Your role as a Site Reliability Engineer will be to design, implement, and manage our on-premise Kubernetes infrastructure.

As a SRE, you will design and build cloud-native infrastructure platforms on-premises, focusing on Kubernetes-based solutions that enable our development teams to operate services at scale.
You will create robust observability frameworks using Grafana, Prometheus, and distributed tracing to ensure system reliability and performance
You will architect and implement secure, multi-tenant Kubernetes clusters with strong access controls, policy-as-code governance, and zero-trust networking between red and black network domains. You will develop operators and controllers to automate infrastructure provisioning and compliance
You will build and maintain MLOps platforms enabling AI researchers to deploy, monitor, and scale machine learning models in production.

Software only matters when it is actively being used and making a difference. As a Deployed AI Engineer, you will be at the heart of this - taking state-of-the-art software and integrating it into complex systems. You will be defining and executing against the end-to-end outcome and all steps on the way to delivering novel capabilities in some of the most challenging environments around.
For example: you collaborate directly with customer avionics engineers to understand the data structures and APIs used in aircraft mission control systems. Define the imaging architecture: You will select the optimal combination of lenses and sensors aligning requirements with our AI team to optimize algorithm performance, balancing technical trade-offs.
You will guide & perform the implementation of low-level logic like FPGA programming, handling high-speed sensor interfaces and implementing hardware-based synchronization.
Drive the Manufacturing Lifecycle: You will collaborate closely with external partners to transition your designs from prototype to production, defining validation tests and resolving challenges for complex opto-electronic assemblies.
Hardware Bring-up & Debug: You will spend hands-on time in the lab bringing up prototypes, testing their performance under varying conditions and support their integration into our software stack.
Image Quality Tuning: You will analyze application specific camera performance and tune your designs & low-level algorithms to maximize the value the sensor provides to our AI applications.
Have a Ph.D. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Physics, Optical Engineering, related field or equivalent work experience.
Have a professional track record of bringing complex opto-electronic systems from prototype to mass production.
Have mastered Opto-Mechanical Design Challenges, e.g. thermal management for high-power sensors or precise mechanical mounting for optical alignment
Possess a deep understanding of the "physics of imaging," ranging from lens selection and MTF characteristics to CMOS sensor architecture, quantum efficiency, and noise sources.
Understand system-level synchronization, knowing how to utilize PTP, PPS, or hardware triggers (Hsync, Vsync) to perfectly align image capture with other sensors and compute modules.
Are proficient in languanges like C/C++ or Rust for low-level firmware development or hardware-software interface debugging.
Have brought hardware to life using Verilog, SystemVerilog, VHDL or similar, dealing with high-bandwidth data streams, video processing pipelines, and sensor interfaces on the lowest level.
Hands-on experience designing and debugging PCBs for high-bandwidth image sensors, including managing signal integrity for MIPI CSI-2, LVDS, SLVS-EC links, or similar.
Experience with Optical Design Software (e.g., Zemax, Code V, or equivalent) and a familiarity with ray tracing, lens curvature, or custom glass specification.
Experience writing Linux Kernel Drivers or working with V4L2 or similar frameworks to interface with our sensors
Exposure to Computer Vision or AI pipelines giving you an understanding of how the images you capture are consumed by Helsing’s downstream algorithms.
Experience with thermal imaging designing, calibrating, and programming LWIR cameras.

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer (Rust) to join our Platform team (folks looking after the spacecraft). The successful candidate will play a crucial role in developing software for our satellite systems, contributing to the expansion and enhancement of our space-based data collection capabilities.
Ideal candidates will embrace the commercialization of nanosatellite systems and adapt to low-cost, fast-paced systems design, development, and implementation methodologies that set Spire apart from our competition. In this fast-paced environment, the design to launch cycle is measured in weeks and months, not years!

Spire operates a hybrid work model, and this position will require you to work a minimum of three days per week in the office.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Final base salary for this role will be based on the location, skills, experience and qualifications. In addition to base compensation, this role may be eligible for annual equity awards and our employee benefits program, including vacation, sick, and personal time off; optional medical, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage; a 401(K) plan; health and wellness reimbursement program; and participation in Spire’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.

What success looks like
After 3 months, you'll have immersed yourself in our company culture, understood our current infrastructure, and established strong relationships with key stakeholders. You'll begin leading the maintenance and operation of critical communication systems.
After 6 months, you'll have a solid grasp of the healthcare regulatory sector and our specific compliance requirements. You'll have successfully led the deployment or upgrade of a key practice IT system, showcasing your ability to drive efficiency and security.
After 12 months, you'll be fully adapted to our dynamic environment and recognized as a critical strategic partner. You'll have made significant strides in optimizing our automated provisioning and configuration processes, with a track record of successful projects that ensure our platforms are scalable and highly secure.

The salary range projected is between 67.000€ and 83.000€ gross per year.
