SCHEDULES, BENEFITS, AND COMPENSATION

• This is a part-time, non-exempt/hourly position requiring a minimum of 25 hours per week, with occasional opportunities to work additional hours based on school needs.  
• You will work a five-hour shift, Monday through Friday, totaling 25 hours per week. Specific school schedules are determined by school leaders when considering all staff, classroom, and community needs, but is currently expected to be either 8:30am-1:30pm or 11:30am-4:30pm. Please indicate which shift(s) you are interested in on your application.  
• The full compensation range for this position is $19-$22 per hour. The starting pay for all new employees is $19 per hour.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Age 18 with high school diploma or GED  
• Ability to pass background checks, clear tuberculosis screenings, and (upon hire) successfully complete trainings required by the state of Florida to supervise children independently

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

• Prior experience supporting or teaching children ages 3–5 in a Montessori or early childhood classroom setting
• Experience working effectively across lines of difference and fostering an inclusive, welcoming environment for all children and families
• Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage daily operational tasks such as classroom setup, safety checks, and basic clerical responsibilities
• Demonstrated reliability and flexibility in supporting school operations, including meal service, playground supervision, assisting with classroom coverage as needed, and lead after-school activities 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Instructional

• Serve as a floating assistant teacher, providing support wherever and however the school most needs it each day
• As needed, independently supervise children throughout the day in classrooms and a variety of other situations, including but not limited to arrival/departure, transitions, outside time, rest/nap time, and (if offered) extended hours
• Assist in maintaining accurate child and family records
• Complete Montessori basics training and credentialing/licensing requirements within seven days of hire

Operational

• Support Bezos Academy classrooms by following regulations and guidelines in the day-to-day operation of the classroom and school (e.g. cleaning/preparing materials, meal prep and cleanup, nap time transitions, laundry, bathroom supervision, etc.)
• Support school leadership and teachers to foster a nurturing, safe, and stimulating, non-competitive school environment
• Support children’s increasing independence with daily living skills (i.e., washing hands, using the bathroom, eating meals and snacks, cleaning up, etc.)
• Maintain licensing and credentialing requirements and complete required ongoing professional development trainings in a timely manner
• Attend staff meetings and family events as schedule allows
• Assume postures at low levels (e.g., kneeling, stooping, bending, and sitting on the floor) as needed to communicate effectively with children
• Provide support to nearby Bezos Academy schools, as needed, at the direction of your Head of School or District School Leader

We are actively hiring Montessori Assistant Teachers for our preschool in Kissimmee – Poinciana (3701 Marigold Ave, Kissimmee, FL 34758).

There are two start date options for the Montessori Assistant Teacher position:

• May 19, 2026, for those who wish to enter our full-time training program to become Montessori certified before the fall. Please note this summer training program involves travel to Seattle from July 13th - July 24th for in-person training (BA will cover your travel expenses). 
• July 21, 2026, for those who elect to participate in an external training program, who are already credentialed, or who wish to enter our part-time training program to become Montessori certified on a later timeline. Please note this option will require some coursework to be completed outside of normal working hours.

This role requires a Primary Montessori teaching credential from a MACTE-accredited institution. If you do not currently have this credential, your employment in this role is provisional until you successfully obtain one. Upon hire, you may elect to obtain a credential through the Bezos Academy Montessori Credential Program (MCP), offered at no cost, or through any other MACTE-accredited program at your own expense. 

Participation in MCP is voluntary and unpaid. MCP activities may occur during periods that overlap with scheduled working hours or scheduled breaks, including summer break. Instructional 

• Support the lead teacher in preparing and delivering instructional activities that facilitate active Montessori learning experiences
• Assist in presenting individual and small-group Montessori lessons, adapting activities to meet each child’s developmental stage and interests
• Observe each child daily to assess skills, interests, and needs and use this information to facilitate learning and growth

As a Student Support Assistant, you will partner directly with the classroom teaching team to help support various children with diverse learning, behavioral, and developmental needs at a Bezos Academy school within our network of high quality, tuition-free, Montessori-inspired preschools in under-resourced communities. You will work collaboratively with other teachers to create a classroom environment where children can thrive and are on track to be ready for kindergarten. You will collaborate with families, teachers, and school leaders to help implement student support strategies based on individual child needs and formal support plans, grounded in the multi-tiered system of support (MTSS). While you will generally support children with additional needs, your support will flex across classrooms depending on need, and you may be deployed as a general assistant teacher in your building when appropriate. This role provides flexible, school‑wide support and is not assigned as dedicated one-on-one support for any individual student, nor does it provide specialized medical or personal care services, special education instruction, or therapeutic services.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Support classroom teachers with the individualized learning, behavioral, and developmental needs of various students at the school
• Help implement strategies in alignment with formal student support and/or behavior plans with Lead Teachers and Assistant Teachers maintaining primary implementation responsibilities
• Assist teachers in preparing instructional materials, maintaining an orderly classroom environment, and reinforcing consistent routines
