About the Role

We have reached an inflection point where we need to take our data game to the next level. Instead of just providing data to our various departments, we need to start bringing to bear more sophisticated techniques to unlock the potential of our significant data sets. While we collect hundreds of thousands of data points every day from each of our programmes – from the time each teacher spends on each page of every lesson to every pupil’s answer to every question of every assessment – we are yet to fully realise the potential energy of these data sets. 

On a technical level, this shift means moving beyond traditional approaches to data engineering, replacing ETL batch processing and data warehousing with event-driven real-time data pipelines and a distributed data mesh; on an organisational level, it means reimagining business intelligence as a skill set embedded in our cross-functional delivery teams, not as a separate team with separate priorities and timelines. And it also means transforming the ways that we expose the data to our users, providing richer, more actionable interfaces.

The Senior Engineer will help to lead the charge on this transformation, bringing experience to bear, both on the systems themselves, as well as mentoring and developing other team members.

This role reports to the Business Intelligence Lead, but will routinely be embedded in cross-functional delivery teams, working collaboratively to deliver our next generation data products.

What You Will Do 

• Build next generation event-driven data processing pipelines that cleanse, enrich, and aggregate a range of different data sets as part of a globally distributed and cross-functional software development organisation
• Deploy these data pipelines in line with continuous delivery practices and principles
• Improve the scalability, stability, accuracy, and efficiency of our existing data platform - it’s not all just green field!
• Develop and mentor other members of the business intelligence department
• Monitor our data platforms in order to identify and resolve issues and ensure high-availability of data insights
• Communicate with stakeholders to develop requirements, implement solutions, and collaborate on rollouts

What You Should Have

• 5+ years of enterprise work experience in business intelligence, data engineering, and advanced analytics
• 2+ years of commercial, enterprise experience building data pipelines using Apache Spark and Python (future platform). Familiarity using these tools to consume data from RabbitMQ or Kafka is a plus.
• Experience with one or more types of NoSQL databases and data lakes
• Comfort with version control and continuous delivery
• Familiarity with relational databases, ETL, and reporting tools. Preference for Microsoft technologies (we currently use Microsoft SQL Server 2016/2019, SSIS, and SSRS)
• Fluency with warehouse design and dimension modelling (star schemas, snowflakes, etc)
• Experience or interest in results-driven, lean/agile environments
• Basic DBA skills
• Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment

About the Role

The Head of POS Hardware & Repair is a strategic technical leadership role focused on ensuring the quality, reliability, and serviceability of all Point of Sale (POS) hardware devices used by the company. This individual acts as the primary technical liaison with POS manufacturers, driving design and component selection to meet rigorous company standards and optimize for easy, cost-effective repair in the Nigerian market. This role directly manages and oversees all POS device repair operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. POS Hardware Quality Assurance & Design Strategy

• Manufacturer Liaison: Serve as the main technical point of contact with all POS hardware manufacturers.
• Design Adherence & Vetting: Rigorously review and audit manufacturer design specifications and component lists to ensure strict adherence to the company's recommended designs, quality standards, and use of robust, reliable components.
• Design for Serviceability (DFS): Proactively recommend specific design updates, modifications, and material changes to manufacturers that simplify repair processes, reduce component costs, and improve the Mean Time to Repair (MTTR).
• Component Reliability: Evaluate and approve critical hardware components (e.g., batteries, screens, printers) based on reliability data, failure rates, and long-term supply stability.
• Failure Analysis: Partner with Engineering/Data teams to conduct root cause analysis (RCA) on recurring hardware failures and translate these findings into concrete, mandatory design improvements for manufacturers.

2. Local Market Adaptation & Relevance (Nigeria Focus)

• Market Insight: Maintain deep, continuous awareness of the operational reality, environmental conditions, and logistical challenges specific to the Nigerian market.
• Design Recommendation: Translate local environmental and usage data (e.g., power fluctuations, dust, handling) into practical design requirements (e.g., ruggedization, better component protection) for manufacturers.
• Spare Part Management: Define and validate the list of required spare parts that must be provided by the manufacturer, ensuring they are the most critical and highest-failure-rate components suitable for the local repair environment.

3. POS Repair Operations Oversight

• Repair Strategy: Define the strategy and operational model for all POS device repair operations, including internal repair centers and outsourced service providers.
• Performance Management: Manage and monitor the performance of the repair function against key metrics, focusing intensely on reducing Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) and improving the First-Time Fix Rate.
• Process Standardization: Develop and enforce standardized repair procedures, diagnostics, and quality control (QC) protocols to ensure consistent, high-quality repair outputs across all channels.
• Tooling & Training: Approve and oversee the technical training and certification of all repair technicians and ensure they have the necessary diagnostic equipment and tools.
• Repair Data Reporting: Establish a robust reporting structure for tracking component failure rates, repair costs, and inventory of parts used in repair to inform future design changes.

Qualifications and Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related technical field.
• Experience: Minimum of 8+ years of experience in hardware engineering, quality control, technical operations, or product service management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Technical Expertise: Deep, hands-on knowledge of embedded systems, circuit board components, electronic repair methodologies, and diagnostic tools, particularly within the POS, terminal, or embedded payment device space.
• Manufacturer Management: Proven track record of successfully managing technical relationships with international hardware manufacturers, including design review and quality auditing processes.

Job Summary

The Lead, Corporate Credit Risk Management is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing our credit risk framework to ensure sustainable portfolio growth, asset quality preservation, and regulatory compliance. The role oversees end-to-end credit risk management across retail, SME, and digital lending products and acts in the capacity of Head of Credit Risk, providing strategic direction, oversight, and independent challenge to business units.

Key Responsibilities

Credit Risk Strategy & Governance

• Develop and implement the Bank’s Credit Risk Strategy in line with Moniepoint’s risk appetite, business objectives, and CBN Prudential Guidelines.
• Provide leadership oversight of credit risk management 
• Ensure credit risk considerations are embedded in product design, pricing, underwriting, and portfolio growth strategies.
• Serve as a key advisor to Executive Management and the Board on credit risk exposures, trends, and emerging risks.
• Support the Board Finance, Audit and Risk Committee (FARCo) with regular credit risk reports and insights.
• Stay abreast of fintech and digital lending trends impacting credit risk management.

Credit Policy & Underwriting Framework

• Develop, review, and maintain the Bank’s Credit Risk Policies, underwriting standards, and approval authorities.
• Ensure all lending activities comply with approved credit policies, regulatory requirements, and internal risk standards.
• Oversee credit scoring models, decision engines, and manual underwriting processes for digital and non-digital loans.

• Monitor credit portfolio performance across products, channels, and customer segments.
• Track key portfolio metrics including delinquency ratios, non-performing loans (NPLs), roll rates, vintage analysis, and write-offs.
• Identify early warning signals and emerging credit risks, recommending timely corrective actions.
• Oversee remedial management strategies, restructuring, recoveries, and collections escalation frameworks.
• Ensure adequacy of loan loss provisioning in line with regulatory and accounting standards.

Credit Risk Analytics & Reporting

• Develop robust credit risk dashboards and management information systems (MIS).
• Provide accurate and timely credit risk reports to:
  • Chief Risk Officer
  • Executive Management
  • Board Finance, Audit and Risk Committee (FARCo)
• Perform stress testing and scenario analysis on the loan portfolio.
• Support regulatory reporting and supervisory examinations relating to credit risk.

Regulatory Compliance & Stakeholder Engagement

• Ensure full compliance with:
  • CBN Prudential Guidelines for MFBs
  • IFRS 9 (where applicable)
  • Consumer protection and fair lending requirements
• Act as a key liaison with Internal Audit, External Auditors, Regulators, and Credit Bureaus on credit risk matters.
• Support regulatory examinations, audits, and implementation of audit recommendations.

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Lead and develop the Credit Risk team, ensuring clear roles, accountability, and performance management.
• Partner closely with Product, Operations, Collections, Finance, IT, and Business teams to ensure balanced risk-return outcomes.
• Provide guidance and training on credit risk principles, policy compliance, and risk ownership across the organization.
• Foster a strong credit risk culture focused on discipline, data-driven decisions, and sustainability.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field
• Master’s degree (MBA, MSc) is an advantage

Professional Certifications (Preferred)

Experience

Technical Financial Crime Manager

About Paystack

Over the past nine years, Paystack has established itself as a pioneer in African fintech with a mission to help merchants get paid by anyone, anywhere in the world. Processing over $300 million in monthly transactions, our modern payments infrastructure supports tens of thousands of notable corporations, including MTN, Bolt, and Domino’s Pizza.

As we enter a phase of accelerated growth, we are seeking a Technical Financial Crime Manager to own, design, and scale our fraud and AML detection capabilities. This role sits at the intersection of data, engineering, and financial crime operations, with end-to-end accountability for ensuring our monitoring systems are technically robust, domain-accurate, and scalable across multiple markets.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role. You will define detection logic, guide system design, and directly influence how financial crime risk is identified and managed at Paystack, while also leading and developing high-performing fraud and AML teams.

What You’ll Do

As the Technical Financial Crime Manager, you will run the day-to-day fraud and AML detection stack; from data and rules to operational outcomes. You will combine deep technical expertise with financial crime domain knowledge to design effective monitoring systems, manage domain specialists, and ensure Paystack remains a safe, trusted payments platform.

You will be accountable for:

• The technical quality and effectiveness of fraud & AML monitoring logic
• The operating model and performance of Financial Crime Monitoring teams

Translating risk, regulatory, and business requirements into scalable detection systems

Key Responsibilities

Technical Ownership of Detection & Monitoring

• Define, build, test, and optimise fraud and AML detection rules, scenarios, thresholds, and models used in production systems.
• Translate complex datasets and domain insights into actionable detection logic embedded in monitoring and alerting platforms.
• Establish feedback loops between investigation outcomes and detection logic to continuously improve signal quality.
• Measure and manage detection performance using quantitative metrics (precision, recall, false positives, alert-to-case conversion, loss metrics).

Maintain structured, auditable documentation of rules, logic, assumptions, and changes.

Data Analysis, Modelling & Insights

• Analyse large, complex transactional and behavioural datasets to identify emerging fraud and AML risks across markets.
• Design and implement statistical models, machine learning approaches, and/or time-series analysis to enhance detection capabilities.
• Build and own dashboards and reporting frameworks tracking KPIs, SLAs, alert quality, investigator productivity, and risk outcomes.

Conduct trend analysis, root cause analysis, and deep dives on losses, typologies, and control gaps.

Financial Crime Oversight

• Own the end-to-end fraud and AML detection domain, ensuring alignment between prevention, detection, investigation, and remediation.
• Apply deep understanding of fraud typologies, AML/CTF risks, sanctions, and regulatory expectations to detection design.
• Manage the Fraud and AML operational teams (specialists and first-line managers) to ensure adequate coverage, capability and day-to-day execution. 
• Translate regulatory, partner, and audit requirements into scalable technical and operational controls.
• Stay ahead of evolving financial crime patterns, market-specific risks, and regulatory developments across Paystack’s footprint.

Tooling, Automation & Scale

• Partner with Product and Engineering to embed detection logic into core systems and improve monitoring, alerting, and case management tooling.
• Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual effort, improve consistency, and enable scale without compromising control quality.
• Identify and prioritise enhancements to monitoring platforms, workflows, and data pipelines.
• Ensure fraud and AML tooling evolves in line with transaction growth, new products, and new markets.

Operational Excellence

• Build and continuously improve operational processes, SLAs, KPIs, and quality frameworks across Fraud and AML teams.
• Use data and metrics to manage performance, capacity, and outcomes, ensuring teams operate efficiently and effectively.
• Identify gaps, risks, and inefficiencies, leading initiatives to strengthen controls and scale operations sustainably.
• Balance speed, quality, regulatory expectations, and customer experience in day-to-day decision-making.

Cross-Functional & Executive Collaboration

• Work closely with Product, Engineering, Data, Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Customer Operations. 
• Influence roadmap priorities related to fraud, AML, and financial crime tooling.
• Provide clear updates to senior stakeholders on operational performance, risks, and emerging issues

Support audits, partner reviews, and regulatory engagements as a subject matter expert.

Who We’re Looking For

Required 

• 7+ years in financial crime roles in payments, fintech, banking, or financial services.
• Strong technical expertise in data analysis, including advanced SQL and experience working with large, complex datasets.
• Expert Python skills, including experience with libraries such as pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, statsmodels, and/or model pipelines.
• Proven experience designing, building, and tuning risk detection systems (fraud, AML, or similar).
• Solid understanding of statistical modelling, machine learning, and/or time-series forecasting, with experience deploying models into production or operational workflows.
• Ability to translate data insights into operational detection logic used by investigators and automated systems.
• Experience measuring and optimising detection performance using quantitative metrics.

Strong systems thinking: able to design scalable, maintainable monitoring frameworks rather than one-off rules.

• Deep understanding of financial crime typologies, fraud patterns, AML/CTF requirements, and regulatory obligations.
• Experience operating within fraud, AML, risk, or compliance functions in payments, fintech, or financial services.
• Proven experience leading and developing teams, including setting direction, coaching, and performance management.
• Ability to balance technical depth with practical operational decision-making.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

High ownership mindset and comfort operating in ambiguous, high-growth environments.

Preferred

• Experience with dbt and modern analytics stacks.
• Experience with version control systems (GitHub).
• Experience with AI-assisted tooling or advanced analytics platforms.
• Familiarity with monitoring platforms, alerting systems, transaction screening, and case management tools.

• Industry certifications such as ACAMS, ICA, CFE, CFCS, or similar.
