Astera Labs is seeking a Principal Product Applications Engineer to join our Taurus Ethernet Smart Cable Modules team and drive customer success at the forefront of AI infrastructure connectivity. As data centers scale to meet explosive AI workload demands, our Taurus products are enabling the high-bandwidth, low-latency Ethernet fabric connections that power next-generation GPU clusters and disaggregated computing architectures.

In this role, you'll be the technical expert customers rely on to successfully deploy Taurus Ethernet solutions in their most demanding environments. You'll work hands-on with hyperscalers, OEMs, and AI system builders to debug complex physical layer challenges, deliver technical enablement, and ensure seamless product integration. Your customer insights will directly influence how we evolve our products to meet the market's most pressing connectivity needs.

Key Responsibilities

· Customer Technical Engagement

o Serve as the primary technical resource for customers evaluating and deploying Taurus Ethernet Smart Cable Modules

o Deliver technical presentations, product training, and hands-on demonstrations to customer engineering teams

o Build trusted relationships with key accounts and drive successful product adoption

· System-Level Debug & Validation Support

o Lead root cause analysis and debugging of complex Ethernet physical layer and link issues in customer systems

o Support customer lab bring-up, characterization, and system validation activities

o Develop and execute test plans to reproduce and resolve customer-reported issues

· Technical Documentation & Enablement

o Create application notes, integration guides, and best practices documentation for Ethernet system implementation

Basic Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field

· 8+ years of experience in applications engineering, technical support, or system engineering roles

· Strong understanding of Ethernet physical layer specifications (100G/200G/400G/800G)

· Hands-on experience with lab equipment including oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, and BER test tools

· Experience debugging high-speed serial interfaces and signal integrity challenges

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to convey complex technical concepts

· Ability to travel within mainland China and Asia for customer debug

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience with optical modules, active cables, or similar high-speed connectivity components

· Familiarity with AI/ML system architectures, GPU clusters, or data center networking

· Background in signal integrity analysis and simulation

· Scripting proficiency (Python, TCL) for test automation and data analysis

Basic Qualifications

• Strong academic and technical background in electrical, electronics, or computer engineering or a closely related field. At a minimum, an engineering bachelor’s degree is required. A master’s degree is preferred.
• A minimum of 12 years’ experience working with cloud service providers or server or network OEM customers to design in complex SoC/silicon products for server, storage, and/or networking applications.

Required Experience

• Silicon/system bring-up and debug experience in customer systems.
• Strong knowledge of embedded FW development and in-system debug
• Firmware development with C-language, scripting with Python or other equivalent programming languages.

• Strong knowledge of PCIe protocol, including LTSSM, EQ, DMA, etc.
• Strong knowledge of NRZ/PAM4 SerDes level debugging (TX/RX Equalization) in PCIe, Ethernet (25G and above), etc.
• Firsthand experience with lab equipment including traffic generators, analyzers, and high-speed oscilloscopes.

• Broad knowledge of NRZ/PAM4 SerDes-based protocols such as PCIe or Ethernet (25G and above).
• Understanding of Data Center systems such as servers, compute nodes, JBOGs/JBODs, and networking switches/routers/interconnects, etc.
• Technical writing skills and the ability to generate clear, precise documentation including datasheets, application notes, and similar guides for both internal audiences and customers.

Preferred Experience

• Broad knowledge of signal processing and ECC coding for communications
• Device driver development
• Development/support for PCIe or Ethernet switch products
• Working with silicon characterization/validation teams to ensure desired device performance is readily achievable in customer systems.
• Knowledge of simulation/modeling, schematic capture, and PCB layout tools from Cadence, Altium and others.
• Knowledge of simulation tools such as Keysight ADS, SiSoft QCD, and others, for IBIS-AMI analysis.

· Comfort working with software/firmware associated with semiconductor products, such as: Firmware development with C-language, scripting with Python or other equivalent programming languages.

Preferred experience

· Triaging complex customer reported issues which require taking into account multiple layers of conditions. For instance, silicon, firmware, hardware board design, and system environment.

· Experience with common data center BMC implementation, and BIOS configuration

· PCIe compliance testing methodology and troubleshooting.

BMS BSW Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Responsible for BMS BSW development, testing and maintenance.
• Responsible for configuration and debugging of BMS AUTOSAR BSW.
• Responsible for the BMS bootloader and complex drivers' development.
• Responsible for BMS CAN Communication, network management and UDS diagnostic development.
• Responsible for BMS XCP and J1939 protocol development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or above, major in vehicle engineering, computer, electronic and electrical, automation, etc.
• Familiar with C language, with more than three years of experience in BSW development, familiar with NXP and Infineon chips.
• Familiar with AUTOSAR software architecture and related specifications, with AUTOSAR (Classic) software development experience, able to use the mainstream AUTOSAR tools for ASW, BSW, MCAL software development is preferred.
• Familiar with AUTOSAR basic software development and configuration.
• Familiar with the working mechanism of Bootloader, with relevant development experience is preferred.

Equipment Development Engineer

Responsibilities

• Import equipment according to the company's capacity planning requirements

• Responsible for technical input, technical confirmation, technical benchmarking, equipment manufacture, installation, commissioning, acceptance and delivery

• Responsible for tracking, coordinating and managing the project schedule of new equipment introduction; familiar with the principle and core requirements of lithium electric equipment is preferred

• Responsible for following up the construction and internal installation progress, and confirming whether the site construction meets the equipment installation requirements

• Collect and sort out related engineering data after new equipment is imported, and output related equipment management files

• Familiar with the development of lithium equipment industry and suppliers, and have relevant supplier resources and management experience

Qualifications

• At least 3 years relevant experience, bachelor degree or above

• Project experience in importing specific equipment, familiar with basic knowledge and principle of mechanical, electrical and other automation equipment of lithium electric equipment

• Familiar with project management process and methods, and preferred to engage in non-standard automation equipment development projects

• Proficient in CAD drawing and office software, familiar with equipment design and production

• Good teamwork skills, good communication skills, hard-working, strong sense of responsibility, working experience in lithium industry and excellent English is preferred

Equipment Electrical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the assembly and debugging of the company's non-standard automation equipment

• Skilled in using solidworks, proe and other 3D design software, capable of independently designing fixture required by automation equipment

• Analyzed the problems in assembly and debugging, and worked with suppliers to solve the problems

• Proficient in Mitsubishi, Delta etc., independently complete equipment program writing

• Evaluation of electrical outsourcing suppliers, and introduction and transformation of outsourcing technologies

• Prototype trial production, participated in field tests, dealt with electrical faults, and proposed product improvement measures

• Determine the final product or system, and prepare production documents, user manuals and other related documents

Qualifications

• College degree or above. Major in mechanical and electrical, automation or related field

• At least 3 years’ experience in non-standard automation design, assembly and debugging

• Familiar with non-standard automatic electric control wiring and able to debug

• Familiar with wiring debugging of electronic control equipment such as PLC, IPC, manipulator, motor and slide rail

• Calibrate and adjust the assembly schedule to meet the accuracy requirements

Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the analysis and evaluation of power battery cell selection, structural materials and product structure design scheme according to customer SOR

• Responsible for the schematic design of power battery PACK battery system and modules, detailed design of 3D digital model and 2D drawings

• Responsible for the safety and reliability design of power battery PACK battery system and module level

• Systematically analyzed the problems found in trial production, mass production and user feedback, and put forward improvement suggestions

• Responsible for sample sending and making, processing progress tracking, sample confirmation, etc.

• Responsible for testing and verification of Pack system and parts, design optimization according to regulations or customer requirements, and structural improvement for mass production

• Prepare design specifications and patents

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or above, major in electrochemistry, Vehicle engineering, Mechatronics, polymer materials, Electrical engineering, automation, etc

• More than 3 years of experience in power battery PACK structure design, experience in product G&D drawing, dimension chain analysis, ability to independently design pack battery system structure, independent structural strength simulation ability is preferred

• Experience in composite material structure design and structural airworthiness verification of aircraft is preferred

• Familiar with battery electrical related professional knowledge, battery selection and testing experience is preferred

• Familiar with the characteristics and application range of metal materials and plastic materials, proficient in injection molding process, sheet metal processing process, surface treatment, etc., skilled in Solidworks, CATIA, UG and other design software

• Able to read and write in English

Process Engineer

Responsibilities

• Responsible for process support, process verification and optimization and promotion of process problems in the design and development phase of PACK project

• Responsible for preparing product process documents (PFMEA, process flow chart, control plan, WI, etc.), proficient in PACK production process and key process control points

• Provided technical support for production, formulated standard operation instructions for each process, and solved technical problems in the production process

• In-depth technical exchanges on the production site, providing guidance for key parts and processes

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, major in mechatronics, electronics, electrical, process design

• At least 2 years working experience in PACK assembly or lithium battery industry

• Good at analyzing and solving problems, have good communication and coordination skills

• Familiar with IATF16949 quality management system

• Proficient in Office, AUTOCAD and other software

• Have a certain ability to work under pressure, have a strong sense of team spirit and cooperation

BMS BSW Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Responsible for BMS BSW development, testing and maintenance
• Responsible for configuration and debugging of BMS AUTOSAR BSW
• Responsible for the BMS bootloader and complex drivers development
• Responsible for BMS CAN Communication, network management and UDS diagnostic development
• Responsible for BMS XCP and J1939 protocol development

Qualifications

职责描述：

1. 与资深制造大模型算法工程师合作，开发基于多模态电池基础大模型的下游应用。
2. 参与开发和优化多个具体应用模型，包括电芯质量评估模型、生产过程优化模型、电芯设计优化模型、电芯性能预测模型以及电芯设计生成式模型。
3. 协助实施和优化数据处理管道，确保数据准确性和一致性，以支持下游应用开发。
4. 应用机器学习和深度学习技术进行模型训练、验证和优化。
5. 分析和处理复杂的数据集，提取关键特征以改进模型性能和应用效果。
6. 协助跨职能团队理解业务需求并制定相应的技术实现方案。

任职资格：

1. 计算机科学、电子工程、统计学或相关领域的硕士学位。

Responsibilities:

1. Cooperate with senior AI/ML engineers to develop downstream applications based on multi-mode battery basic large model.
2. Participate in the development and optimization of multiple specific application models, including cell quality assessment model, production process optimization model, cell design optimization model, cell performance prediction model and cell design generative model.
3. Assist in implementing and optimizing data processing pipelines to ensure data accuracy and consistency to support downstream application development.
4. Apply machine learning and deep learning technology for model training, verification and optimization.
5. Analyze and process complex data sets, extract key features to improve model performance and application effect.
6. Assist cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and develop corresponding technical implementation plans.
7. Continue to track the latest technological development and help introduce cutting-edge methods to improve the application effect of the model.

Qualifications:

1. Master's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, statistics or related field.
2. At least 3 years of practical working experience in machine learning or AI field, manufacturing or battery production experience is preferred.
3. Familiar with machine learning and deep learning algorithms, multi-modal data processing and application development experience is preferred.
4. Proficient in Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch and other commonly used machine learning frameworks and tools.
5. Have the ability to process tabular data, time series data and image data, and can apply these data to specific model development.
6. Good communication skills and team spirit, able to effectively work with cross-functional teams.
