Role Overview:
CHAOS is seeking a highly-skilled and motivated DevSecOps/Platform Engineer to join our team supporting our R&D and product engineering initially focusing on our next-generation Command and Control (C2) and radar products. This is a highly collaborative role which will allow you to work on multiple capabilities within our product offerings. As a member of our engineering team, you also have the opportunity to expand your skillset across our product families.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and orchestrate containerized Python package applications using Docker (Swarm and/or Compose) and Kubernetes
- Collaborate with development teams to optimize application deployment and performance
- Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) principles
- Monitor and troubleshoot platform issues, ensuring high availability and performance
- Develop and maintain documentation for our infrastructure and processes
- Contribute to the overall improvement of our DevOps practices
- Work full-time on-site in our office in Los Angeles (Hawthorne), California
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or higher Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related degree
- 5+ years of proven experience in a DevOps/Platform Engineering role
- Strong understanding of CI/CD principles and practices
- Hands-on experience with Jenkins, Artifactory, and other CI/CD tools
- Proficiency with containerization and technologies (Docker Swarm and/or Compose, Podman) and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes)
- Experience with Azure cloud platform and on-premise infrastructure deployment strategies
- Solid understanding of cloud deployment best practices
- Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools
- Strong background in Linux, containerization and virtualization with a GPU accelerated runtime
- Excellent scripting skills (e.g., Bash, Python, Groovy)
- Understands the software development life cycle and the various related tools such as VCS (Git, SVN), their servers (GitHub, BitBucket), project management (Jira, Confluence, GitHub Projects)
- U.S. Person status is required as this position will require the ability to access U.S.-only data systems
- Experience creating from scratch infrastructure of CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Bitbucket Pipelines, Azure DevOps)
- Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, or Chef)
- Knowledge of monitoring and logging systems (e.g., Grafana, ELK stack)
- Experience with database administration
- Familiarity with Agile (Scrum) methodologies
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience with DoD & related System/SW Architectures and messaging standards (e.g. OMS, SOSA, Link-16, etc)
- Experience designing & implementing tracking and track fusion algorithms
- Development experience in Ground or Airborne Sensors (Radars, EO/IR, EW, etc.)
- Experience with Networks (software and hardware)
- Experience with advanced Time Synchronization technologies beyond NTP
- Experience with git
- Experience with Containers (e.g. Docker, Podman, etc.)
- Familiarity with cloud computing and virtualization technologies (e.g. WSL, KVM, Hyper-V, VMware)
- Experience with Modeling & Simulation, including hardware-in-the-loop and software-in-the-loop testbeds (e.g. DIS, VR-Forces, AFSIM)
- Experience with production-level SW development & deployment, including DevOps, DevSecOps, and/or Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) using modern FOSS/COTS toolsets.
- Experience with full lifecycle SW development of high-TRL systems
- Experience with HW/SW I&T and V&V of high-TRL systems

The Role
The software team at K2 builds software across the stack, from gateware & micro firmware to high level satellite control to Ground Software and all the associated testing, and we’re looking for an SDET who shares our belief that test infrastructure is a first-class engineering discipline. You will be embedded directly within the flight software team, working shoulder-to-shoulder with the engineers writing the code that flies our spacecraft owning the automation frameworks, test tooling, and HIL infrastructure that make rapid, confident software deployment possible.
This role is not a QA function. You will be a builder. In your first 6 months, you will design and ship core test automation frameworks and integrate them into our CI/CD pipelines. In your first year, you will own end-to-end test coverage across multiple spacecraft subsystems and lead HIL testing campaigns alongside flight software engineers, proving the software is ready to go to space. In your first two years, you will have operated your test systems against hardware that has been launched to orbit.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and own software test frameworks targeting K2’s flight software stack, including subsystems for propulsion, GNC, power, thermal, and communications
- Build and maintain automation tooling that integrates seamlessly into CI/CD pipelines, enabling fast and reliable flight software deployment
- Develop hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and software-in-the-loop (SIL) test infrastructure in close collaboration with flight software engineers
- Create tooling for test execution, data collection, and anomaly triage that gives engineers clear, actionable signal
- Reduce flaky and nondeterministic tests; continuously improve coverage, pipeline reliability, and test execution speed
- Collaborate with flight software, avionics, and systems engineers to define test requirements, write test plans, and execute verification campaigns
- Analyze test results to identify and characterize failures, and drive resolution across the team
- Maintain documentation for test infrastructure, procedures, and hardware configurations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related STEM field, or equivalent professional experience
- Experience building and maintaining test automation frameworks, not just executing tests written by others
- Experience with CI/CD systems (e.g., GitLab Pipelines, GitHub Actions, Jenkins) and version control (Git)
Nice to Have
- Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testbeds or embedded systems testing
- Experience testing avionics, spacecraft, robotics, autonomous vehicles, or other safety-critical hardware
- Rust programming experience, including embedded or no_std environments
- Knowledge of real-time operating systems (RTOS) or bare-metal embedded firmware
- Familiarity with aerospace communication protocols (RS-422/485, Ethernet, UART, SpaceWire, Ethernet)
- Experience with electronics test equipment: oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies
- Containerization experience (Docker, Kubernetes) for test environment management
- Experience with Embedded Linux
- Familiarity with shell scripting
Compensation and Benefits:
- Base salary range for this role is $123,000 - $175,000 + equity in the company

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, mathematics or a STEM discipline or 1-3+ years of professional experience in software engineering.
- 1+ years of experience in full stack development, platform engineering or API development.
- 1+ years of experience with AWS.
- 1+ years of in-depth working experience with CI/CD such as GH Actions, Jenkins, Gitlab CI/CD.
- 1+ years of in-depth working experience with Git.
- 1+ years of in-depth working experience with Docker.
- 1+ years of in-depth working experience with Kubernetes (prefer AWS EKS).
- Working experience with one or more of the following static typed programming languages such as C#.NET, Go, Java.
- 1+ years of experience with structured database such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Snowflake or similar technologies
- 1+ years of experience with unstructured database such as NoSQL, Amazon DynamoDB, MongoDB or similar.

The SRE Incident Response team is responsible for handling critical application\infrastructure alerts, orchestrating the war room process and enabling first class observability and alerting systems.

THE OPPORTUNITY
Silvus is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior R&D Software Engineer to join our Research & Development team. In this pivotal role, you will report to the Senior Director of R&D, Electronic Warfare and lead the software design and implementation for next-generation Networked Electronic Warfare (EW) systems.
The successful individual in this role will bridge the gap between complex embedded real-time processing and distributed network architectures, developing robust software that coordinates sensing and effects across multiple platforms. This position requires a strong foundation in modern software engineering practices, including DevOps and CI/CD, and the ability to collaborate effectively within multi-organizational engineering teams to deliver mission-critical capabilities.
This position is eligible for 100% remote work depending on location.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Software Architecture & Development: Design, develop, and optimize high-performance embedded software for networked EW applications, ranging from low-level driver integration to high-level application logic.
- DevOps & CI/CD Implementation: Architect and maintain modern CI/CD pipelines to automate testing, integration, and deployment, ensuring high code quality and rapid iteration cycles.
- System Integration: Collaborate with hardware, RF, and systems engineers to integrate software with complex RF subsystems, validating performance in both lab and field environments.
- Cross-Organizational Collaboration: Act as a key technical liaison for multi-organizational projects, coordinating API definitions, interface control documents (ICDs), and integration strategies with external partners and government stakeholders.
- Algorithm Implementation: Translate signal processing and networking algorithms into efficient, real-time C/C++ code suitable for resource-constrained embedded targets.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
