About the Role
As a Staff IT Engineer - Service Management, you will own and evolve Nubank’s IT Service Management (ITSM) practice end to end. You’ll design and implement processes, tools, and governance that keep our internal services reliable, auditable, and efficient, enabling engineering teams to focus on high-impact work while maintaining strong operational controls in a regulated environment.
You’ll Be Responsible For
- Continuing to build and own Nubank's ITSM practice, defining and implementing core ITIL v4 processes: incident, problem, change, service request, and knowledge management.
- Establishing a service catalog with clearly defined SLAs and OLAs aligned with internal stakeholder expectations.
- Owning the end-to-end ITSM toolchain (Jira Service Management or equivalent): configuration, workflow design, form logic, SLA rules, and integrations with adjacent systems.
- Identifying and closing automation gaps — routing, escalation, notifications, and reporting — partnering with engineering teams to reduce manual toil across operations.
- Defining and tracking operational KPIs (MTTR, SLA compliance, first-contact resolution, change success rate) and building regular reporting cadences for leadership and stakeholders.
- Establishing a Change Advisory Board (CAB) with structured documentation and approval workflows.
- Supporting audit and compliance requirements with structured evidence of IT operational controls, essential in a regulated financial environment.
- Driving ITSM adoption across the organization, creating runbooks, training materials, and documentation that embed service management culture at scale.
We Are Looking For a Person Who Has
Mandatory qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in IT service management, IT operations, or a related discipline.
- Deep ITIL v4 expertise; ITIL 4 Foundation or Managing Professional certification strongly preferred.
- Proven track record of building ITSM practices from scratch or significantly transforming an existing function.
- Hands-on experience owning and configuring ITSM tooling end-to-end (Jira Service Management, ServiceNow, or equivalent) — not just using it, but designing it.
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, engineering-led environment, with strong influence-without-authority skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication, including the ability to present to senior leadership.
Nice-to-have qualifications
- Experience in fintech, high-growth tech, or other regulated industries.
- Familiarity with adjacent frameworks: COBIT, ISO 20000, or SRE principles.
- Experience partnering with Security and/or Platform Engineering teams.
- Fluent English.

What you’ll do:
- Develop safety critical software components for Archer’s flight control system.
- Participate in planning, design, scheduling, prioritizing, and tracking the project.
- Work with system engineers to decompose item requirements into high level and low level software requirements in compliance with DO-178C.
- Work with a multi-disciplinary team to develop and integrate the complex hardware/software flight control system.
- Development of software plans, processes & guidelines
- Software requirements decomposition, analysis, definition, and traceability
- Software design and development, performance, risk, safety, operation and cost optimization trade studies, and lead / conduct design reviews
- Software analyses, requirements-based testing, and structural coverage analysis
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our processes to increase safety and efficiency
- Archer Brazil is based in Sao Paulo, but this role is remote friendly anywhere in Brazil
What you need:
- 5+ years of experience in a flight control software or a related field
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related degree
- Proficiency with C/C++
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink
- Fluency with widely used scripting languages like bash and Python
- Experience developing software complying with safety standards like DO-178C or ISO 26262 to high criticality levels (DAL-A/B)
- Understanding of communication standards and protocols (RS-422/485, CAN, ARINC-429, AFDX, Ethernet, TCP/IP, etc…)
- Familiarity with debuggers and lab instruments such oscilloscopes and bus analyzers
- Experience with Model Based Software development and certification (DO-331)

The Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) team enables Nubank to remain compliant with legal, regulatory, and internal requirements, while continuously identifying, classifying, and monitoring risks and providing strategic insights and performance evaluation to leadership.

About the role
You will be responsible for acting as a technical reference in security, certifications, and internal controls, serving as a bridge between engineering, risk, audit, and business stakeholders.
You will define strategies, support risk-based decision-making, and ensure that security and compliance requirements are effectively embedded into processes, systems, and products.
Key responsibilities
- Act as a senior technical and governance reference across security, certifications, risk, and internal controls, influencing strategy.
- Identify control gaps and improvement opportunities in technical procedures required for certification and recertification processes (e.g., ISO 27001, PCI-DSS).
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with business and technical leaders to orchestrate audits, assessments, and remediation plans in a risk-based and scalable way.
- Collaborate with technical teams to define action plans that ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Conduct assessments of internal controls, ensuring adherence to internal policies, legal requirements, and industry standards.
- Identify gaps and improvement opportunities in the internal controls landscape and lead control reviews, ensuring timely resolution of issues.

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, Security Information, Risk Management or related fields.

- Governing Data Models: Own the design and evolution of data models and semantic views that enforce security and privacy requirements by default.
- Operationalizing Metadata and Lineage: Lead initiatives to track data lineage and sensitivity metadata across critical sources, enabling scalable governance and observability.

We are looking for a person who has
- Data Engineering Expertise: Solid understanding of ETL/ELT fundamentals, data warehouses, and distributed systems such as BigQuery, Databricks, Kafka, or Redshift.
- Security Control Implementation: Strong working knowledge of encryption, masking, tokenization, classification, and fine-grained access control (RBAC/ABAC).
- Advanced Analytical Skills: High proficiency in SQL and experience designing analytical data models with a focus on performance, correctness, and sensitive data handling.
- Production-Grade Programming: Proficiency in writing maintainable and testable code in at least one language, such as Python, Scala, Clojure, or Go.
- Infrastructure and DevOps Knowledge: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and containerized environments like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Data Observability: Experience in surfacing actionable metrics and logs for security monitoring and incident investigation.

About the team:
This position is for a Senior Information Security Engineer (IC5) to join the BSec team within the ITSec organization, a team at the forefront of InfoSec innovation at Nubank.
BSec is Infosec's partner in the Business Units; our vision is to empower Nu's secure foundation, embedding security in business decisions and protecting our long-term goals.
As a Senior/Lead Security Engineer, you will:
- Assess security gaps within the organization, in different technologies and business contexts, enabling risk treatment and designing action plans as necessary;
- Assess and develop policies and procedures related to information security and risk management, specially for third-party;
- Support compliance with regulatory requirements related to security and privacy providing visibility and technical guidance;
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand the business requirements, and translate them into technical specifications;
- Work closely with the Risk teams to align on mitigation of identified risks;
- Define guidelines and best practices on business security matters that empower Nubankers to perform their work efficiently and securely;
- Work in a multidisciplinary and global team, interacting with teams mainly in Brazil, Mexico, Colombia and the US.
Mandatory skills:
- Proven experience in designing and implementing security controls;
- Familiarity with different domains and concepts of cyber and business security;
- Strong inclination towards data-driven decision-making;
- Experience with TPRM (third-party risk management);
- Analysis of existing business processes and identify potential risks related to information security;
- Experience with risk analysis techniques like risk identification, assessment and prioritization and qualitative and quantitative risk assessment techniques is needed;
Nice to have skills:
- Experience with large-scale distributed environments;
- Good understanding of cybersecurity principles, risk management frameworks (such as NIST Cybersecurity Framework, NIST SP 800-30, ISO 27001, ISO 27002, PCI-DSS, SOC 2 Type II);
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are important to effectively assess and communicate risks to internal and external stakeholders;
- Previous work experience in consulting or advisory roles is often preferred.
