About this role

The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Associate for Rapid Experimentation will support the execution and analysis of A/B tests across GiveDirectly’s programs, contributing to the use of data to inform program and product decisions. This role is fast-paced and iterative - the team runs frequent, lightweight experiments designed to generate actionable answers quickly, and then uses those learnings to refine and improve programs in real time. This includes:

• Supporting the execution and analysis of rapid A/B tests across GiveDirectly projects, ensuring that experiments are implemented effectively and contribute to learning within and across projects
• Ensuring experiments are implemented correctly, measured reliably, and analyzed to produce clear and credible results, working closely with Programs, Product, Research teams, and external academic partners to align experimental design with program delivery, data collection, and operational realities
• Translating findings into actionable insights and well-structured learning products that serve multiple audiences - internal program and product teams, and external academic partners, ensuring results inform both immediate decisions and longer-term program direction

In practice, this role is about managing a high volume of rapid experiments and turning results into clear, credible evidence that continuously shapes how GiveDirectly’s programs are refined and improved.

Travel Requirement: This role is based in Rwanda. Travel within East Africa is a regular part of the role, estimated at up to 25% of the time, to support field operations across country programs.Additional international travel may occur for trainings or team convenings, as needed (estimated up to 10%)

What you’ll do:

Execute and manage A/B tests across programs

• Conduct power calculations to ensure experiments are both statistically rigorous and feasible to implement within program constraints
• Set up pre-specified experimental designs, applying defined experimental groups, outcome measures, and measurement timelines
• Review experiment setups prior to launch and flag execution and measurement risks that may affect interpretability
• Ensure experiments are well-coordinated and executed as designed, aligning implementation with research plans and integrating smoothly into program delivery across Programs and Product teams
• Work at a fast pace across a portfolio of 2–3 live A/B tests at any given time, designed to generate actionable answers quickly and feed rapid iteration of programs and products

Ensure accurate measurement and high-quality data for experiments

• Collaborate with external Principal Investigators (PIs) to ensure measurement approaches and data collection are aligned with research design and implementation realities
• Ensure experimental outcomes are captured accurately and consistently by applying established indicator and measurement approaches
• Prepare and manage datasets that are clean, well-structured, and ready for analysis using survey, administrative, and product data
• Identify and flag data quality risks (e.g., missingness, inconsistencies, measurement error) that could affect the validity of experimental conclusions
• Conduct targeted literature reviews to ensure measurement approaches are grounded in evidence and aligned with best practices

Analyze experimental data and interpret results to inform decisions

• Generate reliable and decision-ready analyses of experimental data from A/B tests
• Assess the magnitude and direction of effects and highlight what the results do and do not suggest, noting key limitations
• Ensure results are clearly understood and appropriately interpreted, given data quality, sample size, and implementation considerations

Translate results into actionable insights and learning across experiments

• Translate experimental results into clear, actionable recommendations to guide program and product decisions for individual country programs, and for the direction of GiveDirectly’s programming as a whole
• Structure results and key learnings so they can be reused to inform future experiments and program design
• Prepare concise learning products (e.g., memos, summaries) that serve multiple audiences, including internal Programs and Product teams, and external academic partners, ensuring findings are clearly communicated for both technical and non-technical stakeholders 
• Prepare and clean de-identified datasets for sharing with external PIs and academic partners, ensuring data is structured, well-documented, and ready for independent analysis
• Contribute to cross-country discussions to ensure learnings from experiments are shared and applied across contexts, and maintain clear documentation so experiments are easy to track, understand, and build on over time

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Economics, Statistics, Public Policy, or a related quantitative field
• 2–4 years of experience working with data in applied settings (e.g., experimentation, evaluation, analytics, or program learning), ideally in development, tech, or operations-focused roles
• Solid understanding of experimental design and causal inference concepts (e.g., randomization, treatment/control groups, units of randomization, statistical power, bias) and how to apply them in real-world program contexts
• Experience using R, Python, or Stata to clean, manipulate, and analyze data, including working with multiple data sources (e.g., survey or administrative data)
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (e.g., programs/operations, product, or research) and external partners to implement projects and solve problems
• Fluency in English required
• Comfort working at pace - able to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously, make progress with imperfect data, and iterate quickly based on emerging findings
• Ability to interpret results beyond statistical significance and communicate clear, actionable insights to both technical and non-technical audiences

• Base Salary: $42,000

About the Role

The Global Data Analyst Intern will use large, diverse, cross-country datasets to build foundational data products that enable better decision-making across the organization. This role will focus on creating high-quality dashboards and reports that are trusted, scalable, and widely used — in service of our mission: bigger harvests, healthier families, and richer soil for smallholder farmers.

Responsibilities

Build Foundational BI Data Products

• Design, build, and maintain high-impact operational reports (to run day-to-day work) and dashboards (for oversight/KPI purposes), to enable analytics across functions.
• Ensure dashboards and reports are accurate, well-documented, and built for long-term sustainability.
• Monitor adoption and continuously improve usability and relevance. This role is less focused on one-off data projects and more focused on building durable tools that people consistently use and trust.

Managing Tech Service Desk Day-to-Day Operations:

• Oversee the daily operations of the tech service desk, ensuring high-quality service and efficient problem resolution.
• Ensure timely escalation and resolution of issues, acting as the first point of contact for critical service desk matters.
• Manage service desk workflows, track performance, and ensure proper follow-up on all service requests.

Own department Analytical Domains and Partner with Data Engineering

• Serve as the primary analyst for the department.
• Deeply understand business processes and logic within the department.
• Own the full delivery of dashboards and data analytics products: make prioritization decisions, understand user needs, wireframe and design outputs, and own delivery and iteration.
• Partner closely with Data Engineers to ensure business rules are embedded in the warehouse and semantic layer.

About the Role

From R&D to sales to strategy to operations, the Global R&D Data Analyst has the unique opportunity to improve decision-making across all aspects of One Acre Fund’s program using many diverse data types, such as sales, yield, demographic and satellite data, to help us reach more farmers with greater impact. 

The Global R&D Data Analyst will help us reach over one million farmers by executing analyses for strategic decision-making on repayment, expansion, and other business functions, and work directly with program leaders to interpret results and make data-driven decisions. The Global R&D Data Analyst will play an integral role in shaping One Acre Fund’s data strategy, including dreaming up and executing new ways to use our data to improve our program.

Additionally, One Acre Fund has a robust agronomic and socioeconomic research program spanning all countries of operation. This role will work closely with country R&D teams to ensure all trials are executed at the highest possible standards, provide follow-up analytical support and training to team members, and support with warehousing of our agronomic data to make our research outputs accessible to external collaborators, further increasing One Acre Fund’s smallholder farmer impact across the continent.

To succeed in this role, you will need to be a strong communicator and have a solid analytical background with experience in experimental design. You will need to be comfortable interpreting ambiguous results generated with imperfect data and advising leaders on the relative risk associated with different decisions based on the results of your analysis. 

This is a deliberately hybrid role. Success requires the ability to operate effectively as:

• an experimental methodologist (trial design & causal inference),
• an applied data scientist (production analytics, geospatial methods, modelling), and
• a delivery-oriented project manager (prioritisation, documentation, coordination).

Responsibilities

Own methodological rigour and analytical quality for trials and surveys (30%):

• Design and analyse trials and surveys, including:
  • Sample size and power calculations
  • Stratification and experimental design
  • Recommend the appropriate statistical methods (e.g., hypothesis testing, regression, ANOVA/mixed models)
• Lead analysis of agronomic and product trials to estimate treatment effects and program impact
• Quality assure trial designs and analyses produced by other analysts
• Translate trial findings into clear recommendations for product design, agronomic guidance, and program strategy.

Develop scalable analytical products and decision-support tools using program, survey, and spatial data (30%):

• Build, maintain, and improve analytical pipelines and production codebases that power operational decision tools (e.g., sowing date or input recommendations), including occasional support at the production level.
• Integrate survey, MEL, and operational data with geospatial layers (soil, climate, vegetation, remote sensing) to generate localised recommendations and program targeting strategies.
• Conduct spatial and remote-sensing analyses for program design, prioritisation, and impact estimation (e.g., soil erosion modelling, site suitability analysis).
• Analyse historical trial and soil data to generate input and soil management recommendations (e.g., lime application, fertiliser rate application).
• Evaluate potential impact of alternative interventions and support pilot design, iteration, and scale decisions.
• Translate analyses into decision-ready outputs (briefs, dashboards, and memos) for non-technical stakeholders.
• Identify new, high-leverage analytical use cases that improve program reach, impact, or cost-effectiveness.

Lead impact data management and project management (~20%)

• Lead curation and standardisation of historical yield, agronomic practice, and trial datasets to enable reuse and external research collaboration.
• Own knowledge management for impact data and trials, including:
  • Central documentation of methodologies, assumptions, sample sizes, and results for all projects
  • Reusable analysis templates and reference implementations
• Manage external data requests in compliance with client data protection and confidentiality protocols.

Provide portfolio-level project management (~20%):

• Maintain project plans, priorities, and timelines
• Track dependencies and risks
• Coordinate with program and R&D stakeholders to identify potential delivery risks
• Establish durable documentation and planning systems (e.g., project roadmaps, project trackers, shared repositories).

About the Role

The Tupande MEL Manager will be responsible for overseeing all Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) functions within Tupande. This includes managing and overseeing all ongoing and future MEL projects in the country, ensuring they meet the needs of various stakeholders, including in-country teams, Global MEL and other global teams, and various donors. Additionally, the Tupande MEL Manager will play a key role in contributing to thought leadership within Tupande, particularly focusing on data quality initiatives that support and advance Tupande’s vision as well as the Tupande Impact Plan.

Responsibilities

Directly Oversees MEL Strategy and Execution within Tupande

• Independently lead in-country or program-level impact evaluation and studies of interest to the program. Represent MEL work within Tupande and One Acre Fund and ensure stakeholders clearly understand the actionable results presented. 
• Full ownership of the most complex workstream(s) while also overseeing all other work streams within the country. This will include:
• Developing evaluation plans - from outlining the theory of change to determining the study designs, and implementation plan. 
• Developing data collection tools.
• Ensuring that all projects implemented adhere to MEL’s minimum must do’s. 
• Establish and continuously improve frameworks, processes and procedures for quality assurance, monitoring, analysis, and reporting of impact work data in consultation with key stakeholders. Ensure systems established are running in alignement with organisational processes and systems.
• Work closely with the Program teams and other stakeholders to ensure the MEL results and recommendations are understood and acted upon. 
• Manage all team leadership matters within the department including overseeing the hiring, development and performance management of MEL staff. 
• Oversee the departments’ budgeting and financial management ensuring that growth and efficiencies are explored without compromising team sustainability and data quality. 
• Provide direct support to various stakeholders on ad-hoc requests related to study design, analysis, data collection and any reporting that’s tied to MEL data. 
• Partner with senior leadership in strategic decision making related to impact work.
• Strengthen availability and use of high-quality MEL data for decision-making at all levels of the organization. Integrate data analysis, reflection & interpretation, recommendation and use with ongoing organizational activities.

Data Analysis and Reporting

• Develop or update existing analytical frameworks for all Tupande MEL projects. This would also include exploring analytical efficiencies related to data cleaning, data automation and reporting.
• Own the analysis of all MEL data for Tupande. 
• Own all Tupande MEL reporting.

Contribution to the Advancement of Tupande’s Impact Strategy

• Contribute to thought leadership in relation to the Impact Strategy including:
  • Developing studies that speak to Tupande's impact strategy, including the measurement of new channels and/or any future modifications needed; and
  • Exploring new impact opportunities for Tupande. 
• Contribute to the development of MEL goals based on Tupande’s Impact Strategy. 

Grant or Partner Support

• Provide targeted support for grant-specific methodology or analytical work including time-sensitive requests, development of Tupande specific MEL plans, annual grant reporting and any other grant related request as needed, with support from leadership.
• Represent Tupande's MEL department in various grant and/or partner meetings. 
• Work with various partners on Tupande projects with support from leadership.

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in a related field is an added advantage
• Strong academic or professional experience designing and implementing evaluations and analysing data  (e.g. with large scale data collection and field team management).
• Knowledge of evaluation concepts and mastery of experimental and quasi-experimental evaluation designs.
• Strong analytical skills, especially the use of statistical techniques leveraged in impact evaluation measurement strategies (e.g. propensity score matching, difference in difference, regression discontinuity, etc.).
• Knowledge of statistical software, such as Stata or R.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple projects with various levels of complexity at the same time. 
• A clear and compelling written communication style with an eye for design and visual presentation. 
• Ability to engage with multiple partners in a diplomatic manner and have strong relationship building skills. 
• Leadership experience, including managing a team. 
• A willingness to commit to living in East Africa for at least two years – this is a long–term, career–track role.
• The ideal candidate will have at least five years demonstrated experience working in the developing world, or be a country national from our program or operations.
• Proficiency in English is required, Swahili is an added advantage

Instiglio offers unique work experience at the intersection of the private, public, and social sectors. As an Intern, Instiglio will offer you the opportunity to engage with a fast-paced results-oriented environment; experience first-hand the fundamentals of a growing global business; and contribute to the momentum of the results movement in international development.  

The Internship Program runs for a period of six (6) months and is open to recent graduates or end-of-study students. Interns will be based at the Nairobi office and will join a growing, entrepreneurial team. As a Project Intern, you’ll join a fast-paced, collaborative environment where you’ll support real client projects - helping governments and global organizations tackle challenges in education, employment, climate, and beyond. 

You will work closely with a project team (including Associates, Managers, and Senior Leaders) to conduct research, analyze data, and co-create insights that shape better programs and policies. 

 As an Intern, you will: 

• Facilitate problem-solving and help improve program designs for our clients.
• Prepare deliverables and high-quality presentations for clients. Conduct literature reviews and synthesize findings. 
• Execute qualitative and quantitative data analysis including describing and interpreting graphs, analyzing data and applying statistical concepts (e.g. mean, SD) to draw actionable insights/hypotheses.
• Contribute to teams developing technical components of Results-Based Financing instruments from scratch by assessing considerations and trade-offs unique to each design.
• Support the growth and development of our organization through initiatives such as business development, recruitment, etc.

The ideal candidate is a Kenyan national or someone with the required permits to live and work in Kenya, a recent bachelor’s graduate or awaiting graduation, and is looking to kick-start an impact-driven career in strategy consulting and international development.  

Successful candidates must meet the following minimum requirements: 

• Education: Recent graduates (Class of 2026) with a bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Economics, Statistics, Development Studies, Public Policy, Political Science, Business, Engineering, or related fields.
• Language skills: Exceptional written and oral communication skills in English (C1 or professional proficiency). 
• Experience: None required. However, prior work experience (including other internships or trainee programmes) in consulting, international development, public policy, research, or similar fields is highly desirable.
• Skills   
  • Highly analytical with excellent numerical accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite applications (Excel, PowerPoint and Word) or Google Workspace (Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms, etc.). 
  • Ability to synthesize technical information into simple concepts and analyze information critically.
  • Ability to work independently.  
  • High organizational skills and attention to detail.  
  • A team player attitude and enthusiasm for relational work with clients. 
  • Passion for international development.

Working model and benefits 

The position is based in our Nairobi office and Instiglio has adopted a hybrid working model i.e., a minimum of two (2) days a week at the office. In addition to a stipend, Instiglio offers Interns other generous benefits such as vacation days, personal days to attend to personal emergencies, and bonus days off.
