Your Role

We're seeking an experienced, automation-focused Quality Assurance Engineer II to join our Mobile team to help us deliver high-quality products. This team develops specialized mobile applications designed to manage and control the Hudl smart camera systems. It allows coaches and administrators to automate the recording and uploading of sports videos for indoor and outdoor venues without needing a dedicated camera operator. Your primary mission will be to be the testing expert within your cross-functional squad, ensuring the delivered product meets the highest standards of quality, reliability, and performance. You will actively guide technical testing discussions and challenge the team to maintain high standards.

In this position, you’ll:

• Own testing. Lead the squad's testing efforts, using your customer and system understanding to ensure our products meet and exceed user expectations.
• Automate. By aligning our processes with development speed, you’ll make informed decisions on what, how, and when to automate.
• Collaborate. You’ll be an integral part of a cross-functional team, working closely with coworkers across Engineering, Product, Design, and Scrum, all to ensure the delivery of high-quality products.

Location

We’re looking to hire near our offices in Omaha and Lincoln, Nebraska, but we’ll consider remote candidates in Kansas City, Chicago, Boston, Austin or Dallas.

Must-Haves

• Experienced. You have 2+ years of software testing experience and a strong understanding of the product life cycle.
• Technically proficient. You have hands-on experience with iOS and Android mobile app automation and approach testing with a strong customer and user-experience focus.
• A natural problem solver. You think outside the box to find creative ways to break software and can navigate shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• A team player. You default to trust and work effectively with global teams, using your communication skills to build empathy and alignment.

Nice-to-Haves

• Contract Testing Exposure Familiarity with the concepts of contract testing, with exposure to common tools (e.g., Pact), particularly for validating API and backend service compatibility.
• AI Tool Exposure. Curiosity and exposure to leveraging AI tools (such as LLMs, specialized coding assistants, or test data generators) to increase efficiency in documentation, test case creation, or initial failure diagnosis.
• Sports knowledge. You are passionate about American Football and are keen to learn more.

Compensation

Required:

• 3+ in Windows desktop application development using Windows App SDK, WinUI (or similar), C#, XAML — and ideally additional experience with native Windows code (C++, Win32/WinRT/COM).
• Deep understanding of Windows application architecture, including interop between managed code (.NET) and native code.
• Proven track record of designing, building, and shipping production-quality desktop applications, with an emphasis on reliability, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Strong experience with accessibility APIs on Windows (e.g. Microsoft UI Automation or similar), and a dedication to building accessible and inclusive software.
• Excellent software engineering fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, multi-threading or asynchronous programming (where relevant).
• Experience leading technical design, mentoring other engineers, conducting code reviews, and making architecture-level decisions.
• Strong communication skills; ability to articulate tradeoffs, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive consensus.
• A user-centric mindset: focus on building polished, intuitive, and accessible experiences for end users.

Preferred / Bonus:

• Experience with writing automated tests for UI — unit tests, integration tests, UI automation tests; familiarity with relevant testing frameworks.
• Experience with performance optimization for desktop apps (memory usage, startup time, rendering performance, high-DPI support, responsiveness under load).
• Experience with localization/globalization, right-to-left UI support, internationalization, accessibility for multiple regions.
• Familiarity with telemetry, analytics, crash reporting, logging, and error monitoring in desktop applications.
• Previous experience in shaping CI/CD workflows, release pipelines, and deployment strategies for desktop applications.
• Demonstrated ability to take ownership of feature areas or modules and drive them long-term, including maintenance, refactoring, and technical debt management.

The United States Based Salary range for this role is: 140,000-200,000 USD/Year + Bonus + Stock depending on experience

Software Engineer I

As a Software Engineer I, you will work on a cross-functional product team and contribute production code across multiple layers of the stack. Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer I, you will:

• Design, implement, and test well-scoped software features (with guidance as needed) across backend services, web applications, databases, and hardware-integrated systems.
• Implement functionality from specifications and design documents, asking clarifying questions and identifying gaps or inconsistencies in requirements.
• Develop and maintain backend workflows and messaging-based integrations, including parsers, processors, and supporting business logic.

Technical Scope

In this role, you may work with:

• Backend systems and web applications built with C# and .NET.
• Databases and in-memory data stores using SQL, SQL Server, and Redis.
• Device and service messaging systems, including Kafka, RESTful APIs, and gRPC, to initiate actions and monitor device state.
• Cloud-native infrastructure and deployment tools, such as Argo, Docker, Kubernetes, and major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Internal tooling and shared libraries that improve testing, development efficiency, and code quality.

Requirements

• 0–2 years of professional software development experience (internships, co-ops, or academic projects acceptable).
• B.A. or B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience with object-oriented programming (C# or similar languages).
• Familiarity with web technologies and modern front-end frameworks (Ember.js, Angular, or React a plus; expertise not required).
• Working knowledge of databases and SQL.
• Ability to read, understand, and implement from technical specifications.
• Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working in unfamiliar areas of the codebase.
• Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to learn new systems, tools, and domains, including hardware-integrated software.
