12News (KPNX-TV, NBC) in Phoenix is looking for a highly skilled Photojournalist to join our news team. We are seeking highly skilled artistic photographers and editors who can create shareable and exciting content for television, social media, and mobile. We want journalists who can tell great stories on their own or with a team. Our ideal candidates are familiar with the latest photography, editing tools, and techniques. They create unique and exciting content on all platforms. They are proficient with live newsgathering tools and can speak live on-air or online when necessary.
Responsibilities:
In this role, you will:
• Use Eduis video editing software.
• Use photography tools to tell great stories.
• Produce original content on-air and on all digital platforms that evoke emotion and tell compelling stories.
• Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media (viewer pictures, webcam interviews, etc.) to enhance stories.
• Contact sources and develop news stories. Cover breaking, general, sports, feature, investigative, and political news stories. Produce news stories that are unique and captivating.
• Ability to shoot and edit multiple cameras interviews.
• Attend editorial meetings, participate in discussions, and suggest story ideas.
• Edit and post video and text content stories for the website.
• Develop news sources for general assignment and specialized areas of interest.
• Operate news gathering vehicles including live vans with masts from various locations.
• Perform other tasks as required.
• Workdays and times may vary to the needs of the business.
• Be placed on a rotation of on-call shifts.
Requirements:
Here’s what you need:
• BA/BS in journalism, communications, or related field
• Must have a valid driver license with a clean record.
• Must be able to drive different types of vehicles including but not limited to oversize mast live trucks vans.
• 5-7 years of photojournalism experience
• Knowledge of non-linear editing systems, Edius experience a plus
• Proven ability to generate creative, engaging, content-driven live shots
• SNG experience a plus
• Live Center/ENG coordination experience a plus
• Skills in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and After Effects a plus
• Demonstrated news judgment with an understanding of the tenets of professional journalism
• Organizational skills and the ability to work under constant time pressure deadlines
• Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events
• Must be team-oriented, have a positive attitude, and be a problem solver
• Must be flexible with schedule, reliable and dependable

Position: Lifestyle Editor/Photographer – Arizona Midday
Arizona Midday, 12News’ weekday lifestyle and sponsored content show, is looking for a highly skilled Editor/Photographer who can take segments from concept to completion. This role sits at the center of our lifestyle production operation and plays a critical part in delivering polished, brand-safe, client-driven content across broadcast, streaming, social, and digital.
This is a hands-on, creative production role, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can work independently in the field, and understands both storytelling and client expectations.
Responsibilities:
- Show & Segment Production:
- Serve as the primary editor for Arizona Midday, delivering the daily show with clean, polished, on-brand edits.
- Edit both show builds and individual sponsored segments, ensuring broadcast-ready quality.
- Create short-form and social cuts from segments for cross-platform distribution.
- Field & Studio Shooting
- Shoot both in-studio and on-location lifestyle segments featuring hosts, guests, and clients.
- Execute professional lighting, framing, and audio for:
- Host segments
- Client integrations
- Product demonstrations
- Branded storytelling pieces
- Capture strong visual sequences, natural sound, and b-roll that elevate storytelling and production value.
- Client & Internal Collaboration
Work closely with: - Producers
- Hosts
- Sales team
- Clients-to help plan, storyboard, and execute segments that meet both editorial and business goals.
- Represent 12News professionally on client shoots, maintaining a solutions-oriented, service-minded approach.
- Help translate client ideas into visually strong, brand-compliant content.
Post-Production & Graphics: - Use EDIUS and Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator) to:
- Edit segments and full shows
- Add graphics, supers, and visual treatments
- Prepare content for broadcast, streaming, and digital
- Maintain visual consistency with 12News brand standards.
Workflow & Operations: - Manage multiple shoots and edit deadlines simultaneously.
- Maintain and operate ENG and production gear, including cameras, lighting kits, audio, and support equipment.
- Assist with file management and delivery of final assets for multi-platform publishing.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, film, communications, related field or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating:
- Lifestyle or magazine-style content
- Branded or sponsored storytelling
- High-quality shooting and editing
- Proficiency in non-linear editing (EDIUS required; Premiere Pro highly preferred).
- Working knowledge of After Effects for basic motion graphics and visual enhancements.
- Strong field production skills: camera, lighting, audio.
- Ability to work independently in the field and as part of a small production team.
- Excellent organization and time management skills in a deadline-driven environment.
- Professional demeanor when working with clients and community partners.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Nice to Have: - Experience in lifestyle, magazine-format, or commercial production.
- Photoshop and Illustrator skills for simple graphics and treatments.
- FAA Part 107 drone certification.
