• 3+years of experience with software compliance, regulatory agencies, and preferably functional safety or electrical standards (IEC 62443, UL 1998, UL 5500, IEC 60730, IEC 62351, etc.) 

• Proficiency in C or C++ for embedded systems 

• Experience with software and firmware testing frameworks 

• Excellent written and verbal communications in English, especially where compliance documentation is concerned 

• Excellent analytical skills to conduct risk assessments and safety analysis (FMEA, HAZOP, etc.)

Role Summary

Amperesand is working to develop, build, test, and validate a ground-up redesigned next-generation solid state transformer (SST) and the power stage modules (PSMs) that convert power from medium-voltage AC to customer-facing DC output.  This internship will include building and testing of prototype units, root cause analysis of issues found, and design and changes of parts to fix or improve.   

Responsibilities: 

• UtilizeCAD software to create detailed mechanical designs.  3DX/Catia experience preferred but not required. 
• Model and design complex electro-mechanical parts, including plastics, sheet metal, insulators, magnetic components, and high-voltage connectors.
• Perform mechanical design analysisby means offirst principal calculation or simulation with commercial software, including structural FEA, thermal CFD, vibration, and fatigue assessments. 
• Solve packaging challenges involving electrical isolation, sealing, thermal dissipation, EMI/EMC shielding, and mechanical shock/vibration.
•  Perform prototype development, fabrication, assembly, and mechanical testing of new designs.
•  Support root-cause analysis of design issues in pilot or production builds and lead iterative improvements. 
•  Define and execute validation test plans including structural, thermal, and environmental testing. 
• 2D drawings with GD&T for production and inspection.
• Create engineering documentation, tolerance stacks, BOMs, and release packages through PLM systems.

Qualifications:

The Director of Commercial Operations is a critical senior management team member and is responsible for the safe and reliable operation of Motional’s commercial fleet and supporting commercial partners. Reporting to the Senior Director of Operations, the Director of Commercial Operations is expected to develop and maintain an excellent level of operating performance through increased reliability and close working relationships with cross-functional stakeholders. Qualifications:

The primary function of this position is to design custom machinery and support the entire project cycle from concept development through installation, commissioning, and handover to the operations team. Responsibilities:

•  Utilize CAD software CAD software (3D EXPERIENCE (3DX), CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, Creo etc.) to create detailed mechanical designs.

• Model and design complex electro-mechanical parts, including plastics, sheet metal, insulators, magnetic components, and high-voltage connectors.
