Within Verisign, our Data Engineering Team is responsible for designing, building and maintaining large-scale, high-throughput (millions requests per second) data products and services delivering actionable operational and business intelligence. To help us advance our products, we are looking for a skilled Mid-Level Data Engineer.

An ideal candidate should deeply care about all steps of data lifecycle (ingestion, enhancement, storage, processing, visualization), be fluent in a JVM-based language, and be eager to learn as needed. They should have an understanding of fundamentals including core Computer Science concepts accompanied by hands-on problem-solving experience ideally involving large-scale distributed systems. Obtaining these competencies often requires an equivalent of a bachelor’s degree and 5 years of practical work experience. We are also open to other career paths.

The candidate will be involved in all aspects of data engineering, including ideation, design, implementation, deployment, customer onboarding, and support. This will often imply regular cross-team collaboration with Verisign Data Platform, Business, Infrastructure, Engineering, Security, and Operations. We expect the candidate to take full ownership of the data products, regularly interacting with the internal customers, proactively identifying, prioritizing, and delivering on their common data needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, build and optimize real-time and batch data processing pipelines.
• Develop and maintain data processing components that implement transformation, normalization, and enrichment logic.
• Build and maintain interactive dashboards and visualizations for internal stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain containerized workloads deployed in Kubernetes environments using CI/CD automation.
• Ensure system and data pipelines reliability through monitoring, observability, and alerting practices.
• Troubleshoot complex issues in distributed data systems and resolve performance bottlenecks.
• Support internal customers using data products and analytical platforms.
• Contribute to continuous improvement by applying data engineering best practices, particularly in hybrid cloud environments.

Required Skills

• Strong programming fundamentals with experience in object-oriented or functional programming languages
• Experience working with data lake and analytical technologies (e.g., Iceberg, Druid, Hive, Object Storage).
• Familiarity with streaming data platforms such as Apache Kafka.
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Jenkins).
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.

Preferred Skills

• Proficiency in Java or other JVM-based programming languages (e.g., Scala).

We're looking to hire for our Data side of our AI team at Speechify. This role is responsible for all aspects of data collection to support our model training operations. We are able to build high-quality datasets at petabyte-scale and low cost through a tight integration of infrastructure, engineering, and research work. We are looking for a skilled Software Engineer to join us.

What You’ll Do

• Be scrappy to find new sources of audio data and bring it into our ingestion pipeline
• Operate and extend the cloud infrastructure for our ingestion pipeline, currently running on GCP and managed with Terraform.
• Collaborate closely with our Scientists to shift the cost/throughput/quality frontier, delivering richer data at bigger scale and lower cost to power our next-generation models.
• Collaborate with others on the AI Team and Speechify Leadership to craft the AI Team’s dataset roadmap to power Speechify’s next-generation consumer and enterprise products.

An Ideal Candidate Should Have

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of industry experience in software development.
• Proficiency with bash/Python scripting in Linux environments
• Proficiency in Docker and Infrastructure-as-Code concepts and professional experience with at least one major Cloud Provider (we use GCP)
• Experience with web crawlers, large-scale data processing workflows is a plus

THE WORK

We are seeking a new Staff Software Engineer to join the Platform Engineering team of our Custody department. You'll play a key role in shaping our engineering practices, ensuring the reliability and performance of our platform across a multi-cloud environment, and empowering our engineering team to deliver innovative features with speed and efficiency. You will drive improvements in our automation, observability, and overall platform stability.

About the Role

As a hands-on Engineering Manager of our agent and developer platform at Ledgy, you'll lead the team that makes everything else possible, the infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, developer and agent tooling, security posture, and platform capabilities that thousands of employees worldwide depend on to experience equity ownership. You'll lead a team of 4–6 engineers building the foundation for Ledgy's next chapter: a platform where AI agents operate as first-class citizens alongside human engineers.

• Get hands-on with our CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure, and deployment processes - identify the biggest friction points
• Understand how AI agents are already being used in our engineering workflows (Cursor, Claude Code, automated PRs) and where the gaps are
• Join the engineering leadership team and understand how we translate product vision into technical reality
• Meet with our CISO and understand Ledgy's current security posture, compliance requirements, and where the biggest gaps are

First 3 Months

• Own and drive improvements to pipeline reliability and speed - set measurable SLOs for build times, deployment frequency, and failure rates
• Define and begin executing a roadmap for making our platform agent-ready: what needs to change so that AI agents can contribute code safely and at scale?
• Have regular 1:1s with your reports and support them in their growth
• Shape platform strategy alongside the Head of Engineering and CTO
• Partner with the CISO to define a security roadmap that accounts for AI-specific risks - agent access controls, code provenance, data exposure through AI tooling - and begin executing on the highest-priority items

6–12 Months

• Be recognised as the technical leader who defines how Ledgy's platform scales - for both humans and agents
• Have delivered measurable improvements to developer experience, deployment velocity, and infrastructure reliability
• Lead meaningful career development conversations and conduct performance reviews
• Own engineering initiatives that influence how the entire organisation ships software
• Be a trusted partner to product and engineering leadership on technical direction

The Interview Process

2. Live Coding (60 min): A problem-solving session using your preferred language and IDE

As a Python Software Engineer, you will work closely with our trading and engineering teams on a variety of applications, tools and automation projects. You’ll be placed in an environment consisting primarily of a large Python analysis ecosystem drawing data from various sources including our own trading systems. You’ll build analysis & visualisation tools at the heart of the business logic, in close collaboration with the traders who use them. Your work involves both interpreting ideas, coming up with your own, and efficiently implementing these into tools that are reliable, scalable and performant.

Together with traders, researchers and engineers, you deliver challenging projects, while taking ownership for end-to-end product development – from requirements gathering to production. You’ll write reliable and scalable software while balancing time to production with quality and testability. Advanced automated testing and daily deployments will allow you to achieve agile and incremental benefits. Within a complex landscape of varying systems and technologies, you’ll be constantly challenged to consider trade-offs between throughput, simplicity, scalability and maintainability.

Your Core Responsibilities: 

• Collaborate closely with researchers, and engineers to deliver challenging projects.
• Build, maintain, and enhance research frameworks and data pipelines that enable trading and quantitative research.
• Curate, transform, and present data in clear, accessible formats for traders and researchers.
• Take ownership of end-to-end product development, from requirements gathering to production deployment
• Navigate a complex landscape of diverse systems and technologies, making informed trade-offs between throughput, simplicity, scalability, and maintainability

Your Skills and Experience:

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Computer Science, Econometrics, or a related discipline.
• 2–3 years of professional Python development experience
• solid computer science knowledge, has experience or capability to quickly adapt to additional languages such as Java, Scala, C++, Go, etc.
• Hands-on experience with statistical analysis, numerical programming, data engineering, or machine learning in Python (Polars, Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, TensorFlow).
• Proven ability to handle large datasets, architect and optimize data pipelines, and present data effectively.
• Experience with orchestration and containerization tools like Kubernetes and Docker is a plus.
• Solid grounding in calculus, probability, statistics, and optimization; familiarity with machine-learning techniques is beneficial.
