KGW in Portland, Oregon is looking for a highly skilled video editor to join our news team full-time. We are seeking a creative and efficient editor who can edit accurate and energized content for television, social media and mobile from newsroom-generated source material. Our ideal candidate is familiar with the latest editing software, tools and techniques and has a passion for the craft and upholds the highest standards in journalism.
Responsibilities:
· Creative storytelling of the highest journalistic standards, editing a variety of video elements including voice-overs, SOTS, packages, graphics and teases.
· Ability to operate non-linear edit systems, experience with Edius and Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, After Effects, Adobe Stock & Photoshop) a plus.
· Experience creating vertical video on common platforms a plus (YouTube shorts, Instagram reels)
· Must always have a professional demeanor and work well as a team player with newsroom team and staff in an open-plan workspace.
· Ability to multi-task, self-direct to meet newsroom workflow demands, handle editing assignments, understand a central media ingest process to capture feeds, FTP material, downloads of shared content, while constantly monitoring quality control, story scripts and producer notes.
Requirements:
· BA/BS in journalism, communications or related field, or commensurate experience
· 2-5 years of newsroom experience preferred
· Strong computer, organizational and communication skills in a fast-paced mobile environment.
· Travel: Rarely: less than 10%
· Work Environment: Office: normally performed in a typical interior/office environment
· Physical Demands Set: Light work: Involves sitting most of the time, walking, lifting, bending, standing, etc.

The Content Marketing Writer plays a key role in supporting the OHSU Foundation’s mission through a range of fundraising‑focused content, stories and collateral materials. In this role, you’ll develop messaging platforms and create content across a wide range of deliverables, including emails, newsletters, campaigns, impact reports, donor updates, event materials, and advertising or marketing copy.
You’ll collaborate closely with partners across the Foundation’s communications and development teams, as well as our partners at OHSU, to support key philanthropic initiatives and illustrate the impact of giving on OHSU’s missions.
DEVELOPING DONOR-FOCUSED COMMUNICATIONS
You’ll create thoughtful, donor‑centered communications that support fundraising priorities across the full donor journey, from solicitation through stewardship.
You’ll partner closely with Foundation communications, leadership and OHSU to develop materials that inspire giving, demonstrate impact and connect donors to the mission in meaningful ways.
You’ll develop cases for support, pitch decks and other donor materials that move fundraising strategies forward.
You’ll craft clear, compelling messages that communicate need, impact and a strong call to action.
You’ll help shape campaign messaging, including themes, taglines and narrative concepts, and write copy for fundraising campaigns and giving day efforts.
You’ll write impact‑driven content such as donor spotlights, patient stories and faculty profiles across web, email, social and development channels.
LEAD COPYWRITING
You’ll lead copywriting for donor‑focused email communications, partnering across teams to plan, write and optimize outreach.
You’ll own and drive the Foundation newsletter
You’ll ensure email communications are thoughtfully coordinated and aligned across audience segmentation, cadence and the overall user experience.
You’ll collaborate with web and cross‑functional teams to maintain brand consistency and cohesive messaging across email, landing pages and the donation experience.
You’ll use analytics and performance insights to continually improve subject lines, messaging and engagement.
PRIMARY WRITER FOR MAJOR EVENT COLLATERAL
You’ll write copy for major and special events, including speaker bios, program copy and landing pages or event listings.
You’ll develop scripts and talking points for key speakers, presenters and moderators, as needed.
You’ll create promotional content for event ads, social posts and owned channels.
You’ll support the development of event assets such as signage, programs, agendas and exhibit materials.
You’ll translate event objectives and themes into clear, engaging messaging.
You’re a strong writer and editor with a proven ability to create persuasive content for a variety of audiences and purposes.
You’re comfortable interviewing faculty as well as medical, scientific and research professionals, and you know how to translate complex health and science topics into clear, engaging language for a general audience.
You bring strong project management skills, with the ability to organize your time, set priorities and manage multiple tasks at once without things slipping through the cracks.
You have exceptional attention to detail and take pride in delivering high‑quality work, even when balancing competing deadlines.
You’re able to work independently, but you also thrive in collaborative environments and value partnership and shared problem‑solving.
You bring at least three years of professional experience in communications, journalism or a related field, with a strong foundation in writing, editing and storytelling.
You’re experienced with taking complex ideas and translating them into accessible, compelling content for a wide range of audiences.

Majority of work can be conducted hybrid
Salary is dependent on experience. Each salary band is broken into three "steps," which correspond with an employee’s experience/tenure, proficiency and performance in that specific role. New employees will typically start at step I of our pay band to allow for later growth, although more experienced candidates may be eligible to start at step II or III. The OHSU Foundation has a structured process for determining starting compensation, taking into account years of related experience, applicable skills, knowledge and abilities, market parity, and internal equity.
