With teams in Denver, San Francisco, and New York, we support more than 500,000 small businesses nationwide and are building a workplace that reflects the people we serve.

We’re at the beginning of a new era in customer experience, one where AI doesn’t just respond, but understands, reasons, and takes action. We’re building agentic AI that enterprises trust with their most important customer moments: complex questions, high volumes, real stakes. When millions of people reach out to a brand, those interactions aren’t just support tickets; they’re defining experiences. We’re here to raise the standard: making every conversation seamless, intelligent, and genuinely helpful. If you care about shaping how businesses and customers connect at scale—and want your work to matter in real, everyday moments—this is where you do it.
At Parloa, ownership isn’t a buzzword; it means being accountable for outcomes, not just tasks. We operate in a category that’s evolving fast, where the bar is high, and the problems are complex. We hire people who think in solutions, communicate with clarity, and follow through. People who are comfortable making decisions, taking responsibility, and raising the standard for themselves and those around them.
We’ve grown beyond the earliest startup phase, but we’ve kept the intensity: fast execution, direct feedback, and a strong expectation to contribute meaningfully from day one.
Backed by leading global investors like General Catalyst, EQT Ventures, and Altimeter Capital, we’re scaling with a clear ambition: to become the global category leader in enterprise-grade conversational AI.
Compensation for this role is structured as On-Target Earnings (OTE), consisting of a base salary and performance-based variable component, in addition to an equity package.

You will oversee context engineering for AI applications at The Times, starting with the scaling and launch of a modern content retrieval product. You will be a key collaborator with other data platforms at The Times to build a new infrastructure layer for the A.I. era. And you will work with consumer product teams to advance content and user data capabilities to advance NAPP and The Times' product development lifecycle, from prototyping to production.
Responsibilities:
Own the Discovery Engine Roadmap: Lead the development of the Discovery Engine from to full production migration, including deep collaboration with consumer teams on NAPP and across the company.
Cross-Functional Dependency Management: Serve as the primary partner for our Publishing, Data Platforms and the ML Function to secure clean data feeds and manage the creation and use of embeddings for text and users.
Retrieval & Ranking Strategy: Define and tune the hybrid search logic that balances semantic similarity, keyword match, and personalization signals to ensure high-quality retrieval for diverse AI-powered use cases.
Data Enrichment & Ingestion: Oversee the pipelines for AI-generated metadata – including editor-in-the-loop workflows – and ensure non-text assets like video and audio transcripts are indexed and searchable.
Validation & Performance: Define and monitor technical KPIs, including P95 query latency, throughput, retrieval accuracy, cost and downstream AI application performance using tools like Braintrust and StatSig in partnership with downstream product teams.
Vendor Evaluations: Lead technical pilots (e.g. vector databases, knowledge graphs) to de-risk architectural decisions and inform our long-term build-vs-buy strategy.
Visioning: Identify and scope opportunities for infrastructure that would provide additional context or unlock new capabilities for The Times (for example, Knowledge Graphs or semantic data layers).
Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.
You will report to the Director, A.I. Platforms.
Basic Qualifications:
5+ years of Product Management experience, with a focus on high-scale backend systems, search infrastructure, or data platforms.
Deep technical literacy in AI/ML. Demonstrated experience with vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, turbopuffer), embeddings, and RAG architectures.
Experience discussing complex technical dependencies, API design, and system boundaries with engineering partners.

Support the full experimentation and instrumentation stack, from event collection to data modeling and downstream usage, including changes to schemas and contracts.
Build for reliability and observability, including monitoring, alerting, runbooks, and participation in incident response for the systems you own.
Create clear documentation, examples, and integration guide that help engineers and partners use our tools.
Contribute to code and design reviews and pair programming to improve code quality and maintainability across the team.
Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.
Basic Qualifications:

Our Emerging Team is focused on building AI Products for our product experience (PX) platform. We build from the ground up to explore, prototype, and ship AI-native experiences that change how software teams understand and serve their users. This is not an AI layer added to existing product; it is a deliberate bet on what product intelligence looks like next. The team operates with high autonomy, moves quickly, and builds products without clear precedents.
As an AI Software Engineer, you will build applied AI systems that move from prototype to production. You will bring deep technical capability, strong product judgment, and clear communication to decisions across prompting, fine-tuning, RAG, MLOps, and full-stack product delivery. You will partner closely with product and design to frame the right problems and ship AI-native experiences that hold up for real users.
This role is based in our New York office.
Beyond the qualifications, we hire through a specific lens. These aren't buzzwords; they're the things we'll actually look for in how you talk about your work.
You're a builder, not a maintainer.
You're most energized when there isn't a clear path yet, and you get to define it. You don't wait for direction; you identify gaps, shape solutions, and drive them forward. At Pendo, great AI Software Engineers don't just follow instructions; they operate as strategic advisors, influencing decisions, guiding stakeholders, and elevating how we work.
You're AI-curious - genuinely.
You're not using AI tools occasionally. You're rewiring how you work around them. You're faster, sharper, and more prolific because of it, and you bring that energy to everything — how you approach your work, how you prep, how you communicate, how you think. We want someone who sees AI as a multiplier, not a shortcut.
Pendo was founded in 2013 by former product managers, who combined their heads and hearts to build something they wanted but never had as product managers: a simple way to understand and attack what truly drives product success. Pendo Core Values: Bias to Act, Hone Your Craft, The Team is Pendo, and Maniacal Focus.

Apply to PendoStripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.
Before Stripe, every growing internet platform had a payments team. Today, every growing internet platform has an Identity team. Identity verification has become core economic infrastructure for online businesses — enabling them to digitally verify their users' identities for fraud prevention, regulatory compliance, and trust and safety purposes.
At Stripe, we're building something more ambitious than a verification product. Our vision is to build the world's most trusted store of verified identities — a single, global, reusable, risk-scored representation of every individual who interacts with Stripe and beyond. This Identity Store becomes a platform with compounding network effects: more verifications enrich the store; a richer store produces better fraud signals; better signals mean lower friction for trusted users; lower friction drives more adoption.
Our product today serves millions of verifications per month for customers like OpenAI, Shopify, and WhatNot, and powers identity verification across multiple internal Stripe products including Fraud, Link, Connect, and Crypto. The problems ahead — adversarial AI and deepfake defense, networked identity infrastructure, progressive verification platforms, and low friction KYC APIs — sit at the frontier of what's possible in identity engineering.
As a Staff Engineer on the Identity team, you will own the technical direction of one of Stripe's most strategically important product areas. This is not a role defined by task execution — it's a role defined by technical judgment, architectural influence, and the ability to turn an ambitious vision into a reliable, scalable system.
We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.
