About the Role
The ideal candidate will be naturally collaborative, articulate, extremely organized, have a solid technical understanding of Veeam products, and motivated by maximizing customer success and outcomes. Soft skills combined with technical skills are key in this role. You will partner with Customer Success Engineers (CSEs) and Account Executives (AEs) to drive customer outcomes across security-related products and use cases within the Veeam Data Platform (VDP). You’ll lead readiness checks, data modeling, and risk conversations with CISO/CIO stakeholders, while monitoring telemetry and maturity against the Veeam Data Resilience Maturity Model (DRMM) to optimize posture and identify expansion opportunities.
What You’ll Do
- Engage customers on security-related products, architectures, and risk topics across the Veeam Data Platform (VDP).
- Run readiness checks and lead data modeling to validate solution design and accelerate decisions.
- Monitor attack surfaces and vulnerabilities (including DRMM scoring), track telemetry or recurring inspection signals, report trends, and capture potential health checks.
- Validate designs to de-risk adoption and accelerate time to value.
- Identify and articulate expansion opportunities; review consumption trends and schedule checkpoint reviews (with or without AE coordination).
- Engage CISO/CIO stakeholders for risk, status, and opportunity discussions; synthesize inputs from account health and CSE-led QBRs.
- Support AEs on security- and AI-driven expansion motions; influence roadmap priorities with CSE counterparts.
- Operate as a pooled resource covering Enterprise and Commercial-Named accounts (generally $100K+ ARR), typically at a 1 Security Success Engineer to 6–8 CSE coverage ratio.
- Note: Not the primary owner for Onboarding motions nor directly responsible for Renewals
What You’ll Bring
- 5+ years of experience in engineering architecture for cybersecurity-related products (e.g., Security Engineer/Architect, Cloud Solution Architect, MLOps/ML Engineer).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field; advanced degree is a plus.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or equivalent).
- Expertise in data security and governance, including DSPM/DLP; familiarity with AI/ML architectures.
- Demonstrated ability to engage CISO/CIO stakeholders on risk, resilience, and modernization roadmaps.
- Hands-on experience with solution design, POCs, telemetry monitoring, and maturity modeling (DRMM familiarity is a plus).
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- VMCE certification (can be completed after joining)

About the Role

As a Customer Success Engineer, you are the primary technical owner driving long-term customer outcomes across the Veeam Data Platform. You’ll lead onboarding, adoption, and optimization; proactively identify churn risk, migrations, and upsell opportunities; and apply deep disaster recovery and resilience (DR&R) expertise to conduct recovery simulations, DRMM assessments, and quarterly resilience reporting for measurable customer value
What You’ll Do
- Configure customer accounts; customize backup policies and storage; facilitate onboarding; orient stakeholders; walk through admin portals; introduce support channels.
- Identify migration opportunities; analyze usage and environment; conduct success planning and strategy sessions; align business outcomes with product adoption.
- Conduct assessments; build protection plans; recommend software products and architectures across the Veeam Data Platform.
- Run recovery simulations; apply the Veeam Data Resilience Maturity Model (DRMM) to track and report resilience posture; deliver quarterly resilience reports.
- Monitor signals to detect churn risk early; define mitigation plans; partner on renewal strategy with actionable technical insights.
- Build business cases; define TCO; articulate value propositions for expansion; schedule checkpoint reviews with stakeholders.
- Engage CISO/CIO stakeholders with clear risk, status, and opportunity updates; support context for executive discussions and roadmap alignment.
- Collaborate on marketing-informed campaigns and plays to drive adoption and expansion.
- Operate with a long-term account assignment model tied to ARR and growth potential, typically covering 5–50 Enterprise and Commercial-Named accounts with $100K+ ARR.
- Own the technical success plan and adoption roadmap; influence pricing, commercial terms, and renewal terms in partnership with Sales and CS leadership
What You’ll Bring
- 5+ years in customer-facing engineering roles focused on data backup and recovery (e.g., Technical Consulting, Pre-Sales SE, Technical Account Manager); this is a mid-level role.
- Advanced level of English (Spanish / German / French nice to have)
- Hands-on expertise across operating systems, virtualization, storage, scripting/automation, cloud platforms, and DR&R best practices.
- Strong experience designing and executing protection plans, migrations, and recovery simulations; familiarity with Veeam platform capabilities is a plus.
- VMCE certification required (may be completed post-hire within an agreed timeframe).
- Preferred industry certifications: AWS Solutions Architect (Associate/Professional), Microsoft Azure Administrator or Solutions Architect Expert
- Proven ability to translate business outcomes into technical adoption roadmaps and measurable value.

ABOUT THIS ROLE
As a Forward Deployed Engineer (AI) at OPAQUE Systems, you are the technical bridge between our enterprise customers and OPAQUE's confidential AI platform. You will work directly with customer engineering teams — from initial architecture review through production deployment — helping them install and deploy OPAQUE in their environment, and build AI solutions (agents / agentic workflows, RAG pipelines, LLM integrations) that run on OPAQUE's confidential AI platform.
This is a hands-on technical role. You will write code, run POCs, architect solutions, and own the customer's path from "interested" to "getting value." You will also be a critical signal source for the product team — the patterns you see in the field shape what OPAQUE builds next.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop custom AI / agentic solutions tailored to customer needs
- Lead technical discovery and architecture scoping with enterprise customers — translate vague AI / agentic aspirations into concrete implementation plans.
- Design and build production-grade solutions for agentic workflows, RAG pipelines, and LLM integrations on OPAQUE's platform.
- Partner with customer engineering teams through production deployment — unblock integration issues, debug failures, and ensure the solution is maintainable.
- Run technical whiteboard sessions, architecture reviews, and POC demonstrations with CTO, CISO, and engineering leader audiences.
- Synthesize field observations into product feedback — use case patterns, integration friction, objections, and feature gaps.
- Build reusable artifacts: integration guides, POC templates, architectural reference designs, and objection playbooks.
- Stay ahead of the AI landscape — agentic frameworks, RAG techniques, LLM capabilities, enterprise AI tooling.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of software engineering experience working on production AI/ML systems
- Hands-on experience building agentic workflows: tool use, multi-agent orchestration, memory architecture, agent reliability patterns.
- Deep hands-on experience with RAG pipeline design: chunking strategies, embedding models, vector databases, retrieval quality evaluation, re-ranking.
- Strong Python skills; experience with AI frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, LangGraph, CrewAI, or similar).
- Experience integrating with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini) in enterprise production environments.
- Ability to work directly with enterprise customer teams — comfortable with executive-level technical conversations.
- Strong understanding of enterprise deployment constraints: IAM, data residency, network topology, compliance requirements (SOC 2, HIPAA, FedRAMP).
- Security-aware engineering mindset — understands trust boundaries, data flow, and why cryptographic attestation matters for regulated industries.
- Bonus: Experience with confidential computing, TEEs, or privacy-preserving AI.
