Senior Accountant, Construction

What The Role Is
Reporting to the Manager of Construction Accounting, the Senior Accountant is responsible for financial data management, journal entries, account reconciliations, timely completion, and assistance with monthly and quarterly internal financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting for various components of Clearway. This person will also be responsible for other ad hoc projects as assigned, which will cover all aspects of accounting for Clearway’s Construction renewable energy projects. The primary objective is to account for and report on multiple utility-scale construction ownership structures.

Scottsdale, Houston, Denver: $83,000 - $92,000
San Diego, Princeton: $101,000 - $112,000
San Francisco: $105,000 - $122,000
What You'll Be Doing
- Execute the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process within clearly specified time frames, following established internal control processes and procedures.
- Perform analytical functions necessary to achieve an accurate and timely general ledger month-end close. Duties include analysis of income statements, balance sheets, and equity transactions, preparation of financial statements, and general accounting support for financed and non-financed projects.
- Prepare monthly draw packages for assigned construction projects.
- Utilize financial reporting software to create, maintain, and update reporting templates and data queries.
- Prepare and maintain adequate documentation to support financial statement assertions and the performance of internal control over financial reporting.
- Support the business by providing accurate general ledger account coding for construction projects.
- Support the corporate accounting teams with ad hoc requests, including fixed asset form preparation.
- Assist with the preparation of quarterly unaudited and annual audited financial statements of multiple construction projects in accordance with GAAP to comply with the reporting requirements of the lender and ownership agreements, which include tax equity and cash equity ownership structures.
- In close collaboration with other technical accounting professionals, assist with researching technical accounting and reporting matters, accounting principles, and financial reporting rules.
- Collaborate with and respond to ad hoc requests from key stakeholders within the organization (e.g., Treasury, Portfolio Finance, Construction). The financial statements over which this accountant will preside are key deliverables to current and prospective institutional investors and lenders.
- Assist with special projects and additional duties as assigned.
- Support the annual audit process for standalone audits, which includes compiling financial statements and footnote schedules, providing data requests to external auditors, and providing substantial support for audit selections.
- Support parent and affiliate company audit requests from external auditors.
- Work with internal functional departments (e.g., Treasury, Construction, Engineering, and Procurement) and external groups to ensure reported financial results are completed in a timely and accurate manner in compliance with company policies and procedures.
- On an as-needed basis, support the Tax department as needed for income tax preparation for partnership returns or tax provisions.
- Perform all aspects of work with a high degree of accuracy, effectiveness, and efficiency.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in general accounting.
- Knowledge of ERP accounting system.
- Ability to handle multiple concurrent efforts and provide high-quality deliverables accurately and on time.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with all levels of internal and external customers.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Practical understanding and application of internal control processes and procedures over financial accounting and reporting.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including performing financial and analytical computations in Excel.
- Detail-oriented and adaptable to changing working requirements.
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented, collaborative environment that emphasizes attention to detail, meeting deadlines, and working together to achieve company-wide objectives.
- Demonstrate a “can-do” attitude in embracing company goals and initiatives.
What Would Be Nice
- CPA and/or Master’s in accounting preferred.
- Public accounting experience preferred.
- SAP experience.
- Energy industry (or real estate company) experience is preferred.

The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, relevant and demonstrated experience, education, training and certifications, and other factors permitted by law. This role is eligible to earn an annual cash bonus, subject to personal and company performance goals.

What The Role Is
We are seeking a Senior SAP Financial Accounting Specialist with 5–7 years of experience and strong expertise in SAP S/4HANA. Reporting to the Senior Manager, IT Applications, the Senior SAP Financial Accounting Specialist will have hands-on experience in Treasury, Accounting, Finance, and Tax (TAFT), and will support the business post-implementation by ensuring system stability, optimizing processes, and assisting end-users.
Knowledge of Treasury, Fixed Assets, and Lease Accounting is a plus. Industry experience in Oil & Gas, Utilities, and Renewable Energy is preferred.

What You'll Be Doing
- Provide day-to-day support for SAP S/4HANA Accounting, Treasury, and related modules.
- Lead requirements gathering, design, configuration, testing, and go-live for Ariba modules.
- Conduct workshops with Treasury, Accounting, Financial, and Tax teams, identifying process improvements and enhancements
- Collaborate with offshore delivery teams and stakeholders, providing technical and functional oversight
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
- Should have exposure in Enable Payment process, Establish Closing Schedule, Close Period, Process Year-End Adjustments, Carry Balance Forward, Close Year-End, and 1099 Processing.
- Maintain and validate master data, including Chart of Accounts, Bank Accounts, and Business Partners.
- Support testing and validation for upgrades, patches, and new functionalities.
- Conduct user training and create documentation for processes and best practices.
- Facilitate integration error resolution (e.g., Banking, Vertex, etc.) and ensure data consistency across systems.
- Assist with compliance and audit requirements related to finance, treasury, accounting, etc. processes.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Accounting, or related field.
- 8-10 years of experience in supporting SAP S/4HANA (Accounting, Treasury, Fixed Asset).
- Strong understanding of accounting processes and best practices.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Strong customer-facing and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- Excellent documentation skills and highly skilled in Microsoft..
What Would Be Nice
- Experience with Coupa or Ariba.
- SAP S/4HANA certification.
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA Finance (General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Special Purpose Ledger, Consolidation, Cost center Accounting, Profit center Accounting, In-House cash, Internal Orders, Real Estate Management, Lease Accounting, Treasury, and Concur).
- Familiarity with SAP VIM and Fiori applications.
- Industry experience in Oil & Gas, Utilities, and Renewable Energy.
