We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer (GoLang) with deep Go expertise to join the Gateways team. This is a hands-on individual contributor role with expectations to own subsystems end-to-end and drive technical direction in your area of ownership.

The Gateways team owns Workato's API management, gateway, and routing infrastructure — the layer that sits between external consumers and the platform's core services. Our scope includes the classic API Management (APIM) product, an AI Gateway for LLM traffic management, and an MCP Gateway for Model Context Protocol integration. What you’ll do

• Own technical leadership for critical money flows across settlement models, reconciliation pipelines, and accounting/ledger interfaces - taking initiatives from problem framing through delivery and long-term operation.
• Design and build robust, scalable systems in production, improving reliability, performance, and operability of the settlement platform.

• Partner cross-functionally with Product, Finance, Data, Risk/Compliance, Operations, and Account Management to translate business and regulatory needs into pragmatic technical solutions.
• Improve platform boundaries and developer velocity by simplifying interfaces, reducing coupling, and clarifying domain ownership - making the system easier to evolve safely.
• Raise the engineering bar through strong practices in observability, testing strategy, documentation, and operational playbooks.
• Mentor and multiply impact via coaching, code reviews, knowledge sharing, and enabling teams to make high-quality decisions without becoming dependent on you.

Who you are

• You have at least 10-12 years of extensive industry experience in Software Engineering, including hands-on experience in system design, architecture, and development with technologies such as Java, Postgres, Kafka, RabbitMQ, and Redis.

We are looking for a Graduate Software Engineer to join our Backend team. This role is designed for recent graduates or final-year students who want to start their professional career in software engineering and grow fast in a real production environment. This is not an internship.
