ABOUT THE ROLE
Disguise is seeking a Senior Full-Stack Developer to join our growing Cloud Services team — a fast-moving group building the next generation of Disguise Cloud products.
You’ll play a key role in designing and delivering powerful cloud-based tools that integrate tightly with Disguise’s ecosystem, supporting some of the world’s most ambitious live events and immersive experiences.
We’re looking for someone who can hit the ground running — a confident engineer with deep backend experience (Django, Laravel, and/or Rails), strong frontend expertise in Vue, and experience building interactive 3D applications using Three.js.
If you enjoy solving complex problems, building production-grade systems, and collaborating across disciplines, this role is for you.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Lead development of a cutting-edge 3D modelling and editing tool built with Three.js, used to simulate and analyze immersive visual experiences for global live events.
- Architect and build scalable APIs and backend services across multiple platforms and technologies.
- Design robust, high-performance database solutions with strong optimisation practices.
- Develop and maintain Vue-based UI controls and components that expose powerful features to end users.
- Collaborate closely with other engineering teams across the organisation to integrate systems and share expertise.
- Conduct thoughtful code reviews and maintain high standards for quality and reliability.
- Support customer-facing teams by troubleshooting issues and responding to internal and external support requests.
- Assist with debugging, performance tuning, and production deployments.
- Break down large features into manageable, well-scoped tasks and drive them to completion.
ABOUT YOU
You’re a senior-level engineer who combines strong technical depth with product curiosity and ownership.
Required Skills & Experience
- Extensive professional software development experience
- Strong expertise with Three.js
- Strong backend expertise in Django and/or Laravel
- Strong frontend expertise in Vue
- Experience in leading product/feature development in a technical team and gathering feature requirements
- Deep understanding of REST APIs (public and private), including OpenAPI specifications and documentation
- Proficiency with Git (branching, pull requests, code reviews)
- Experience using tools like JIRA, GitHub, ProductBoard, or similar
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English required; collaboration with UK and Canadian teams)
- Experience integrating AI workflows into daily development practices without compromising engineering standards

- Tailwind CSS experience and a strong eye for design and UX

The Role
We're looking for a Software Engineer skilled in PHP and familiar with Python, ready to make a real impact. You’ll split your time between maintaining and improving our existing PHP/Laravel codebases - powering products like our website, Life Insurance offering, and internal tools - and contributing to newer Python-based projects as our tech stack evolves.
You’ll code across the full stack, shipping real improvements that users notice, keeping our platforms healthy, secure, and performant. You’ll own the backlog of impactful changes that elevate our products and delight users, while also growing into Python projects and expanding your skillset.
This is a role full of variety and opportunity - every week brings new challenges, and your work will directly impact our customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve existing PHP/Laravel applications - bug fixes, enhancements, performance improvements, and application-level security.
- Build and contribute to Python projects - new services, internal tooling, and integrations as our tech stack evolves.
- Support platform security and compliance initiatives - pen testing remediation, dependency updates, and infrastructure hardening.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues - investigate bugs, diagnose root causes, and ship fixes confidently.
- Collaborate with the wider engineering team - participate in code reviews, sprint ceremonies, and contribute to engineering standards and best practices.
- Own small-to-medium projects end-to-end, delivering meaningful improvements across our tools and products.
Who Are You?
- Strong experience with PHP, ideally within the Laravel framework.
- Comfortable working with Python - whether in scripting, APIs, data processing, or frameworks like Django or FastAPI.
- Solid understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL) and writing efficient queries.
- Experienced with version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows.
- Able to work independently, prioritise effectively, and ship reliably.
- Clear communicator who can explain technical decisions to non-technical stakeholder
Bonus points
- Understanding of event-driven architectures and messaging systems.
- Experience with front-end technologies (JavaScript/TypeScript, Vue or React).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment processes.
- Interest in or experience with AI/LLM integration.
