Responsibilities:

• Inspire prospective clients by explaining IonQ’s strategy, portfolio and answering technical questions about quantum portfolio (compute, network, security, sensing and space) and quantum applications.
• Lead and shepherd client discussions, inspiring them to see how quantum applications can be implemented in their business domain.
• This includes working through business needs and mapping Quantum Algorithms (financial services, bioscience, chemistry and materials, optimization, generative AI, and other domains) into application code and executing Proof-of-Concepts together with the IonQ Application team.
• Share insights from clients with the IonQ Product Management and Engineering teams such that client feedback is incorporated into our products.
• Navigate competitive objection handling
• Translate business needs expressed by our clients into technical work projects in collaboration with other team members.
• Create assets to explain features of our quantum applications and other IonQ quantum products.
• Move dialogs from initial ideation to focused exploration domain through to proof-of-concept and ultimately into production workflows.

• Partner with marketing, developer relations and business development to grow awareness of IonQ in the world at large.

You’d be a good fit with:

• 5 years of experience in technical customer-facing roles or equivalent capacity.  The ability to communicate (at the various context-appropriate levels of depth) and persuade clearly, have strong EQ, and other customer facings skills are critical.

About the Role

As an IP Network Engineer, you will develop and operate a modern network based on IP/BGP/MPLS/OSPF protocols. You will join our team of highly skilled engineers responsible for both IP and IT operations, where you will be one of three dedicated specialists focusing specifically on the IP domain. We are seeking someone with the competence and commitment to ensure a scalable and flexible IP network with high uptime. Overview

The responsibilities of our Platform team include building and maintaining all backend services, including, but not limited to, payments, analytics, subscriptions, new products, text to speech, and external APIs.

This is a key role and ideal for someone who thinks strategically, enjoys fast-paced environments, is passionate about making product decisions, and has experience building great user experiences that delight users.

Our interview process involves several technical interviews and we aim to complete them within 1 week. 

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain robust APIs including public TTS API, internal APIs like Payment, Subscription, Auth and Consumption Tracking, ensuring they meet business and scalability requirements
• Oversee the full backend API landscape, enhancing and optimizing for performance and maintainability
• Collaborate on B2B solutions, focusing on customization and integration needs for enterprise clients
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to align backend architecture with overall product strategy and user experience

An Ideal Candidate Should Have

• Proven experience in backend development: TS/Node (required)
• Direct experience with GCP and knowledge of AWS, Azure, or other cloud providers
• Efficiency in ideation and implementation, prioritizing tasks based on urgency and impact
• Preferred: Experience with Docker and containerized deployments
• Preferred: Proficiency in deploying high availability applications on Kubernetes

• Delta i en rekke programvarebaserte prosjekter med eksterne kunder: forstå problemstillinger og innhente krav, oversette forretningsproblemer til tekniske krav, og gjøre data om til innsikt.
• Jobbe i team med forskere og ingeniører for å levere robuste programvareløsninger til grunnleggende og anvendte forskningsprosjekter.
• Initiere og delta i industrielle forskningsprosjekter, samarbeide om prosjektsøknader og drive FoU-prosesser.

• Har en doktorgrad, eller mastergrad etterfulgt av minst 4 års erfaring, innen systemutvikling (Software Engineering), vitenskapelige beregninger (Scientific Computing) eller et relatert felt (f.eks. Data Science).
• Er lidenskapelig opptatt av programvareutvikling og teknologi, med dokumentert erfaring som profesjonell utvikler eller som bidragsyter til høykvalitets open source-prosjekter.

Om Simula:

Simula Research Laboratory AS er et offentlig eid forskningslaboratorium i Oslo. Simula driver forskning innen informasjons- og kommunikasjonsteknologi (IKT) på områdene vitenskapelige beregninger, systemutvikling, kommunikasjonssystemer, maskinlæring og cybersikkerhet.

Simulas hovedmål er å skape kunnskap om grunnleggende vitenskapelige utfordringer som har genuin verdi for samfunnet. Exciting positions bridging scientific research and industry.

Simula’s vision is to be an excellent research lab, educating future technology leaders and providing independent advice to the government. We want to be an innovator and innovation partner and apply our expertise to problems that matter, and to bridge the gap between fundamental scientific discovery and real-world challenges. 

We are currently strengthening our team with new positions that will act as a bridge between fundamental research and real-world applications, both towards industrial users and interdisciplinary scientific collaborators. As a new member of our team, you will have a central role in connecting results and insights from basic research to real-world problems and applications, through high-quality software solutions and applied research. You will be involved in exciting and challenging projects in different domains ranging from med-tech (e.g. developing models for personalized medicine) to energy (e.g. working on ML pipelines to increase production efficiency), and a lot more. You will help clients and collaborators understand their needs and translate those needs into tangible and novel innovations, in close collaboration with other scientists and engineers.

In short, here’s what you will focus on:

• Participate in a variety of software-based  projects with external customers: understand a problem and gather requirements, translate business problems into technical requirements and turn data into insights.
• Work in teams with scientists and engineers, providing robust software solutions for fundamental and applied research projects.
• Initiate and join industrial research projects, collaborate on project proposals and drive R&D processes.

As a candidate for these positions, we believe you recognize yourself in most of the following:

• Have a PhD, or a Master’s degree followed by at least 4 years of experience,  in Software Engineering, Scientific Computing and/ore.g. Data Science/Machine Learning.
• Be passionate about software development and technology, with documented experience as a professional developer or from strong contributions to high-quality open source projects.
• Have an aptitude for client communication and solution development.
• Be a curious and collaborative person that puts quality first.

In addition, we consider the following beneficial:
