Responsibilities:

• Collaborate and execute long-term newsroom strategy
• Train, develop, and coach the newsroom team with a focus on mentoring content creators across all platforms
• Oversee the daily editorial process
• Oversee the on-air execution and provide coaching and showcasing techniques
• Review, approve scripts, and provide writing/copy editing to rundowns to ensure accuracy and quality
• Source and recruit top-notch journalists
• Participate in coordinating all aspects of coverage, from breaking news to enterprise story production and specials
• Ensure the news coverage meets our brand, policies, values, and FCC rules
• Direct newsroom operations and manage schedules
• Work with newsroom management to establish goals and further develop our local brand

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field
• Prior industry experience as a news producer and as a newsroom leader
• Track record of quality journalism, high integrity, and ethical decision-making
• Passion for growing journalists and fostering a creative, positive, and collaborative newsroom
• Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news, and changing events
• Strong organization, planning skills and the ability to work under constant time-sensitive deadlines
• Knowledge of AP ENPS, Edius, photojournalism, video editing, and content management systems a plus

WWL WUPL-TV in New Orleans is looking for a dynamic and engaging Meteorologist to join our passionate team. This position is responsible for preparing and delivering accurate weather reports on-air and online in a conversational manner. The key responsibility is the ability to gather and analyze information and alert our audiences about what’s going to happen with weather in their community. We are looking for a team player who can help with every aspect of meteorology, from forecasting, to preparing graphics, to reporting in the field, you will be an integral part of severe weather coverage, and reaching our consumers not only on TV, but online and on social media. The ideal candidate embraces new technology and is willing to explore new ways to present the weather story. As a central member of the WX department, the ideal candidate is a team player who participates in brainstorming and planning for future shows, including important weather events and explainers.

• Provide accurate and compelling weather forecasts in a multi-platform environment
• Prepare and deliver severe weather updates, interrupting regular programming as necessary.
• Produce clean, creative and informative graphics to tell the weather story

Requirements: 

• BA/BS degree in Meteorology, Geoscience or Atmospheric Science.

WWL WUPL-TV New Orleans , the CBS/MNTV TEGNA affiliate, is looking for an experienced Multi-Skilled Journalist to help maintain our tradition of superior reporting and newsgathering. We are interested in finding a journalist who can create unique, memorable and well written stories, who can share them on all platforms with a mix of outstanding photography and unforgettable editing. If you're a creative storyteller who understands true multi-platform journalism and who is not bound by the methods of traditional TV news – we want to hear from you! 

Current driver's license and ability to operate news gathering vehicle to and from various locations is required.

Responsibilities: 

• Perform authoritative, compelling live shots in a developing story or in breaking news situations
• Develop story ideas
• Mine the community to find sources who will keep you informed about events and ideas in their areas of expertise
• Ability to identify, write and produce stories within a specific framework.
• Research for facts and credibility.
• Maintain and develop sources who will help bring our reporting to the next level.
• Shoot, write, produce and edit on air and online content within deadlines.
• Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media (viewer pictures, webcam interviews, etc.) to enhance stories.
• Use social media and digital tools to research, discover and distribute content.
• Attend editorial meetings and offer story ideas daily.
• Write in an exciting, captivating and authentic manner.

Requirements: 

• 1-3 years reporting experience preferred.
• Must possess solid news judgment, display strong communication skills, creativity, and ethical decision-making skills.
• Strong writing skills, production skills and tease writing abilities.
• ENPS, EDIUS and Axis graphics experience is preferred.
• Must be organized with the ability to work under constant deadlines.
• Must be able to calmly handle live breaking news situations and changing events.
• Proven social and digital content creation ability.
• Knowledge of New Orleans a plus ​

Want to get paid to become a piercer at Studs? Apprentices undergo a minimum 6-week paid piercing training program inclusive of classroom style learning, observation, and hands-on training. We are always looking for Apprentices to join our training program! Upon successful completion of the program, graduated Apprentices will become eligible for a Part Time or Full Time Associate Piercer position at one of our studio locations.

Hourly Rate:

• Graduated apprentices make $24/hour as Associate Piercers, plus tips
  During the 6-week training program, apprentices make $18/hour, plus tips

Requirements:

• 3 years of relevant work experience
• At least two years as a Medical Assistant or Phlebotomist (performing venipunctures and/or finger sticks) preferred
• Full Time:
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule up to 5 days per week (32+ hours), including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Must maintain consistent availability
  • Weekend availability (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) is required, excluding approved PTO
  • Schedules may vary based on business needs, and Full-Time employees are expected to prioritize Studs as their primary employment commitment
• Part Time:
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule of varying days and hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must have availability to work on Saturday and Sunday, excluding approved unscheduled time away
  • Reliably attend work as scheduled for up to 29 hours per week, in line with local laws and subject to any approved accommodations
• Must pierce a minimum 18 appointments a day
• Must be able to visually inspect ear anatomy to execute advanced piercings
