrow’s AI can improve healthcare access, assist professionals across borders, and enhance patient outcomes. That training data begins with you—we need your expertise to help power the next generation of AI.
We’re looking for healthcare specialists who live and breathe clinical workflows, patient care, diagnostics, public health, health systems management, and evidence-based practice—especially with knowledge of healthcare delivery in French-speaking regions. You’ll challenge advanced language models on topics like disease prevention, treatment protocols, health equity, healthcare ethics, patient communication, and clinical documentation—documenting every failure mode so we can harden model reasoning.
On a typical day, you will converse with the model in both English and French on real-world healthcare scenarios and theoretical questions, verify clinical accuracy and logical coherence, capture reproducible error traces, and suggest improvements to our prompt engineering and evaluation metrics.
A master’s degree in nursing, public health, medicine, healthcare administration, or a closely related field is ideal; fluency in French, clinical or administrative experience, and familiarity with patient care standards and healthcare systems signal fit. Clear, metacognitive communication—“showing your work”—is essential.
Ready to turn your healthcare expertise and French fluency into the knowledge base for tomorrow’s AI? Apply today and start teaching the model that will teach the world.
We offer a pay range of $8-to- $65 per hour, with the exact rate determined after evaluating your experience, expertise, and geographic location. Final offer amounts may vary from the pay range listed above. As a contractor you’ll supply a secure computer and high‑speed internet; company‑sponsored benefits such as health insurance and PTO do not apply.
