Job Overview
The Senior Fire & Life Safety Consultant, Qatar requires a highly motivated and experienced individual with strong analytical and creative thinking skills to manage diverse projects workload across ME. This will be a client-facing role and therefore a solid technical understanding along with excellent communication and organizational skills are a must. In this role, you will demonstrate experience and passion in Code Consulting, Performance Based Design, and Fire Protection System Design.
Responsibilities
- Manage projects and coordinate technical workload of diverse projects implementing a variety of Fire & Life Safety consulting projects across Qatar displaying expert experience in Fire and Life Safety Code consulting, Qatar Civil Defense Codes and Standards (including NFPA) and also the design of fire suppression & alarm systems, developing performance-based strategies in a project design environment.
- Conducting code consulting, fire safety drawing reviews and producing reports.
- Responsible for key Jensen Hughes projects in Qatar and across the Middle East region including Saudi Arabia for various Fire and Life safety projects including but not limited to performance-based design and sensitivity analysis for smoke control systems using FDS software in Stadia, high-rise atria, car parks, theme parks projects, and others.
- Travel occasionally mainly across project sites in Qatar and Saudi Arabia for meetings, workshops, and inspections
- Attending client project & design meetings, managing project expectations and completing the assigned tasks on schedule and within budget.
- Preparation and presentation of technical reports and analysis
- Lead and carry out design reviews, participating in various levels of meetings and presentations with Clients assisting in the development of effective business proposals and solutions
Qualifications and other Requirements
- Degree in Fire safety Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Electrical Engineering / equivalent.
- Relevant experience in Code consulting and developing performance-based strategies in a project design environment.
- 10 plus years of experience in Fire and Life Safety Consulting.
- Excellent report writing and interpersonal skills along with excellent communication skills including speaking and writing in Ability to present clear and technically sound fire engineering strategies, speak in public, negotiate, explain fire protection concepts, and enforce standards while strengthening relationships, occasionally under pressure.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team, enjoying professional challenges, wanting to be an integral part of the long-term growth of Jensen Hughes.
- Strong Project Management capabilities and understanding of Project Financial Management

Overview – Role
Jensen Hughes is seeking a Site based Fire Protection Engineer (6 months , may be extendible), specialized in the on-site inspection of Mechanical /Electrical systems for a complex Fire & Life Safety Project in the Riyadh region of Saudi Arabia.
This role has a limited tenure of 6 months requiring proficiency in site management covering all aspects of the Project’s Fire & Life safety requirements including but not limited to review of Contractors documentation, passive/active and ventilation fire protection systems -installation, commissioning, inspections & testing. In this role you will work in line with the client expectations and compliance requirements within the agreed project scope while coordinating with the Project Manager and the team members. Expertise related to FLS review of Contractors documentation, systems, calculations and reports would be the key requirements for the role.

Responsibilities
- Review Contractor’s Fire & Life Safety (FLS) packages based on (NFPA codes, SBC codes and GDCD requirements)
- Conduct a comprehensive technical review Contractor’s Fire & Life Safety (FLS) documentation including but not limited to FLS/fire protection Shop Drawings, Material Submittals, Method Statements for testing, inspections, commissioning and handover of all passive and active fire protection systems
- Conduct Building Code Analysis and Gap Analysis as required by Contractor’s submissions
- Assess Construction site potential fire safety hazards, occupational health and safety hazards for buildings and facilities under Construction Supervision
- Conduct frequent site inspections for all passive and active fire systems with data collection and reporting
- Conduct testing, commissioning and hand-over site inspections for all passive and active fire protection systems with data collection and reporting
- Conduct site survey for occupational health & safety hazards
- Review and approve Contractor’s emergency response procedures
- Review and approve Contractor’s Fire Risk Assessments and review emergency evacuation plans.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mechanical /Electrical Engineering preferred
- 4+ years of Middle East project experience covering design review, construction supervision, fire protection installations inspections, surveys, audits, testing/commissioning and approvals
- Proven experience in FLS calculations and reporting
- Preferably certified on all/either NFPA 13, 20, 72, 2001 codes by approved NFPA instructors
- Proven site experience related to Fire Protection, Suppression, Fire Alarm systems, Ventilation
- Proven experience in liaising with local Authority, Contractors, and Clients to obtain all required certificates for occupancy
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and able to undertake work independently
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills along with strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

- Knowledge in Vmware, Nutanix AHV, RedHat, and Microsoft virtualization technologies in large environments.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure and AWS; ability to discuss and position Cloud technologies.
