About the Young Professionals Program

One Acre Fund’s Young Professionals Program offers high-performing African graduates meaningful internships and training opportunities at a high-performing, mission-driven organization. Our internships are paid and all interns can expect to receive substantive work assignments working on high-impact projects that support One Acre Fund's operations.

When joining, interns will participate in an onboarding program and receive training on how to design and execute projects. About the Role

This role supports the execution of the loan compliance and reporting function, the department’s operations, lender due diligence, and one-off analytical projects.

Responsibilities

Support the Execution of loan compliance and reporting function

• Draft reports required by lenders (e.g. annual questionnaires, quarterly financial reports, ad hoc requests) with oversight of the Investor Relation Specialist for review by the relationship managers
• Work with payments team to ensure we make interest payments on time
• Support reconciliations related to IR’s work (debt, refundable advances, FX hedging) while working with accounting team on the quarterly close process
• Draft the quarterly financial health dashboard to allow senior IR team members to report on the health of the balance sheet to the Finance Committee

Support Investor Relations team operations

• Support processes and systems used by the IR team (Loan tracker, Salesforce, RiskScreen). Enter information to make sure that they are up to date.
• Retain loan documents as required by document retention policies. Keep the IR folder organized so that the IR team works efficiently
• Provide administrative support when signing new retail notes and loans

Lender relationship management and Due Diligence

• Assist on due diligence analyses and proposals as requested by relationship managers, under the supervision of the Investor Relations specialist. Work may include preparation of spreadsheets, prep of written summaries of One Acre Fund’s operations, finding requested information by working with other teams and leveraging existing resources.
• Support the maintenance of Due Diligence resources by updating resources and improving IR’s Resources Management system.
• Help update the key outreach materials with up to date audited financials, impact results, and other relevant updates.

Analytical Special Projects

• Support the execution of data analysis and financial modeling projects
• Other one-off projects to support the Investor Relations team or other teams in the Finance Department

Qualifications

Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:

• Knowledge: Good understanding of finance and accounting; some exposure to financial statement analysis preferred
• Technical skills:
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Strong knowledge of MS Excel (google sheets a plus). Experience with Financial Modeling in Excel and complex formulas (e.g: Index, Match, Lookups) preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to consolidate information from multiple sources in a clear way
• Top-performing undergraduate background
• Soft skills:
• Ability to work both independently and part of a team depending on the project. Ability to work remotely
• Combine strong leadership skills with good humor, patience, and a humble approach to service

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Internal Auditor to lead our internal audit activities in Kenya. This role is ideal for a professional with a background in internal audit, and team leadership, preferably within a processing, retail, or multi-location environment.

You will lead a country-based audit team, setting and delivering audit plans, identifying and mitigating risks, whilst being a trusted partner to both local leadership. This is a central role requiring collaboration with country leadership and other partners.

You will be based in Kenya, with regional travel expected and reporting to the Internal Audit Manager.

Responsibilities

Strategic Audit Leadership

• You will develop the annual audit plan for your country and team.
• You will identify and assess audit risks within the country and develop appropriate audit responses.
• You will manage audit activities relative to budget, ensuring timely execution.

Engagement and Reporting

• Conduct regular risk meetings with department heads and division leads.
• Present findings and risk areas to the Board and senior management.
• Maintain accountability for audit findings; ensure appropriate resolution by management.

Leadership & Development

• You will lead a team of in-country auditors.
• You will implement tailored learning and development programs based on local risk profiles and audit plans.
• You will promote performance through setting and monitoring of team-level goals.

Audit Excellence

• You will ensure execution of audits whilst observing professional standards.
• You will monitor the effectiveness of financial controls and recommend improvements.
• You will escalate critical findings with clear solutions.
• You will build relationships across teams to enhance audit effectiveness and facilitate resolution of findings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, commerce, finance, or a related field.
• Professional certification, such as CPA, ACCA, or CIA is required.
• 5–7 years' experience in internal auditing, including team leadership.
• Experience developing audit plans, assessing risks, and resolving findings.
• Retail or similar multi-site operational experience.
• Inventory audit experience.
• Management skills.
• Excellent risk assessment capabilities.
• Influence and deliver feedback at all levels, including senior management and boards.
• A collaborative mindset.
