About the job: The surgery department at Las Vegas Veterinary & Specialty Center is comprised of board certified surgeons along with advanced diagnostic tools such as MRI, CT, Endoscopy, Ultrasound. Because we are a referral hospital, we see a lot of unique and challenging cases. We are looking for technicians who are flexible, adaptable, driven and who have an interest in advancing their anesthesia skills, surgical knowledge, and patient care.

• Rotating on-call 6:00pm - 6:00am.  Just for being on-call, you will be paid an additional $25 for weekdays and $50 for a weekend - whether you come in for not. 
• If you come in for an on-call shift, you will be paid an additional $100 on top of your hourly rate.  Eligible for overtime.

• Day shift $25.00 - $30.00/hr
• Overnight shift $29.00 - $34.00/hr (this range includes the $4.00/hr overnight differential)

As an Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician, you’re part of a team that thrives on the front lines of emergency veterinary care where every second counts. You’ll handle a wide range of cases, from minor to complex emergencies, collaborating with our doctors and team in delivering gold standard, emotionally intelligent care. You’ll jump into triage, treatments, diagnostics, anesthesia, monitoring, and critical care nursing, all while being a steady, compassionate presence for pet parents in their most stressful moments. • Credentialed as a Veterinary Technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) in the state the VEG practice is located is required; VTS in ECC, internal medicine or anesthesia/analgesia is a plus and will lead to extra considerations in compensation
• 1+ years of experience in a veterinary technician role; experience in emergency or specialty medicine preferred
• Basic computer skills and a comprehension of practice management software and electronic medical record keeping
• Excellent communicator and calm under pressure; ready to lend a hand to support those around you
• Fine motor skills for handling patients and medical equipment
• Ability to stand for prolonged hours, kneel, and work on the floor as well as ability to lift up to 25 kg on own and able to support up to 40 kg with assistance

THE JOB

As a Nursing Trainer, you have one of the most meaningful jobs at VEG: helping others grow. You’ll lead with curiosity, coach with compassion, and obsess over development. You’re not just building skills—you’re building confidence, momentum, and careers in emergency medicine. Whether you’re working 1:1 on the floor, guiding peer-led sessions, or developing educational tools, your impact will be felt hospital-wide. You’ll tailor training to every learning style, celebrate every milestone, and say yes to every VEGgie who is ready to take the next step. WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Partner with leadership to identify individual and team training needs
• Assess assistants and credentialed technicians through direct observation and real-time immersion
• Drive advancement through VEG’s Cultivate program
• Implement VEG training programs and serve as the go-to training lead at your hospital
• Split your time between on-the-floor mentoring and strategic development
• Provide tailored, hands-on training for all learning styles and skill levels with patience and understanding
• Organize peer training opportunities and build a strong mentoring culture
• Collaborate with nursing managers and professional networks to broaden impact
• Develop and refine training content (i.e. presentations, videos, simulations, and assessments)
• Ensure all training aligns with VEG’s culture, mission, and emergency standards of care
• Continually evaluate and improve leveling programs for assistants and technicians

WHAT YOU NEED

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree or higher in veterinary technology from an AVMA accredited program strongly preferred
• Credentialed as a veterinary technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) in the state the VEG practice is located; VTS in ECC, internal medicine, or anesthesia/analgesia a plus and will lead to extra considerations in compensation
• High level of knowledge and skill in emergency medicine 
• Previous training experience preferred
• A relentless passion for teaching and uplifting others
• An ownership mindset around your team’s growth and development
• Strong communicator and collaborator across teams
• Excitement about VEG’s culture and mission, with a desire to lead by example
• Willingness to travel to other VEG hospitals in your region to help with new veterinarian onboarding as needed
• Must be willing to work in a noisy environment with strong or unpleasant odors.
• Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as needed basis based on hospital needs

THE PROGRAM

At VEG we find a way to say yes to helping future veterinary technicians grow into their potential. Our Veterinary Technician Student Externship Program offers a hands-on, immersive experience in emergency medicine alongside our credentialed emergency veterinary technicians.

You won’t just observe—you’ll engage. You’ll get close to the action, ask questions, try new techniques, and explore everything that excites you about life in the ER. From patient triage to diagnostics to inpatient care, you'll gain exposure to what emergency medicine is really like—and explore whether it’s the future you want to chase. This is your chance to build a strong foundation, get inspired, and be a part of something bigger.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Learn from the top emergency veterinary professionals in the business.
• Pair up with an emergency credentialed veterinary technician for real-time mentoring and on-the-floor learning
• Shadow and assist with triage, outpatient visits, diagnostics, anesthesia, inpatient care, and more
• Practice skills required by your school’s proficiency checklist with mentorship and guidance
• Experience the teamwork, pace, and heart that defines emergency care at VEG
• Explore whether or not being an ER superhero is what you want to do next

WHAT YOU NEED

• Currently enrolled in an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology or nursing program, or a program actively seeking accreditation; this program is only for students, not future veterinarians or veterinary assistants
• Enrolled in a course that requires externship hours or skills
• Able to start the program within six months of application
• Current rabies vaccination or titer required 
• Ability to stand for prolonged hours, kneel, and work on the floor as well as ability to lift up to 25 kg on own and able to support up to 40 kg with assistance
• Must be willing to work in a noisy environment with strong or unpleasant odors
• Work well in a fast-paced environment with people from all backgrounds and different personality types
