The Role
Our Player Rewards & Gamification-Product Development team in Malaga is growing and we are now looking for a Backend Software Engineer to join! You will be part of preparing our journey to containerization, increasing the scalability of our systems while also maintaining their high quality. To accommodate new requirements, we are constantly re-evaluating our systems design and working on exciting new features.
What you'll do:
- Design and develop distributed backend services using .NET and event-driven architecture.
- Collaborate with product and commercial teams to turn engagement ideas into scalable, maintainable, and user-friendly solutions.
- Optimize our microservice ecosystem for performance, reliability, and observability.
- Drive our containerization and cloud migration strategy forward.
- Participate in architecture discussions and help shape technical decisions.
- For senior engineers: Lead architectural decisions and proactively identify areas for improvement.
- Write maintainable, well-tested code and conduct code reviews.
- Participate in incident resolution and the team’s on-call rotation.
- Maintain clear technical documentation such as ADRs, runbooks, and guidelines.
- Build and share your domain expertise within the team.
What Tech Stack you'll be working with:
We don’t expect you to know everything listed below – but the more you’re familiar with, the better. What matters most is your ability to learn, collaborate, and write high-quality, maintainable code.
Core Technologies
These are essential to the role, and we’re looking for solid experience here – especially for senior candidates.
- Languages & Frameworks: C#, .NET (modern versions after .NET Core)
- Databases: SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Redis, Couchbase (experience with relational or document databases, including indexing and query optimization, is a strong plus)
- Cloud & Containers: AWS, Kubernetes, Docker (experience with any major cloud provider or containerization platform is valuable)
- Testing & Quality: xUnit/NUnit, mocking frameworks, k6 for load testing (understanding of unit, integration, and performance testing is more important than specific tools)
Additional Tools & Practices
Familiarity with these of similar tools and concepts is a plus.
- Messaging & Microservices: Web APIs, Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, Orleans (experience with any messaging or actor-based system is valuable)
- Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Splunk (or experience with other observability stacks)
- CI/CD: GitHub Actions, trunk-based development, progressive delivery (familiarity with continuous delivery pipelines and deployment strategies is more important than specific tooling)
- Architecture: Domain-driven design, event sourcing, actor model, distributed systems at planet-scale
- Ways of Working: Agile and Lean principles, DevOps mindset, strong collaboration

Following the guidance and direction of the Product Manager, you will take ownership of specific parts of the product offering and key initiatives on the product roadmap. - A relevant academic degree or qualifications; preferably technology and/or business related.
- At least 2 years of experience working in a similar role.

- Working with cutting edge technology enabling our Cloud Journey
- The DevOps Engineer for our Gaming Department will be responsible for supporting development teams (both Backend and Frontent focused), and will be instrumental in enhancing CI/CD pipelines, improving monitoring and observability, and supporting & mantaining other custom infra solutions.
- Take ownership of CI/CD pipelines, guiding developers to improve automation, reliability, and test coverage. Lead the migration from Octopus to GitHub Actions and foster a culture of developer-led deployment
- Design and evolve monitoring systems with Prometheus/Grafana (or future alternatives), integrating observability into CI/CD workflows. Ensure robust tracing, logging, and metrics correlation across services.
- Support and extend custom-built infrastructure components to handle increased traffic and complex routing. Collaborate with frontend and backend teams to ensure performance, scalability, and security.
- Work closely with all Gaming teams and DevOps engineers focused on infrastrucutre and operations. Provide tooling and guidance to developers across environments.
What we're looking for:
- Experience with GitHub Actions and Octopus; strong focus on deployment automation, speed, reliability, and test coverage. Ability to guide developers and foster ownership of CI/CD workflows.
- Proficiency with Prometheus/Grafana; capable of building dashboards, improving alerting, and integrating monitoring into CI/CD. Understanding of observability practices including tracing, logging, and metrics correlation.
- Experience with custom-built NGINX setups; able to extend routing rules to support increased traffic and complex routing needs.
- Strong knowledge of AWS (EC2, ALB, VPC, EKS); experience managing infrastructure using Terraform and modules.
- Proven experience setting up and managing Kubernetes clusters, ideally with AWS EKS and Rancher RKE.
- Ability to write scripts in Python, Bash, PowerShell or similar for automation and tooling.
- Proficient in Git and versioned source control practices.
- Support build and deployment processes for both backend (.NET) and frontend (JavaScript/TypeScript, StencilJS) applications, ensuring smooth CI/CD integration and performance monitoring
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills; able to work with Gaming teams and Infra/Ops DevOps engineers.
- Solid understanding of DevOps culture and ITIL best practices. Problem-solving mindset with ability to resolve complex technical issues efficiently.

As a Site Reliability Engineer, your primary objective will be to ensure stability, reliability, and performance of the areas service across our main online casino product.
Our Product Development organisation is truly Global with cross functional teams spanning 6 Tech Hubs – Malta, Budapest, Stockholm, Tallinn, Kyiv and Athens. With nearly 600 strong professionals, the Product Development organisation is spear-headed by our CTO-CPO with all our talented Area Teams working together.
Key Responsibilities:
- Incident & Problem Management: Investigate system incidents, drive Root Cause Analysis (RCAs), and execute long-term remedial fixes. Proactively reduce the number of incidents caused by system changes.
- Observability & Metrics: Define and enforce Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and success metrics for new initiatives. Build and maintain comprehensive dashboards to achieve observability excellence.
- Performance & Capacity: Identify and help resolve performance bottlenecks.Optimize infrastructure and code to maintain fast service, and conduct capacity planning to forecast future hardware or cloud resource requirements.
- Availability & Change Management: Guarantee the Platform components remain highly reachable and functional for users. Oversee deployments to ensure new code does not disrupt the existing system.
What we are looking for:
Supporting and troubleshooting. Using most of the following technologies:
- Observability & Monitoring: Deep experience building dashboards and tracking SLAs/SLOs using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Coralogix, Splunk, or Loki.
- Programming & Automation: Proficiency in scripting and coding to automate manual tasks (eliminate "toil") and build reliability tools. Strong skills in .NET, Python, Powershell or Bash are highly preferred.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Cloud: Experience provisioning and managing infrastructure using Terraform or Ansible, along with a solid understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Containerization & Orchestration: Hands-on experience scaling and managing distributed systems using Kubernetes (K8s) and Docker.
- CI/CD & Change Management: Familiarity with deployment pipelines (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Team City, Octopus) to ensure safe, automated rollouts that don't cause incidents.
- Core Competencies: Strong analytical skills for Root Cause Analysis (RCA), a calm approach to incident response, and the ability to lead blameless post-mortems.
Nice to have:
- AWS Cloud infrastructure, CDNs, and other various systems running in multiple data centres and environments
- Cloud Application Load Balancer, preferably with experience on AWS ALB
- Cloud DNS support such as AWS Route 53, GCP Cloud DNS, or Azure DNS
- Server virtualisation such as VMware, IaaS and PaaS cloud such as AWS and Azure
- Experience with Microsoft SQL databases, PostgreSQL, and Couchbase is considered an asset.

- Define clear request channels and intake Ways of working so HR Shared Services operates as a structured, predictable service rather than reactive or ad hoc.
- Create and maintain HR Process Ways of Working (handbooks, templates, checklists) to ensure consistency across all lifecycle activities.
- Partner with HR Managers globally to ensure alignment on compliance requirements and process execution.
- Work closely with Payroll to ensure accurate and timely transfer of data.
- Act as operational escalation point for HR delivery issues and proactively resolve structural gaps.
- Continuously improve service quality, using data insights, root-cause analysis and feedback loops to drive maturity and scale.
What we are looking for:
- 5–6 years’ experience within an HR Shared Services or HRIS-focused role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Strong background in designing and implementing HR processes, frameworks and ways of working, including documentation, hand-offs and escalation paths.
- Demonstrated experience managing and delivering exceptional HR services at scale across global, high-volume operations.
- Hands-on experience with HRIS systems is a must, ideally using SAGE People.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel.
- Demonstrated ability to drive automation, design workflows and use innovative tools or AI to streamline administrative processes.

What we are looking for:
Supporting and troubleshooting. Using most of the following technologies:
- Observability & Monitoring: Deep experience building dashboards and tracking SLAs/SLOs using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Coralogix, Splunk, or Loki.
- Programming & Automation: Proficiency in scripting and coding to automate manual tasks (eliminate "toil") and build reliability tools. Strong skills in .NET, Python, Powershell or Bash are highly preferred.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Cloud: Experience provisioning and managing infrastructure using Terraform or Ansible, along with a solid understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Containerization & Orchestration: Hands-on experience scaling and managing distributed systems using Kubernetes (K8s) and Docker.

- Perform both manual and automated testing across iOS and Android platforms.

- Investigate, reproduce, and track bugs using Jira or similar tools.
- Develop and maintain automation tests using Appium and Java.
- Validate app interactions with backend services via REST APIs.

Great if you have
- ISTQB or equivalent certification.

What we are looking for

As a Team Lead – Wallet at Betsson Group, you will lead a team of talented engineers responsible for one of the most critical platforms in our ecosystem – the system that securely handles player balances and financial transactions across our global gaming operations.
Wallet platform is one of Betsson’s most critical systems, responsible for maintaining player balances and processing high volumes of real-time financial transactions across multiple regulated markets with strict requirements on correctness, reliability, and consistency.
As a Team Lead, you will play a key role in both technical leadership and people leadership, working hands-on with your team to design, build and evolve one of Betsson’s core platforms.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role, where you will remain closely involved in architecture and engineering decisions while helping your team grow and succeed.
You will join our growing engineering hub in Málaga, collaborating with international teams across Betsson’s global technology organization.
ABOUT THE JOB
Wallet platform is responsible for the secure and reliable handling of player funds across Betsson’s global operations, supporting deposits, withdrawals, bets, winnings, bonuses and adjustments across multiple products and markets. Because the platform handles player balances and financial transactions, correctness, consistency, and auditability are critical design considerations.
As part of this team, you will work on systems that must meet very high standards of:
- Reliability and consistency
- Performance and scalability under high transaction load
- Operational stability
- Cost-efficient cloud operation
Wallet is a transaction-heavy system with a strong relational database core, and engineers are expected to have strong understanding of backend architecture, data consistency, and performance considerations.
You will collaborate closely with Product Managers, Architects, DBAs, and DevOps teams to ensure the platform evolves to meet both business and regulatory needs across multiple jurisdictions.
YOUR DAY-TO-DAY
As a Team Lead and Backend Engineer, you will:
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers, supporting their growth and development
- Take part in recruiting, onboarding and performance reviews
- Work closely with Product Managers and stakeholders to deliver business and regulatory requirements
- Design and develop backend systems that are scalable, reliable and maintainable
- Contribute to architectural decisions and technology evolution of the Wallet platform
- Collaborate with DBAs and DevOps to ensure optimal system performance and operational stability
- Drive improvements in system performance, reliability and cost efficiency
- Help maintain high engineering standards through code reviews and technical discussions
- Help drive adoption of AI-assisted development tools and workflows to improve productivity, code quality, and engineering practices
Our teams are cross-functional, and engineers collaborate closely across disciplines to deliver high-quality systems.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- 5+ years of experience in software development
- Experience leading or mentoring teams of software engineers
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Experience working in Agile development environments
- Excellent knowledge of C# and .NET
- Experience designing scalable backend systems
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and data consistency
- Solid understanding of relational databases, transaction processing, and query performance
Nice to have:
- Experience working with high-throughput transactional systems
- Experience with cloud-native architectures
- Experience in financial, payments, or high-reliability platforms
- Interest in modern developer tooling, including AI-assisted software development
